If that's the actual story and she is finally "cured" at the end of her questline and changes her appearance back to a regular high elf woman, then I could go along with that angle. I somehow doubt it will be the case though. It will all be spun in a positive direction to keep Concord audience happy, because you know, they're the majority that keeps all the lights on and bills paid. (Sarcasm)
@@njmfffWell, I think they had Nocturnal appear as a redguard. They literally made the patron of thieves black. Funnily enough, the thieves guild DLC is also in Hammerfell...
TBH I kind of hope TES VI and GTA VI both flop. They're such big franchises and the fans have been waiting forever for a new game and it will only take some DEI stuff to ruin it for many of them when it finally comes to their favorite franchise
Nothing has been good thats came out of a western studio the last 10 years, there's no hope none its all gone the only thing next is to do a cultural 180 and allow good original stories to be made
They said they weren't even gunna start working on Elder Scrole 6 until they completely finished development for shitfield, I mean Starfield, I would be surprised if we even see a shred of Elder Scrolls 6 in the next 8-10 years
This is blown all out of proportion. It's one companion. They're completely optional and quite minimal content. It's not like they bent a world story around it and forced players into it.
I've only been playing a short time compared to many people, but I actually like Bastion. The only thing he ever frets about is actively stealing something or killing innocents (and I just unsummon during guild quests or when I come across something I want to steal). While he might make a comment about killing frogs or rats or snakes, you don't lose "faction" with him, and you can collect all the butterflies you want without him saying a peep. Another thing I like about him is that he's just a regular, normal guy with regular, normal good-guy ethics. He's the type of person I'd be glad to know in real life. I think he gets portrayed unfairly at times.
Same mayne.. I've stopped playing cod for years, just because of the way the game industry is now days. I'm sure it's still somewhat fun? Maybe.. lol. But it's hard to accept what they are doing on that side of the fps gaming sphere.. shits a nightmare with patents that are used to actively cater towards whales, and kids with credit cards😂 That's just the tip of the iceberg lol
Thing is, would just another Skyrim not be boring by now? Even that done well is suspect. People expect that next-level and Bethesda doesn’t have that in them. They ride the coattails of peoples work who are long gone. Some dev you’ve never heard of and did all the real work.
instead of obsessing over gender bs i thought they would finnally fix the class balance issues so im not forced to play a caster spec for higher dps output
@@elderwiz3165 It's made by BGS. Look at Starfield,it's woke and that is their latest game. It has pronouns and at least 1 trans, which,I might add,you cannot avoid. Todd follows the left's rules.
Vivec was Genderfluid back in Morrowind in 2002 and he's probably one of the most important characters in Morrowind. "Vivec wants to be all races, all genders, but in the end he can only be Vivec"-Sotha Sil. now Vivec wasnt gender fluid to check boxes, he was that way because Michael Kirkbride designed him that way along with taking alot of inspiration from Hindu mythology. This character was added just to check boxes.
Very good point. The literature in the Vivec sermons lore and beyond go even further to explain this. This game is fantasy and fictional and the story arcs serve nothing more than to build a background for the characters we know. If we start seeing content added for feelings and contributions to societal progression alone I fear that we will see a shift in the game's paradigm of fantasy lore and fictional stories to one more of a social acceptance platform. But let's hope we all view and have fun with the character before we fully judge; I will do my best to walk into this new character progression with my blinders on from a social stance and judge them according to depth of character and voice lines and acting; just as many of us did with Mirri and Bastion we may end up changing the frequency of the newest companion character's dialogue frequency.
This is why anymore I don’t want them to make the Elder Scrolls VI. Even though the elder scrolls have been my childhood they’re just going to demonize it.
@@ronaldnelson6692 Correct. They cannot die and their gear is companion gear only. Besides, you don't have to play with a companion. I do most of the time because I'm alone and get lonely, but I have a couple characters that fly solo. Also, this will mark the 1st time BGS will be charging for companions. Only ESO Plus members get them free and we can choose to avoid the ONE you don't want. To "get" companions to follow you they have a quest that must be done,so all of this is avoidable except knowing it exists.
The difference between Molag Bal, Antiochus Septim, and Vivec and this new forgettable character is that the former's gender and sexual preferences are just a footnote in their lore while the latter's is the only reason why they exist.
So last I checked Molag Bal created Vampires by rping women (seems pretty much the opposite of being gay), Antiochus never even appeared in any of the games and it even states on the wiki that he was a "womanizer" and lastly I don't remember Vivec being gay either lmao. I haven't played ESO so unless they changed something there, this is not a case of "there has been queer characters before" no, this is entirely new lore they've pulled out of thin air.
@@Dirtbag-HyenaI think male purebloods were turned by sacrificing the women. That's how it was with the Volkihars. Only Valerica and Serana were rapped.
Remember: it's the reason WHY the game developers did it, that it's important. Not just that they did it, but pay attention to the reason why. Ultimately, ZeniMax & Bethesda, added this new gender confusion in "Elder Scrolls Online" (ESO) on purpose, to make an "identity politics" statement, based on their progressive ideology. They did not add this new gender nonsense, into ESO, to improve the lore, the story, or the character development. "They/them/their" plural pronouns is done to inject woke leftist propaganda, into an entertainment medium, which will reach a larger audience with their progressive messaging. And, please do not let anyone gaslight you, or lie to you, by claiming that the gender-bender pronoun confusion, has always existed, because of the Daedric Princes in the Elder Scrolls Lore. You can go and look up the lore & stories for yourselves, in online Fandom Wikis, and you will see that the context of the Daedric Princes, in the previous Elder Scrolls storylines, is VERY different, from the current attempt to "modernize" aspects of the plot, by introducing gender-confused characters, into ESO (a game that is 10 years old, at this point). The prior entries on the Daedric Princes, serves the original lore; these current characters, with they/them/theirs gender-confused pronouns, is done to serve a real-life identity politics agenda, aimed at changing peoples' perception, on their beliefs, or understanding, of what gender is. It's another attempt at identity politics propaganda, and not good story-telling, in an already established, and popular, video game series, with a built-in audience.
In every companion's skill tree it's they/them when they describe the skills. It's extremely confusing. "Mirri Elendis shrouds themselves in refreshing shadows, healing for 25% of their Max Health and becoming invisible for 3 seconds. Used when Your Companion is below 50% Health." The dumbest shit ever.
Honestly i feel like this is just a development quirk, they probably have companion kits drawn up before the character itself is designed, at first its just "templar companion" and later became "isobelle" Would be nice if they took the time to go back and tweak the descriptions tho lmao Other theory is they use them to imply other characters use these exact same techniques that we cant make a companion just to try and make them seem part of the world more
@@SocialExperiment232 Nothing wrong with being different. Only if you try to impose that different-ness on others. Ironically, those narcissists are the most average and boring people ever below their masks
They already added a trans character in the Summerset update as well, a man who becomes a woman. Part of the quest is that you are searching for a man and surprised to find out that he’s actually the woman you’ve been interacting with the whole time.
@@HelpW4nted So like a Lena Dunham or Leslye Headland situation but a younger brother instead of a younger sister? That could actually be a sympathetic character back story for a him/her.
@badlaamaurukehu I don't know who those people are, but I guess so. The story was that he and his (twin?) Sister were both set to join the Sapiarchs on account of their magical ability. His sister was excited, but he wasn't. He wanted to be a stage performer instead of a scholar, but his sister didn't like that and tried to prevent it. So he ran away to the house of revelry. In the house, actors need to create a new identity that they play in public. Revealing their real identities to the audience gets them kicked out. So the brother creates the identity of Alchemy, who is a woman. Alchemy is who he plays when in public. Only the vestige and his sister know his true identity.
Unfortunately this isn’t the first one. The assistant “Azandar” that you get from the necrom expansion is only ever referred to as “they/them” and it’s super cringe. Is obviously a man.
@@naplzt4komg I hated frii so much 😂 in Germany they even invented new pronouns for him and I literally googled those words and they don’t even exist. I thought the voice actors had a speech impediment when they used those made up „pronouns“.
@@SalanmoGizamy lmao that's hilarious you thought they had a speech impediment....crazy times we live in that people are just making up words and genders
This fungus is seeping through everything we love. I've been playing ESO since day 1. I'm a Plus member. This was devastating to say the least. I don't know what to do,now. I've invested so much time and money into this game, but this is sickening. I saw it yesterday on HTM. They're charging for these companions for the 1st time except ESO Plus members and I will NOT be getting HER. SHE IS A SHE. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HUMAN NON-BINARY. This is devastating.
I will keep playing for as long as I'm enjoying the game (for now), but I will not be purchasing this garbage companion from the shop even if she is "free". While it would be nice to have a bit longer time to unlock chests, it's not worth having some whiny blue-haired woke woman following you around complaining about how "oppressed" she is and not understanding her "it-ness".
@@rebeccachapman1231 Besides, the cat highlights heavy sacks which I find a much better perk. It still bites that nothing is sacred anymore. Anything we love can catch the mind virus from the liberal left.
@@Dirtbag-Hyena It seems there are certain words that trigger YT's auto-censor. It's so annoying that they don't just tell you that your message can't go through unless you edit, so you are left having no clue what it didn't like. Been caught by it many times.
@@rebeccachapman1231 What's annoying is that as the years go by we get more and more sensored. In a country with freedom of speech why is it I get scolded and told to hush like a 2yr old. I'm in my 50s,this is maddening.
There's a fine line in being inclusive, and trying to transform the whole IP into an agenda. As some have said, there's a difference between a character designed to be a certain way organically, and one which was designed specifically for the purpose of checking a DEI box. There's no way that new character reflects the interests of a majority of the player base. Instead of publishing content most will enjoy, they decided to publish an agenda... and that is very disappointing. There's better ways to give players the opportunity for inclusion. Add customization features which allow players to make companions which look and identify however they want. There's ways to create a tide that lifts all ships. But in a world that is already filled with agenda-driven narratives, it's disappointing to see those things creeping into gaming spaces which should feel neutral and safe.
That "modern audience" that always screams "representation matters" but their corny modern representation efforts never succeed like they want to because the people they catered to weren't showing up to support the thing. Or they still haven't caught on that the demographic they're catering to isn't as big as they think it is. They're flaky at best, and they're not actually interested in the franchise they get a hold of. Because all they know how to talk about is how their lifestyle or social and political views got the spotlight in it. I see it every single time. These people are the worst customers.
Pelinal Whitestrake. He was gay. To an Elf he's a villain, to humanity he's a hero who destroyed the Aylieds and freed the nedes from enslavement and torture. He was designed that way not to check boxes but because Micheal Kirkbride just happened to make him that way. St. Alessia who started the rebellion and created the 9 divines also happened to make children with Morihous son of Kyne who was a giant bull. She wasn't created to appeal to zoophiles and furries, she was created because Michael Kirkbride likes to write crazy shit. This gender fluid character in ESO is just here to check boxes that's the difference.
In 2018 ESO released Summerset and it already had falling trajectory. In one of the early quests you are hired by a woman to find her brother who she thinks has been offed by a travelling theatre troupe. Turns out he’s a drag queen who is trying to escape his old life and has a female npc skin. Hammerfell doesn’t exist, abandon all hope of it.
You probably didn't encounter the author of Lusty Argonian Maid in Morrowing...like 20 years ago. Characters like these always existed in Elder Scrolls, don't play surprised.
Come on Bethesda, go woke go broke, elder scrolls series are the best games out there in my opinion when I see a good gaming studio start to do things like this I feel like Obi-Wan "don't try it Anakin"
In ESO case there were characters like that since day one (the game came out in 2014), there are some quests with them etc. When it come to TES series it always had mature themes and if you are into lore there are things like that since Daggerfall (it came out in late 90s). I think people surprised by that are not really into TES or maybe are not able to read quests/books in the game world. Which I would not be surprised by :)
I disagree. There was a clear shift to "modern agendas" since the summerset questline, or at least that´s where i felt it. You never got beaten over the head with this over the top "feminism" in the single player games. There were lots of strong women, but nobody was annoyed because it didn´t feel like it does now.
Qr Thry has nothing to do with being gay. Qr Thry as it is defined by its proponents like Gayle Rubin and Michel Foucoult is primarily concerned with the repeal of age of cnsnt laws. One doesn't have to be a legal scholar to understand why Qr Thry proponents wish to decriminalize what they desire to do with the yung.
@@MelonieMacGoBoom Jesus knows best. Maybe Queer Theory is the reason why these things are sinful, but He knows best and said that this activity is sinful. That's all we need.
@@MelonieMacGoBoom I'm not making that argument. I'm stating that proponents of Qr Thry have hijacked the Gay Rights movement and are using it as a fig leaf to hide their agenda. And the agenda of the Qr Movement is most definitely focused upon the children. This is why events like Drg Qeen Story Hour are so important to them. They must gain access to children in order to fulfill their fetishes. Remember they celebrate Desmond is Amazin not because he dresses like a ballerina but because he dresses and acts like a stripper. And this is why the Qr Movement is insistent upon inserting these types of characters into games. It is to proselytize to the yung.
@@MelonieMacGoBoomConsider Galatians 3:28 (NIV): “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
People need to just tell these people "No." We're just fine with letting you live your life, but when you try to inject your ideaology into everything, an ideaologly thats morally repugnant to many, you're just angering people.
Skyrim had same sex marriage options but, you had to wear the Amulet of Mara to trigger it and accept the proposal. Even then, it gives you the option to back out at the ceremony.
there is nothing wrong with that. People should have the freedom to do whatever they want. I gets annoying when you get hit over the head with the virtue signalling by "good guy" developers over and over until the point where the immersion breaks and the game only feels like a vehicle for the developers "good message".
I just play stuff that came out in the late 1990s, and Factorio. nb4 Factorio's new update gives one of the robot arms blue hair and an insufferable personality.
I haven't played games in years, the AAA games industry is just like the rest of the entertainment industry, made by demon possessed satanist trying to influence you
I'm a hardcore gaming collector. I have most consoles since 2600. I stop playing modern games and wait for the physical definitive edition. I'm just finishing my thousands of backlogged games.
I avoid most of them and only play the occasional good ones. I recommend you look into "Empire of the Ants", it looks like a video game focused on fun/entertainment.
I don't see a problem with true inclusivity, meaning inclusivity that just lets anyone play the game, I just don't want this corporate, forced DEI bs. Because usually this stuff comes from some push to make everyone else feel like they're bigots if they don't all go out and be the LGBT character.
Omg bethesda what are you doing ffs... First they added pronouns to starfield, not a big deal they said... The playerbase just sucked it up silently. And now they decided to go all in.
Gamers play games as a way of escaping the real world and not dealing with it's problems. If you bring real world problems into games it gets rejected because people don't want real world issues in there games
Hi, real ESO player here (being playing since the beta). I can confirm we got this instead of Dungeon and Zone DLC. I would like to apologise to the Firesong DLC.
I'm not entirely surprised that this happened I mean they pretty much told everyone where they stand when they release starfield, so this The elders scrolls 6 and future games well probably just be just like this.
I feel like a lot people will gaslight, trash talk, and attack me for simply sharing my opinion here, but this is nothing new to me. Anyone remembers Alchemy from the House of Reveries in Summerset? Or the argonian Chal-Maht from Lilmoth in Murkmire? There are sidequests for them. Feel free to do them. You'll learn something.
When it comes to gay and straight characters, that's completely fine, that's actually in lore of TES games, and no one really cares as long as it isn't their whole personality. Now, Trans ideology has no place in games like TES. People need to stop self inserting and forcing political agendas into games. Vivec is literally a Hermaphrodite, Vivec is LITERALLY called the ONLY LIVING HERMAPHRODITE because He is a Living Duality in every sense, he isn't confused about gender he is an anomaly. TRANS ideology is about Biological gender, and the person not accepting reality, they are literally delusional, and has no right being compared to Vivec.
This is the third time RU-vid has recommended this video and I don't know why, I'm already subscribed to Melonie Mac Channel, I'm going to watch the whole video and hopefully stop recommending it again.
I have a feeling Elder Scrolls is going to die with Skyrim being the last good game. Corpos are running their most popular and profitable franchises into the ground.
I know it's fantasy (and I love playing ESO myself), but she's confused because she's possessed by Daedra (evil spirits in ESO) and you know what, that makes more sense than they expected (no pun intended). I think these people are possessed by evil spirits in the real world if they think these gender confusion things. Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction. BTW that Games journalist is full of it. Molag Bal is the Daedric Prince of Destruction and Schemes (and the main bad guy you fight) and is not queer at all (he's the creepy horned fellow you see in the article) and even though Vivec is soft spoken, eccentric, and a poet god, he is NOT queer. In fact, in Elder Scrolls lore, he and Amalexia (a dark elf goddess) were once lovers. Can't be queer and have a beautiful goddess lover.
This is what I have been telling people. When they use they/them, it is because there are legions of demons living inside of them. Like when Jesus asked that possessed guy his name and he answered legion, for we are many. so any time a gay person tells you to call them, they/them, you know why.
"Queer characters like Molag Bal" I'm sorry, do you really, really, REALLY wanna use a character who has several titles including the King of Grape without the G as a representative of LGBT characters? Is that REALLY what you wanna go with?
The lore has the characters swing both ways. So this is redundant as F. Yes, Vivec in the lore before all this crap happen. Vivec had both parts man and women parts. No defend the freak shows, but this one is true.
It’s the same thing as star wars the book of bobafett trying to make the audience sympathize with the sand people. They’re savages. They’re not good guys.
This underscores the need for gatekeeping, because if they manage to sneak in even a tiny, debatable bit, it becomes the excuse and justification for the next bit and the next.
NGL as a Latino I hate how all the emphasis is being put on us. They add in a non binary character who is a fictional race called Elf and who comes from a world where apparently Mexicans live aka Victor Ortiz the elf from Tanlorin.
