Geek Love!
Jimmy loves superheroes, especially Superman, and his passion has led this artistic geek to write his own comic! After a complicated breakup, he finds himself struggling to overcome trust issues that keep getting in the way of meeting new people. Jimmy's hoping Geek Love can reverse his fortune and help him hook up with the perfect sidekick.
Dating has never been easy, but try dating in a Darth Vader mask or Wonder Woman ensemble. When comic and sci-fi fanatics can't find someone to share their passion, they turn to Ryan Glitch, founder of Sci-Fi Speed Dating. Glitch sets up speed dating sessions at events such as Comic-Con, bringing like-minded people together to embrace their idiosyncrasies and find love. All these guys have such strict, petty standards, its no wonder they are alone. They could have some beautiful, intelligent, rich, kind, accepting woman in front of them but if they don't know some random trivia about their favorite character, or aren't into the EXACT same comics, its a deal breaker. They should be open minded and actually take a chance going outside their comfort zone and getting to know someone that isn't exactly like them. Its like they finally meet a ton of girls into nerdy stuff, but thats not enough, it has to be the exact same stuff as them.

I see what you mean. However, remember that these people don't really seem to be normal (behaviour, outlook on things, etc.). Apart from the obvious weird exterior, they lack basic social skills and are awkward and very closed-minded. Of course, there are some that go to these conventions and cosplay, but don't take it too far. It's the majority that leaves a negative impression, on the world, of the thing/s they obsess about. Examples of this are anime, minecraft, etc. These are fun, creative and entertaining pieces of media. Sadly, as I've said before, people like these smudge said media (eg. "Minecrafters are all spoiled kids and man-babies"; "Anime fans are all fat loners that waste thousands of dollars on merch, do cringy role-plays in costumes, fap to 2D porn and live in their mother's basement"). What I like about these videos though, apart from getting my daily dose of cringe, is Ryan. He's funny.

Something I never understood about this show is why these people base their partner on interests alone. Jimmy is just an extreme example of that. I mean, yes, there are people who are just as obsessed with superman as him, but the likelihood of them being near him are slim to none. I know to most, having similar interests can be a starting ground for relationships, but that isn't what relationships are about. They aren't about dating a replica of yourself. A relationship should introduce you to a new way of living, a new perspective. Something that drives you to be open to new things, to try, to learn. We're all human, trying to expand our minds and our hearts, and I don't think obsessing over the same comic book character is going to do that. People are different, so instead of shying away from those differences, why not learn more about them? It isn't about what they like but who they are. That's why a good amount of these geeks fail. They have a childish view on relationships, and don't really have a sense of what it means to be in love. Love isn't what you and the other person have in common, it's the emotions you share together, the raw truths that bind the two of you together, the things you can confide in them with. A connection. That's really what we all want. Someone to understand us. I know this video is years old, and I'm almost positive no one is going to read this or care about what I'm saying, but I hope Jimmy has either outgrown his obsession, or found someone who accepts it. And best wishes to any geek or nerd or whatever you want to label yourself as.

Tl;dr This is what happens when you dont socialize. You're literally 'living in your own little world'. By being very selective of people who can give you that illusion and fantasy you want. *He obviously never grew up and is still in the same phase he was as a child. If he was in the adult phase he wouldve probably forgotten about comics* and imaginary characters, as women, and the real world doesnt pay attention to bs. But it's great for kids.

Jimmy needs to hit up a local hangout for art students. There are lots of cute art student girls who, if not into his Superman fandom, will understand it and make enough of an effort to embrace it. Especially with that bow-tie, I guarantee he'd be a popular character among the artists.
