Compared to HP series i love the way they show duel in in Fantastic beasts it's kind of quick and matured which tells how powerful the characters are. You can see in Tina Vs Grindelwald duel how powerful Gindelwald is.. Tina uses both her hands to catch her wand but gindelwald uses one hand to deflect the spell..
The level of power showcased by Grindelwald here is terrifying. Tina is a brilliant Auror and Newt powerful enough in his own right but here they can't even touch him.
I’m glad they showed more wandless magic in this film. The way he effortlessly throws a car at her with the wave of his hand 🔥 That’s some next level telekinesis.
Voldemort tenía telequinecis y máximo podía solo despojar de la varita a otros, u botar muertos como si le pesará un poco, mientras que Grindelwald podía mover carros con una mano como si nada, niveles de poder muy sorprendentes
The craziest thing about Grindelwald here, is that the spells he does while using the wand are likely the ones that are supposed to emulate Graves because if you look at these examples, whenever he waves his hand the results are VERY dramatic. Like, he fights Tina and there's a battle of sparks, but then he waves his hands and a friggin 3 ton vehicle comes FLYING at her, and then when he fights Newt, more sparks but he gets frustrated and waves his hand and the solid steel railways become malleable whips, not to mention just casually motioning at Credence and sending him flying away like a ragdoll.
The fact that (Mr Graves) Grindelwald was intentionally holding back in the fight so that people won't find his true identity otherwise he would destroy Tina and Newt easily.
For those saying that they don’t like how there isn’t much color with the spells. There isn’t that many in Harry Potter either. Only time I saw any colors were in the spell clashes
I think their spells are white or bluish-white because it is a stunning spell or a petrification spell. Macusa's aurors probably uses a stunning spell, petrification spell, and disarming charm primarily for direct combat against hostile violators instead of spamming unforgivable curses.
Stunners and Expelliarmus are red. The movies made almost all the magic whitish after Order. I think it's because it's easier and cheaper to animate. Unforgivables seem to be almost impossible to cast non-verbally. The only person ever shown doing so is Voldemort. Not even Bellatrix spams them.
@@Sorakeyblademaster37 Ron did it actually. When he was running from Nagini with Hermione in the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 movie, he casts Avada Kedavra without saying anything.
@@shinjansaha240 i don't think so, remember that he probably killed the real Graves, so in that case the wand belongs to him. I think that his face isn't one of effort, but a rage one.
I don’t know what it is but there is something about the Spell Casting in this movie (these scenes in particular) that feels Grittier then it ever did in the Harry Potter movies even towards the end when the Franchise started getting darker.
I love how Gellert uses both hands to fight instead of relying solely on his wand like the people sixty years after this happened. 😂😂😂😂😂 which is why he was the more effective ‘dark lord’
The thing is, Newt was doing just fine, it's just that he was looking out for Credence as well. The only time Newt got hit with a spell is when he looked for Credence. If Credence weren't there, Newt could have held him off for longer
I don't think so bro. I mean i know that Newt couldn't fight properly but Grindelwald also wasn't trying to kill him quickly, he just wanted to make him suffer and maybe he didn't wanted to kill him in front of Creedence. I think that if they both were in conditions of a fair fight, Newt couldn't stand for a second
Colin Farrell was extraordinary in this movie, I was hugely disappointed when they revealed Johnny Depp at the end. I wish he was the original Grindelwald.
Gellert Grindlewald is most powerful and strongest dark wizard of all time with or without Elder wand also before lord Voldemort was teenager. He is finished in 1945 lost to Dumbledore in a duel he was thrown in Prison for 50 years he lost his powers and skills everything but still he wasn't afraid of lord Voldemort.
He's not considered to be stronger. Literally everyone says Voldemort is the most powerful dark wizard ever. Grindelwald got his cheeks clapped even when he had the Elder Wand.
@@mr.jameson218 actually if you are talking about jk Rowling then my guy look at her tweet again she writes that if voldemort and Grindelwald fairly with their ORIGINAL wands then in a duel Grindelwald will defeat voldemort because even thought he had less knowledge in dark arts then voldemort and was a shade less powerful then him but he was FAR more knowledgeable in magic as a WHOLE. He was much more skilled and manipulative. And also if voldemort was a parsemouth then Grindelwald was a seer meaning a person can see future so he can also pretty moved of voldemort. And when Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald. There were 2 primary reasons 1 Dumbledore was in his PRIME at the time he faught Grindelwald while he was old and weak as compared to when he faught voldemort and he was not trying to kill voldemort only startling him long enough for ministry to see that dark lord had returned. 2 Grindelwald didn't wanted to kill Dumbledore because he was his best friend while Dumbledore was furious at Grindelwald for killing his sister Hope this explains :-)
@@ActaNova aurors are very skilled wizards specially trained in defense against the dark arts, their main objective is to capture the dark wizards. obviously she alone could not beat him, but surely she would not lose so easily
@@BlackangelKatakuri To be fair, Newt probably had to learn quite a bit offensive and powerful magic in order to be able to contain and take care of his 100+ Magical Creatures in his Ridiculously Expanded Magical Menagerie Briefcase. So it's not as unbelievable as some may believe.
Something i like about how they portray grindewald in the first 2 films is that hes constantly using elemental spells. Lots of lightning and fire, you dont see him ever cast avada kedavra (he has his minions do that for him) It gives him a Very different feel from voldemort, who people often joke was just a 1 trick pony who could only cast crucio and the killing curse and nothing else ....then we got the third film and its right back to avada kedavra
@@lolerie lol I love Grindelwald and stuff he makes a great villain and is really stylish but people overestimate his abilities. Dumbledore and voldemort are more powerful than him if they duel equally
@@Hadex01 that is the problem, both Albus and Gellert were true masters of Elder Wand, yet Tom managed to destroy the whole protection system on Howards not being its true master. LOL.
Say what you want, but Newt is strong AF. Protego strong enough to deflect (temporarily) G's magic, able to non verbally cast. People overlook the skill it took just to endure an assault from Grindelwald.
I think he really has no plans in killing someone, like he's a darker Albus Dumbledore but not to the extent of killing like Voldemort since he understands the laws of magic
What annoyed me is how he doesn't just avada kedavra Newt. Like man, he's clearly powerless against you while you're continually zapping him with lightning. Just end it
@@stm81mcn18 give them time. I have hope. Depp exit was a pain in the ass but for the rest of the cast and Mads (who is not his fault) made a great job and I know theyll keep doing it
@@quentinhirschfeld3547 Harry Potter features tons of wandless magic, but once I started noticing it, it changed how I viewed characters. Harry Potter does it a lot when dueling Draco Malfoy.
This is the guy people say that he is stronger than voldemort?🤣 voldemort had no match except for albus, the only reason he died is cause of that old magic lily used to sacrifice herself, and the fact that the horcrux was in harry’s soul, and also harry being the last elder wand owner, which you cant kill a wizard with his own wand, and also before the elder wand, the wand that he and harry used are the same core. Grindlewald got caught and got sent to prison, the aurors can never detain voldemort it’s impossible to put the dark lord in azkaban
Your annoyance can be fixed if you read the book and know that non verbal spell casting is hard for students who are learning magic. These are all adult wizards who have way more experience and skill than fodders who are learning new spells.
Lightweight feel like that hand car toss he did instead of his wand in fact was his wand he just used his hand cause he’s that good to distract his opponent without even moving his wand up.. even kinda like itachi using one hand to weave signs that shit would throw anyone off their battle game for a moment or two 😂😂😂 like wtf ? He just do that
Agreed. Depp was too theatrical. In that scene in the first movie, his lines, expressions, the way he acts saying "do you think you can hold me" and "will we die, just a little?" is so forced and I cringe everytime. I see the actor more than the character. I do think he dialed it down on the second movie and it was better, but I still saw only Depp.
Porque quebra a alma do próprio usuário da magia, além de que só feiticeiros de baixo caráter usam isso. Um dos motivos que torna Grindewald muito superior ao Valdemort que é covarde.
Grindelwald is a sadist, when he knows he has his enemy beat and there’s nothing they can do to stop him, he genuinely enjoys watching them suffer for no reason. Like a cat playing with a mouse before killing it. And tbf newt has been a pain in grindelwalds ass so
@@jinta87 At which point, a more pragmatic wizard would've switched to a cutting curse, a stunner, or a body binder. Therefore, Grindelwald is either stubborn and impulsive (which fits someone who would try to unleash the Protego Diabolica dragons in a city that he had just attempted to convert to his cause, but doesn't fit someone who can command an international revolution and successfully fight a terror war in all of Europe) or a vengeful sadist who finds satisfying watching Newt suffer and slowly lose the ability to defend himself against the constant electrocution.
Was I the only one who found the whole movie weak and full of fluff apart from the end where he fights off the Aurors? Compared to the Duel between Voldermort & Harry, then Dumbledore vs Voldermort... which were all epic and literally full of energy, this scene was just weak. Harry Potter just had all the Charisma this movie & T.C.O Grindlewald severely lacked. That's why they were a flop because Voldermorts character was more menacing and devious. He was a leader to fear whereas Grindelwald wasn't. Eddie Redmaynes role I just didn't understand and see the point of. Its over use of CGI ruins the whole new franchise.
This is because Grindelwald's motivation for his actions is “for the greater good." I actually liked Grindelwald's persuasive personality. And this is not a full scale duel where you cast whatever spell in your arsenal to kill your opponent. THIS IS TINA TRYING TO STOP PERCIVAL GRAVES. Grindelwald only used generic auror spell as to not blow his cover. This is what I like about this movie. Compared to Voldemort who hates muggles and always bragged how powerful he is, Grindelwald made a tactical and persuasive approach to gain the sympathy of every wizard he meets. Grindelwald only resorts to violence when things doesn't go as planned.
@@imaheadout457 The point still is whether it was a full duel or not and I get his identity didn't want to be compromised until the very end..... but the new concept of these movies still don't match Harry Potter. It didn't exactly get rave reviews. It was make or break and sits somewhere in the middle. Maybe its still early days as the 2nd one didn't really leave much of a cliff hanger except Grindlewald escaping.
@@stm81mcn18 Maybe because it's not Harry Potter? Harry Potter is about... Harry Potter and this is about Newt Scamander. These two people are extremely different. Voldy and Harry's duel was at the end of the 8th movie... this is the 1st of 5, it's not going to have an epic fight yet. The epic one should be at the last of the 5 between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
I haven't seen these movies, but really? They used the same actor that played the guy Harry turns into in the last movie when they need to get to the Umbridge? Lol
