Late Gen X, grew up in a very inner-city urban environment, went to HS and college in the 90s. NOBODY called it "bustin' a sag." Things from this list that were way more 80s than 90s: Jelly shoes, rolling up one pant leg, snap bracelets. "One-strapping" a backpack has absolutely nothing to do with fashion or trends and everything to do with it's just easier to drop your bag when you get to the classroom. And wearing a shirt tied around your waist has been done by everyone for decades. Jesus H Christ, do you ever have people who were actually THERE make these lists?

The wallet chain wasn’t spawned just from the mosh pit. As a skater, we also wore them so we wouldn’t lose our wallets. Pretty much every X sports kid did. It also applies to bikers so they don’t lose their wallets. Granted, bikers tend to not have a wallet, but more of a chained billfold.

I used to wear the skater brand Caffeine & it was pretty wild! I even had JNCO shoes...they were soooo comfortable! I wore them until they disentigrated! Those Adidas sandles that everone had! All they are saying in this video is these are trends that happened in 90s. That's it. Now, could these trends be trends in previous decades?? Absolutely. No one is arguing that. They are just presenting trends that were popular in 90s. And bowl cuts and one strapping was absolutely popular in the 90s. They maybe popular in the 70s and 80s too. 0:28 no they didn't call it that. I was in high school & college in the 90s, and the year 2024, today, was the *_FIRST_* time I heard that phrase.

The backwards hat are still in also. I see that all the time. And I'm pretty sure if Sierra's husband wore his hat backwards and walked like he has to poop, she'd divorce his ass

No one ever called it "busting a sag". It was simply "saggin'".

The thing with trends back then, they were regional as there was no internet. Most trends were adapted from teen magazines or music videos

1990's goth, went to the thrift stores and wore just an actual slip lol. Finding cool vintage ones was a plus.

Those jelly shoes have existed way longer the 90s. I was born in 1972 (in Belgium) and when I was a kid jelly shoes were a thing for kids to protect their feet from the warm sand, or if you went swimming in rivers or lakes you wore jelly shoes so you wouldn't hurt your feet on rocks.

One of my Sociology professors told us that the sagging pants originated in prisons, when the men that were "available" would show it by sagging their pants (which makes sense, since they are almost offering up the behind). Not 100% sure if it is true, but it is still something I would want to be told to EVERY SINGLE GUY, maybe the ugly trend would disappear.

There are so many jails that would have their own reasons for this but according to my dad who was in/out of jail a lot in CA it was actually because they gave him more underwear per week than pants so it was better to sit and let the underwear get dirty vs the pants bc he could change them more frequently.
