You made a very valid point, babangida and Abubakar abdusalam should be held responsible for the death of abiola, especially babangida. When babangida told Obasanjo that he will bring him out of jail and make him president, Obasanjo declined that it wasn't possible because of abiola, babangida then told him not to bother about abiola that he would handle the issue, afterwards, abiola was poisoned, in a nutshell, babangida, Abubakar and Obasanjo knew what happened to abiola, that aside, the Issue of the poison, I don't think it was the American delegates, though the NIA of the United states had a track record of assassination of political leaders they don't want all over the world, the American delegates never comprised of any member of the American delegates to the visit on abiola, besides, the United states was always pressuring Abacha to hand over to a civilian government of which abiola was held hostage, there was a clause though which the federal government led by Abubakar gave the American delegates on the release of abiola which was for abiola to sign an undertaken that he would give up his mandate, back to the issue, I don't think the American delegates had a hand on the death of abiola, if any, it was the lady, suzan rice who served abiola the tea, but for God sake, she only served an already prepared tea that was in a flask, will abiola take the tea while he had seen her put something on the tea???, I don't think so, in my opinion, I think the tea was poisoned by those who prepared it and poured it inside the flask and according to the lady, she said abiola was coughing profulosely, so she asked abiola if she could offer him a help by offering the tea on the table

She is a visitor for God's sake, how is it her duty to serve tea to an illegally detained political prisoner? And any educated person with first aid knowledge knows not to pass any fluid down the mouth of a coughing patient. Especially not a hot one from a flask. Come one guys. I think there was a deal and so as to make him drink it, he had been starved and when he was coughing (here is my psychological hypothesis) Susan Rice offered him a drink. This appeals to a maternal softness in him to agree and accept. Also, offering a drink to a coughing person is custom to Nigerian people as opposed to custom in the west. Abiola won the election, but there was chaos after the election, the opponent or so rejected the result, went to court, asking for the election to be annulled, after ward, the president which was babangida annulled the election, abiola didn't accept the annulment, so there was a chaos, so babangida had to set up an interim government, appointing chief ernest shoneken as head of state and made abacha his chief of staff, of which abacha was the only military officer in the interim government, that was their plan, after 3 months, abacha made a coup against shonekan_led interim government and took over government, he then locked up abiola
