David, I've been watching your videos since 2008-2009. I love your tech expertise, but I really love the family footage. My sister and I have fond memories of enjoying your family content! Love your stuff, bro.
David you can also do this if you enable prevent mac from sleeping when display is closed that disables the lid switch then it will keep the other displays on for a dock setup go to settings on new mac os or system Preferences then go to battery then power adapter check the box for prevent sleep if you also have a ups connected check show battery in menu bar that's really helpful info too plus easier to get to the settings if the get moved around too
I understand that, but for whatever reason these monitors would not stay on when the MacBook Pro was closed. The monitors would shut off after a minute.
@@daviddifranco well in that case, I can see that happing if the Power Delivery is week for a 15 inch you need 96 W for a 13 inch you need 65 so if it is under that you may have it do that if you do not have a charger connected and active just wondering what the thunderbolt output is on the monitor or USB that will do that MacBooks should stay awake mine will on any monitor I connect so far if sleep mode is disabled one trick you can try is do this connect the monitors then quickly turn on the computer from power off then shut the lid before it dongs then that will force the mac to stay awake that's a old trick
Do you know what will be really great? A horizontally foldable 24" monitor so that we can take our monitors with us everywhere we go. I can't wait to get such. You fold your monitor and it looks like a second laptop and you can easily throw into your laptop bag and hop on a flight
david i can also see this being used for twitch streamers and vtubers as well to monitor their chat try it see how that works I think chat also is a great use for this as well
Interesting product. But why does a monitor need ethernet? For remote control or something? Maybe they should just sell this as a stand and let you attach your own monitors to it. It's a neat idea, but the magic is in the easy adjustability, I think, and not the actual monitors.
