dot to dot is only the beginning. you need to use a cam degree wheel and time that cam

Cool , how do you go about that when using a stock timing set and phaser locked !?! 🤨

@@JustCantSitStill personally I wouldn't used a phaser lock since there is still 1-2* of timing movement. I would use a vvt delete and do away with all it and gain 5 lbs rotational weight off the front of the cam

@@32krazy1 I am not sure how many kits are out there that delete the phaser and allow for degree adjustment besides a jesel , the LME kit doesn’t allow for adjustment. Most people will not spend 1k plus on a timing set especially with the cam builders getting more precise these days dot to dot has worked find for us in about 60 LS engines and 60 plus LTx’s. Your comment made it seem like you’re suggesting we are doing something incorrect, if the cam co tells you dot to dot and includes the phaser lock what else would you do or use?🧐

@@JustCantSitStill thats the entire point. when adding a bigger cam with more overlap you DONT want any movement of the cam . a vvt delete is just that turning a lt vvt motor into a ls none vvt setup. as for cost cutting corners leads to failures. do it proper or dont do it. I spent over a yr collecting parts and saving money to buy the proper parts to do it right. cant say ive seen any decent shop ever just do dot to dot and walk away. they make degree wheels for a reason. and the cam card for a reason . did you check the specs on that motor to see if the dot to dot matches what the card requires? no way to kn ow if its in spec without decreeing the cam. will it run? probably. is the right way. not for me

@@32krazy1 Degreeing the cam is just basically to check that the cam was ground correctly...if you're using a stock timing set , dot to dot is what it’s going to be. If you want every tiny bit of horsepower out of your setup, and want to purchase an adjustable timing gear set then yes degree it. We don’t build race engines these are just cruisers with decent power. I've put well over 100 cams in using the "dot to dot" method, and never had any problems.

Question about the "Lash Cap" if I use a LT4 HPFP and an "Fore Innovations" low side fuel pump do I still use the "Lash Cap"? With that being said, I will be using a "SS3 Camshaft" from GPI Performance.

Thanks for watching! Did the cam come with a lash cap? Does the cam have a % fuel lobe?

@@JustCantSitStill the Lash cap came separate but is part of a set, Lobe is 32%. It’s GPI performance Cam package

@@levelup3426 if using the LT4 pump I would say it’s not needed but reach out to the cam manufacturer to make sure. The Texas speed kit was clear that is was not needed but even if it’s installed I don’t think it would hurt anything.
