When i was in school, there was a hierarchy based on looks ( long blond hair was at the top). Often pretty tween girls turned out to be the plainest of all in the end. I would not encourage beauty standards in schools, they should be focusing on other things, like being competitive in a positive way and helping, respecting others along the way and the parents encouraging this are overgrown teenagers themselves. Older men or boys might interpret this in the wrong way.

This has nothing to do with the normal development of being interested in hygiene and appearance during puberty…this is about young girls feeling immense social pressure to own expensive skincare products they don’t even need. If they’re into skincare, fine, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer that cost no more than $10 each. This is about consumerism and social media popularity contests that are too much of a psychological burden for young people.

Young girls being interested in makeup, skincare, jewelry and fashion has been reality for ever.. that’s nothing new and it’s not at all uncommon and never has been. Magazines from the 1920s made for young girls have makeup and fashion tips. Those are things that women typically like (not all women of course and some men like those things too but historically it’s literally proven that (some/most) women like makeup and jewelry, that’s not even a debatable fact, not sure why that confuses you) And young teenagers wanting to copy older women is literally just what people do.. so teens liking those things is 100% normal. Nobody needs any of those things, they are a hobby..

children shouldn't be allowed to have "platforms" on social media. they shouldn't be allowed to be "tiny influencers". letting your child do this is disgusting and very harmful. you are exposing them to predators. shame on these parents!!

as a licensed aesthetician for over 15 years of experience, this is not good for young skin, they are stripping their perfect skin of its natural oils and I think we will see in the long run that this will indeed cause their skin to age earlier on. sure they are using professional products but it's too harsh for their skin and will have an adverse reaction and cause premature aging.. yikes.

The parents are raising them this way. Yikes. Yet if you ask them about health literacy, it's going to be crickets. They don't even know the science behind the ingredients and effects to the largest organ of their tiny bodies.

The only thing my mom has ever let me use for my skin in turmeric soap since I was 13, it never occurred to me about all this other stuff for skin. I didn’t even know about Sephora until a few months ago, but I have heard a little about it. I feel so old now 😅

As a gen alpha I think it’s OK but instead of them like actually getting the skin care they should just watch videos about it because you can just get ones for cheaper anyway. that are way more better. But it sucks I don’t have a phone 📱:/

I think it's fine for 10 and up to use skincare IF ITS SAFE! I don't think 13 and under should be using Drunk Elephant and DEFINITELY NOT RETINOL but Sol De Janeiro is fine and so is bubble, People should not get mad at this. We just think it's fun and of course were gonna try it if it is ALL over social media and safe for our skin. If you don't like it then don't let your kid do it, you shouldn't put this stuff on the news!!!😑 I don't think this is new, kids have always been stealing there parents makeup. I am a Gen Alpha and I know that we are not doing this to grow up too fast! If adults hate that kids are doing this ADVERTISE SOMETHING ELSE! If fidgets were still allll over tiktok we would prob still be obsessed with them. I really don't want sephoras to close down for younger kids cause it is not our fault people are dumb and ruining testers. I used to have really bad acne and the dermatologist said I had to use cera ve and cetephil. Its better to cleanse your face and moisturize then not to do anything at all. Don't get mad at me this is my OPINION👋

I think that yes, it’s kinda crazy how much these 10/11 year olds or younger are using on their faces. But, it’s not really their fault. They see these things on social media and want them bc it’s cool or their friends have it. Every generation had their own trendy things, gen alpha just happens to be this.

The eye serums and matches seem like a lot, but at the same time most of the products sold in retail stores don't have the same level of active ingredients as professional skincare. In a way its just an expensive hobby for kiddos.

Assuming they are using products that are safe for them (a big if), I like this to the point that it could delay the onset of makeup use. It would be refreshing to see more teens staying fresh (albeit conditioned with Sephora) faced.

Why are those of us who are part of Gen X acting like we weren’t using Noxzema as tweens?! My mother had me on a skin care routine as a tween because that’s when puberty and pimples started. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with these young ladies being on a good skin care regimen. Everything in moderation.

It's okay for tweens and teens to use skincare. A 7yr old shouldn't rly be using skincare. However, I think it is good for us to be starting skincare early on as it becomes a habit to take care of our skin. But we don't need to be using retinols, eye creams, and all that other nonsense at our ages. It is not age appropriate and it will end up ruining our skin. Same with makeup, 10yr olds do not need makeup. Don't be in a rush to grow up, enjoy your childhood, you have so much adulthood to do all of these things. Dermatologists have said getting into a skincare routine as a tween or teen is good habits, but again, you just need a simplr routine. Ex. cleanser, serum, moisturizer, spf that's honestly it !!
