44 year old grouchy, old hardcore guy. Gel is the best contemporary hardcore punk band in my eyes. They channel the spirit that hooked me in the early 90s.
l'm 51 and ireally love this band ,because they keep the 80's sound hardcore, punk spirit in their songs. GEL really Rock on ! the sami voice remindsme the great Dawn Crosby ( Détente)
I'm from NJ and I'm super proud of GEL for their success. I used to play in Mucky Pup, and the best musical years of my life were spent playing shows in Europe, especially Germany.
Right on! Also NJ native had huge fun times 100+ @ the shore scene Asbury..Pony, Fastlane, Brighton Bar etc etc...but I live in California now & was wondering what part of NJ did they break out of? L8TR
@@jmason61 I'd say NJ in general, but they work incredibly hard. They are always on tour, literally everywhere, and they've branched out to Europe big time. Years ago, and earlier version of this band was called "Sick Shit" and I did sound for them at The Saint in Asbury Park, and it was obvious that there was something special there.
Gel is amazing but seriously why are so many people hung up on how long songs are?Are there stipulations on a type of art form? Are certain people trying to regulate music now?Especially when its comes to punk and hardcore music. Those geners have typically have had short songs so why are poeple so shocked when songs are 2 minutes or less or when albums are 20 miutes or less.
