To travel at the speed of light you'd have to not have mass at all, at which point age isn't even really relevant to you.

@Immanuel Kant That's not how that works. We don't know what would happen because going faster than the speed of light has a weight limit. However it's possible to JUMP faster than the speed of light, physics has loopholes, at least the physics WE understand. So while it's possible to JUMP (or warp) faster than the speed of light one cannot go faster than light only the speed of light where time around you will almost nearly stop, moving so low it's almost like it wasn't moving at all.

Time is relevant, Einstein proved it with relativity, you can have two people observe the same event but see it unfold in a different order due to how they are travelling through space and time, also if you are moving at a constant speed there is no experiment that can be done to prove you are not stationary, you can't differentiate whether it's you moving or if it's everything else moving around you.

molten outer core is not the bloody mantle, the mantle isn't even molten, its only 5% liquid along the asthenosphere, I'm disappointed Eli

Billy Horton Molten does not mean liquid. Molten is a sort of amorphous state between liquid and solid (think glowing hot steel in a forge that the blacksmith hammers into a tool). I do however agree with the rest of your statement, in that Eli was wrong. The question was also wrong, in that it called the outer core molten rather than liquid.

Dark Overlord of Gaming molten does indeed mean liquid it comes from An old english word Meltian which means to become liquid. Molten is the liquid synonym used to describe substances with a very high melting point such as rock that are heated up to the melting point making them a liquid.

The suspense build-up for the last question was super-tight. Major props - that could trade blows with any of those big TV shows. Only downside was showing Eli - he knew the answer and did not look happy.

Shoddy questions ;) Artificial gravity as used on space stations is indeed caused by spinning but acts in the opposite direction to conventional gravity, which is caused by the collective mass of the whole planet. The Earth's magnetic field is generated predominantly by the liquid metal core of the earth, not the mantle, which is molten rock. The mantle does however also contribute to the gravitational field of the earth.

"If you traveled faster than the speed of light, would you be aging faster or slower than normal." The answer is not at all, because travelling faster than the speed of light would cause you to begin to travel back in time.

Also, whilst I'm here I should also add that Eli was spot on. There is no evidence of anything being able to travel faster than light, although it has been hypothesised that some particles can do so, which have been called Tachyons. It may however be possible to get from one place to another faster than the apparent speed of light using some sort of clever space folding technique (proven!) or a wormhole. In any case all of this is way out of our current technological knowhow. In the meantime can we have another mouth-opener thing... oh there actually is! In that case let's have another wierd object identification

Eli was wrong with the last question. The liquid outer core of earth isn't the mantle it's the outer core. The mantle is the mantle. The simple structure goes: crust, mantle, outer core (liquid), inner core (solid due to pressure).

If you move faster than the speed of light you will be going backwards in time. Tachyon particles go backwards in time because they're going faster than the speed of light. The faster you go approaching the speed of light the slower time will go for you relative to the time of an observer.

The Vulcan blood is an easy one, because you just have to remember a bathroom scene on the ship, and whenever Spock is all mood-swingy, look at the bathroom trash can, and you can see green goo tipped sanitary napkins. Because in episode 4701: "not in a donkeys year", they gave Spock realistic bodily functions to allow him to successfully defeat Zargustron, the evil alien whose weakness was fainting at the sight of green blood. Spock perioded all over Zargustron, and when he fainted, the crew tied him up and teabagged him on camera. They used the footage as blackmail to stop Zargustron from inventing Marmite. The end

Eli's completely justified, even as a hypothetical, travelling faster than light speed is impossible, no matter what you do. If a greater speed were possible, light would travel at that speed. So the physics don't exist and it's impossible to answer that question with any level of certainty, it's just a guess on the writer's part so the question is bullshit.

"Gravity comes from spinning" -Ashens Umm no, Stewart. Gravity is a force generated by anything with any form of mass. The spinning is caused BY heat and gravity, and in turn the spin causes the Earth to be spherical. Spinning can, however, be used to create G-force, as was popularised by Babylon 5. But that's not the same thing as actual gravity, just something which comes close to duplicating its effects.

I can't believe I'm replying to a 2 year old comment but the incorrect physics in this episode is getting to me. So, a little correction: gravity is what's causing the Earth to be spherical because a sphere is the shape with the lowest gravitational potential. The Earth's spin is actually causing it to deviate slightly from a sphere, making it wider at the equator and turning it into what's called a spheroid.

Eli is right. There is no such thing as traveling faster than the speed of light, therefore there is no consequence of traveling faster than the speed of light.
