Released in 1994 by Head Not Found (HN003) Tracklist: 1. The Shivering Voice of the Ghost 2. Unearthly Loose Palace 3. Angelwings and Ravenclaws 4. The Conquering of Hirsir 5. Morningstar
Even after over 16 years of listening to black metal and hundreds or thousands of bands from black metal and sub genres this is still one of my favorite albums of all time. 16 years is not much to some of you die hards but my passion for black metal is for eternity and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Tracklist with timestamps: 1. The Shivering Voice of the Ghost 0:00 2. Unearthly Loose Palace 6:05 3. Angelwings and Ravenclaws 11:50 4. The Conquering of Hirsir 14:41 5. Morningstar 20:50
Just from clicking on the video suggestions this is the 3rd (new-to-me) awesome album in a row I've listened to, the other 2 being Bergtatt by Ulver and Nordavind by Storm. What great music!
A segunda geração do Black metal Norueguês é simplesmente perfeita! Os anos 90 ficaram para trás há muito tempo mas deixaram um acervo enorme de bons discos.
For me, from the very beginning when I first discovered Norwegian Black Metal in the mid 90's, albums like this one and others such as In The Nightside Eclipse, Hrdanes Land, For All Tid, Dark Midieval Times, and a few others from that time, are the TRUE sound of Black Metal. Modern Black Metal surely lost the feeling and effectiveness of simple and atmospheric.
Ach, 1:23. Still after 22 years, sends shivers down my spine. The double-bass, the organ, and that fucking evil voice. Very, very good. 2:55 - /me turns up the volume.
With "Conquering of Hirshir" as ringtone, people around just stare with open mouths when I get a call ;) This album was simply love at first listening.
They are under the radar, also check out bands like Akerbeltz from Spain, Xibalba from Mexico, there are tons of under the radar bands that never got too much attention as the 2nd wave BM bands you just mentioned.
That is a bit weird actually... haha :D I heard of them but for some weird reason didn't listen to it thoroughly until I got into Orcustus and Djevel. And Dirge Rep was the drummer in all three bands so I gave it a shot. Fucking legend.
Typed in Gehenna for Slipknot, accidently clicked on this instead...best mistake I've ever made haha, I am now a black metal fan! Can anyone give me the goods for recommendations please? I need more! ;D

THE BEST OF THE ALBUM: 2:05, 6:05, 8:57, 10:00, 13:26, 15:50, 16:30, 22:12, 25:06 GEHENNA---> A YEAR BEFORE SATYRICON POST "DARK MEDIEVAL TIMES", 2 YEARS BEFORE EVOL POST "The Saga of the Horned King", 1 YEAR BEFORE ISENGARD POST "Vinterskugge" GEHENNA ARE THE FIRST IN THE MEDIEVAL BLACK METAL ???
Right - if you forget, that "dark medieval times" was also released in 1994, that Enslaved also existed years before, and that Bathory invented the genre already in the late 80s.
i totally forgot about this album, i remember listening to it when i was just getting started on black metal and had an unquenchable thirst for listening to anything (and i mean ANYTHING) i could get my hands on. this is the perfect amount of everything, it may not be similar to the black metal i usually listen to but i feel a certain gothic air to this that draws me in. i'm genuinely so happy i stumbled into this again ♡♡
I am Cynthia Katherina Pedroza, and I might be a Princess from Spain,Mexico, and the United States. This is my favorite album right now.My last name is really Pedroza but they spelled it wrong on my birth certificate. The castle is in the city of Pedraza, and that city has less than 500 people. And I love that band.
