My final “Gen music hits different” video. I love the later gens but Gen 5 is the one I truly loved as well as it being the last one I really cared about.
I recognised most of them so here's a list. 0:10 Elite four battle music 0:37 Subway trainer music (but also used at other points I think?) 1:14 DragonSpiral tower 1:56 Driftveil Drawbridge 2:19 Driftveil city 2:38 Nimbasa city 4:25 bianca or cheren fight I believe 4:53 N fight 5:16 credits (which literally never fail to make me cry) 5:50 Undella town 6:04 Cynthia encounter theme (and if you don't get the joke she's hidden in undella town) I actually didn't know this one 3:23 give me a break I haven't played pokemon black in literal years
@@migueldabu242 it's the world champion theme. i'm not sure if it was used at all, but it was supposedly what played if you fought the VGC world champion. it is based off of blue's theme.
I miss when pokemon games used to really push limits. The first one squeezed as much data as possible into that little gameboy cartridge, up to the 2ds/3ds, which could hold all possible pokemon, which the switch can't do I guess??
peaks of Pokemon are definitely gen 3 ( are the Pokemon designers of these games still working at gamefreak? Battle frontier return when?) And gen 5 ( we're sorry for bashing the game before please give us a real story again gamefreak!). Everything else is pretty meh, gen 1 is praised but it was just the first nothing really interesting happened here, gen 2 rode on the backs of gen 1 hardddddd and the fact that the second box legendary isn't even important to the game is shocking, all game you hear people talking about ho-oh being God and bringing dogs back to life and all that and then there's just Lugia. Gen 4 well I didn't really play this one so I'll keep my mouth shut seems to get some love tho and Cynthia is still sung in legends so there's that. Gen 6 not too bad, understandable that they brought kanto back as it was their anniversary but the fact that the regional starters didn't get mega evolutions but 2 other gens starters did is kinda scary( did any kalos Pokemon get a mega evolution?) Gen 7 I mean I also didn't play this one but I like the concepts with necrozma being like the evil alien that threatens the world and then a whole other dimension and all that stuff was kinda cool sounding. And then gen 8 👀🚶🏿🚶🏿🚶🏿🚶🏿. Gamefreak are trying new things now but because black and white failed to meet expectations we can expect to wait 4-5 years for them to slowly make changes that they could have made in just one game cause the higher ups are definitely not pouring any more money into the games till they can be sure people will love it. Till then tho y'all better be expecting to see charizard a few more times and I'll beat my chest and say you'll see a new form or something of charizard before you'll see samurott, meganium, empoleon, serperior, emboar, infernape and a bunch of other starters smell the air of a new game.
@@johndamilkman Mainline Pokemon as a whole is terrible, not just gen 5. It has the worst writing of any JRPG series to ever exist. There is no attempt to make battles in the main campaign interesting rather than rock paper scizzors. And they regularly cut mechanics or features that make the games more bearable.
@@danielwhite1890 Leaves me a bit depressed that this is what Game Freak has become. I want to look forward to the new games, and see Game Freak fix their issues, but I'm not stupid. I need to keep a realistic view on this. Game Freak has been slipping down a slop of mediocrity since Black and White didn't meet their expectations of praise, and I don't see them stopping their further descent into mediocrity anytime soon.
I've been seeing a lot of talk about Gen 5 was good so then one day I thought to myself "Hey why not play Black 2 and see why people like it?" So I did and it took me about 2 months to finish the game. And boy was I glad I thought of that, I can officially say gen 5 is great!
Might be unpopular opinion but I honestly think bw are better than b2w2, at least as standalone titles. The fact that it doesn't have any older gen mons makes it feel completely separate from the rest of the games in a good way. It refreshing to have a whole pokemon game with its own Pokemon, awesome character designs and music and more devloped characters and story. I feel like the inclusion of older gens in b2w2 dilutes this effect quite a bit. Still a good game and an appreciated sequel but I still prefer the originals
0:10 VS Unova Elite Four 0:36 Subway Bosses 1:15 Spiral Dragon Tower / Giant Chasm 1:57 Driftveil Bridge 2:20 Driftveil City 2:38 Nimbasa City 3:22 Undisputed World Champion Blue ( in my case) 4:25 Battle! Bianca and Cheren 4:53 Natural Harmonia Final Battle 5:16 Credits 5:50 Undella Town ( this really relax me ) 6:04 NOT AGAIN, NOT YOU
6:02, I haven't laughed this hard in a long time LMAO I've never seen someone display the roller coaster of emotions that you go through on a blind playthrough of this game, going from the calm serene music of Undella town, to opening an unsuspecting door only to find synthia as the piano starts playing. It's fuckin hilarious
"Ah, just exploring this nice coastal town, not too many buildings here so it shouldn't take too long..." Opens door, a familiar sprite notices you. That blonde boss piano starts playing. "Ha ha, I'm in danger..."
This is a strangely personal thing to write in a comment section and I acknowledge that but I genuinely want nothing more than to relive watching my brothers play the black and white games when we were kids. Of course I wasn’t allowed to play I was the youngest and would probably break the DS but Black and White was genuinely the generation that cemented my love for Pokémon aside from all the nostalgia I look back at it and can play I can really appreciate how great it really is. Even now me and my brothers bond over Pokémon everytime a new game comes out. Just craving that feeling of all of us living under a roof together with none of us worried about jobs or university. Dunno
I had the same situation with my two older brothers haha but finally got to play White when I was around 10 and it genuinly changed my life. This video brought back so many memorys. We all still play Pokemon (me mostly haha) and Black and White have really created something that not many other sibling bondds can say they have.
I remember being 14 and just... not pressing any buttons. Not moving my character or opening up the menu. Just listening to that beautiful music. So yeah, I feel that 😢
I picked both black and black 2 when they came out, and I loved them. They are still my favorite Pokémon games to date, after playing every generation. The generation 5 games are held close to my heart as not only the first Pokémon game I’ve ever played, but also the best game I’ve ever played. I’m so glad that people now actually see the game for what it’s worth.
@@flapjackpancake5486 this is why emulators are a god send for bored lonely dorks like me who just wanna play old pokemon but cant afford a 120 used game cartridge
@@vers-over1886 it was pretty good. But i do agree the remake was a lot better. But i would say that gen was the last good generation of the newer games
The second to last soundtrack was the one that made everything settle in and my eyes starting watering cause it made me realize that everything’s changed and just isn’t as good as it was. Coming home and playing Pokémon after school and acting like a trainer in my room like I’m actually doing the battles myself. Forging bonds with imaginary creatures on a screen. Sometimes I wish I could go back or at least feel the way I did back then just one last time. Don’t rush growing up. You’ll regret it.
Gen 5 took some real risks in the story department that really paid off (interrupting your league challenge and blowing it up? Nice). The ones after have been incredibly safe and boring. Not to say the recent ones are bad per se, but boy I wish they just tried less gimmicky mechanics and more openness to adventure.
I think the best risk they took was having only gen 5 Pokemon available until the post game, it made them and they region they inhabited feel special and memorable
I actually started playing pokemon with black, I was about 6. That game, that one game, started something beautiful I will always be thankful for Sadly my DS died a while back, but I'll always remember my lv81 Samurott and all the memories he brought with him Thank you pokemon
listening to this makes me realize where i got most of my music taste from. i love gen 5 so much. black was the first pokemon game i ever played, and i still hold it dear in my heart.
@@Deathmare235 LITTERALLY ALL SHE DID WAS PUT ON A DIFFERENT DRESS AND TIE HER HAIR BACK. N WENT CHALLENGED EVERYTHING HE WAS TOUGHT AND LIVED BY FOR THE LAST 18 YEAR AND DEVEOPED AN ENTIRE NEW WORLD VIEW. HE WENT FROM A BRAINWASHED CULT FIGUREHEAD TO A INDEPENDANT FREE THINKER WHO COMES BACK AFTER TWO YEARS TO TALK TO THE MAN WHO HELD HIM CAPTOR FOR HIS ENTIRE LIFE, WHILE PROBABLY WEARING THE SAME PAIR OF UNDERWEAR.
I just played through pokemon black for the first time. When my hp went into red and the music changed I almost had a heart attack, but DAMN thats awesome!
This gen's music truly hits different. There's no gen that was as atmospheric as Gen 5 to me, and listening to multiple gen's music now outside of the games, I feel how much the music contributed to that.
I feel so proud of myself for appreciating this masterpiece when it came out. The Black version is actually the first pokemon i played on the DS while everyone around me stayed playing D&P and Plat..
I never got how not having any old pokemon is a complaint, like if they were missing entirely sure, but most of them are there in the post game especially with white forest, I always loved the idea of only new mons in the main game, makes you feel just like that first game you played when you didn't know a single mon, and just caught whatever caught your eye
I adore everything about Gen 5. The music, the game plot, even a bit of the anime (mainly the episodes about N). It got way too much hate before, and I’m glad it gets the recognition it deserves.
i loved b&w and diamond and pearl equally, but i always prefered b&w by a longshot-it's so nostalgic and beautiful, and the 3d elements, cries, and music was so elegantly made that there was always something about it that made it special, like the amazing story itself,, it's crazy something like 3D can make people turn away in an instant
I think this is this is the first time ive heard non battle music in one of these videos wich is a shame because this game has some of the most relaxin cill and fun overwold songs
I've played black version again from the start less than a week ago, still my favourite gen no doubt whatsoever about that, it's really comforting going back to Unova and N and everything else... until *that* house, that is.
I watched a video where they did a bracket style tournament with music from every generation to find the best Pokémon song of all time. Gen 5 credits took the crown :)
@@justanotherstruggler8297 They aren't remakes, they are *sequels*.... if had 2 remakes rby and still had sequels, gsc which also have remakes, then why doesn't unova get one?
I forgot how hard Gen 5's ending song goes. Like dang, I just beat the game and instead of giving me a moment of rest, you pump my up with an intense banger for no reason. Godbless, Gen 5, godbless.
Omg 5:50!!! You just brought back some old memories wow. I used to leave my DS on at that beach for the music so I could relax while I did something else.
Brings back memories, as Pokémon Black was my very first Pokémon game. At the time I mistook Audino for Munna and caught several of them, never understanding why I didn't progress in the story.
This one is like a real homage to BW's music rather than just a meme. I'm remembering how much I love Pokemon lately, and the DP remakes are bringing back that hype I forgot about.
I remember when I first play B/W, I was amazed by the graphics and would go back and forth just to see how the graphics would move around as well, zoom in zoom out, with musics and all 😭 truly a good world for a 2D game
I really do think that gen 5 in general is just kinda what peak pixel art looks like. This kind of mix between 2D with some 3D aspects just looks so fascinating to me. It also shows peak GameFreak since at that point they had been working with these sort of graphics since the first game and those really showed how well they knew their medium. Really don't think pokemon should have come to 3D since I just prefer 2D and pixel sprites over most of the models
Thats so cultured and amazing. I cant even explain how good I felt hearing that!!!! I felt like dang 8 years old leaving his NDS on just to hear these BANGERS for dang hours!
5:50 Galloping around Hyrule Field, marveling at the sights and having a nice time 6:05 *There's a red laser pointed at you and you don't know where it's coming from*
the transition from 2D to 3D also came with a change in era of Pokémon. It's real simple and obvious to say that they literally don't (and may never go back to) make(ing) Pokémon games like they used to before and I'm damn glad to have made the best memories of my childhood playing Black 2
Honestly the only reason why yall are bitching is because of nostalgia stfu on this honestly we get that yall have nothing better to do then complain but it gets old
My favorite track is definitely the ending theme. Unlike the other games where the ED is kinda sad and nostalgic, like the final chapter to a great book, the ED of Gen 5 is upbeat and exciting, like your journey is just getting started
I still don't understand why Gen-5 was hated so much, it has everything you need Story, iconic character and most of all the music, but yeah the mechanics were...... Hmmm
Gen 5 brought me back after playing Diamond. The trailers for Black/White 2 gave off that more shounen action story and it was subtly a bit much more mature. Never understood why it got hate in the first place.
Also, the last Pokémon generation that used sequenced music (with the exception of BW2's title music). Starting with X&Y, it's all just simple sound files, not as technically impressive as every *single* note being processed and played in real time to me!
@@richardshiflett5181 Gen 7 is heavily flawed, but I think it compensates for the flaws fairly well. Others may disagree, of course, but I think Gladion is every bit as iconic as N.
Man like... I was on this since RELEASE ... Feels amazing to see Gen 5 finally get the love it absolutely deserves. I remember learning how to play Dragonspiral Tower on the marimba in band class because I loved it so much
Me, who loved Gen5 since hearing the Low Health music for the first time, immediately followed by the "Last pokemon in a gym leader's team" music: *ABOUT TIME EVERYONE ELSE CAUGHT UP!*
Story wise and how the world of BW looked were top tier. Amazing Pokémon games but sadly they didn't sell well. And yet we got games like sword and shield that sold ridiculously high but sucked.
The thing is Gen 5 didnt have time literally introduced on a dying handheld & had 2 years worldwide (2011-2012) before gen 6 the first ever 3D mainline game came. That and the Anime being trash.
@@pkmnproductions7461 yea the anime was unbearably bad. And then the opposite happened a year or two later. The xy games were meh and the anime was amazing
Game freak tried to change things to keep the game fresh. But the game didn’t end up selling well after putting so much effort into it. So game freak stopped trying and just rode on the back of nostalgia to carry its sales, as you could see in gen 8
Unova will always be one of my top favorite regions I’ve never understood the hate gen 5 had gotten bc honestly those people either like to complain just to freaking complain or they simply have no taste bc gen 5 was one of the greatest.
After it came out and I finally got internet access I was so surprised to see the negativity. But also all this positivity came out of nowhere, I'm like "when did people change their minds???" It's a complete 180 that am perfectly happy with lmao
My theory is that my generation was already getting a bit older(early teens) and the older generations who were still fans didnt like that none of the old pokemon weren't in it. A lot of people who shit on it never actually played it.
Most of the negativity came from people who never even played the game (which is the usual for internet dwellers), but the people who actually played it all said good things.
Gen 5 was my first time experiencing Pokemon I was 9 years old and my mom just bought me a Nintendo DS lite Mario edition with Pokemon black honestly an incredible experience I loved the games story really deep for a kids game
Oh wow, guess I'll have to agree as you just have proven me wrong as someone who was always like "I never had a gay crush when I was younger. Weird".😂😂 Didn't even notice until your comment.
there are still times in my life that i just open my pokemon games and for example i just go to driftveil city and listen to my ds at the same time im doing my homeworks its such a good felling and it just puts me in a good mood
Man, this really shows how much the music cared to me even not being full aware of it. I REMEMBER EVERY ONE OF THEM, I PLAYED IT WHEN IT CAME OUT BRO, HOW.
I grew up with my first journey in Black on my 11th birthday. Imy second journey was also in Unova 2 years later. My first Pokémon that I laid eyes on in my room in Nuvema Town, that Oshawott is now a Samurott and now rests alongside me in the Alola Region. I have since journeyed through Kalos, Hoenn, Alola (twice) and now Galar. As I get ready for my next journey in Sinnoh I still always make sure give my Samurott a hug goodbye while he waits in the Poképelago for my eventual return. I may have left Nuvema Town a decade ago now, but as far as I'm concerned, where ever Samurott and all my other Pokémon are, that's where I'm truly at home. ☺️🏠
Gen 5 was always my favorite. My first game was pearl but white was the first that showed me a pokemon world i could believe. The scale, the myths, the geography, the music ... it was so refreshing AND on top of that i got to experience a COMPLETELY new gen of pokemons at every turn. I like the other gens but five will always be special.
