My wife and I are chinese students who immigrated after graduate school. The key is don't let your paycheck change your life style quickly. Continue to live like a student and allow yourself a little more luxury slowly. When you finish graduate school, the first paycheck is going to make your eyes pop. But it's much harder to deny luxury once you had it. The opposite is true, you don't miss what you never had. So only let your life style grow slowly.
