Fun Fact: Marie Moreau made a small cameo in The Boys 3x2. When Hughie was getting info on Victoria Neuman at the orphanage, Marie's face showed up on the computer.
The writing on this show is top notch! I love how they incorporate their powers into young adult issues such as self-harm (Marie cutting herself to access blood), binge-purging (Emma size change), and gender identity (Jordan’s male/female change).
I’m so excited for this! Gen V is such a great show and I can’t wait for season 2. Fun Fact: Prof. Brink’s actor, Clancy Brown, has made a career playing and voicing villainous characters (it’s part of the reason we don’t inherently trust him which is why it’s great casting). While the vast majority of people will recognize him as the voice of Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants, this is not his first foray into the world of superheroes, as he spent the late 90s and early 00s as the voice of Lex Luthor in Superman: The Animated Series and the DC animated universe as a whole.
The main difference for me with this from The Boys is that I like most of the characters because, yes, they are all traumatized, but this catches the supes at an age where the trauma they've experienced hasn't yet turned them into terrible people. They all want to do the right thing and actually be heroes. By the time they get to The Seven and under Vought's thumb that just exploits them for PR, they've internalized all the bad lessons so that they've become bad people. These kids really do want to help people with their powers. That's the main difference and it's cool to show that flipside of "what of the people who do want to be good" in this universe controlled by terrible people. It's a great addition to The Boys universe.
My only real issue with The Boys is that there isn't really anyone to root for (aside from Frenchie obviously) and Gen V absolutely solves that with so many relatable characters we can care about.
I wouldn't necessarily agree about the OG. Starlight, MM, Frenchie, and Kimiko are all pretty easy to root for. Hughie too most of the time, when the Temp-V isn't getting to his head. Gen V has more classically heroic characters, I'll admit.
"This is a wholesome family scene in the Boys universe. I'm terrified." "I'm so jaded." And yet! You know what kind of show you're watching. And understandably blurred for RU-vid, because *wow*
Nice John Williams "Jaws" edit. As a brass player (tryumpet and horn) thats played a LOT of his music in musical career, I greatly appreciate it! I drew the same conclusion between Emma and Enid from "Wednesday" as well.
I dont think anyone knows what this show is. Never heard of it. Own over 1900 movies not counting tv series. Seen probably double that. In-the-know of whats hot and what's not. This is not that.
