How many elite boxers today who had as good as Turner's resume.
Loved Main Event when I was a kid. I didn't start watching boxing until 1959 and it filled in my boxing "background." Marciano seems very ill at ease in front of the camera here. Maybe an early episode. Also his late remark comparing Gil Turner to Harry Greb was weird: as guys who never won a title, "great, but never quite got there." Really? Greb was middleweight champ in the 1920s and was so ferocious he defeated top lightheavyweights, and even chased Jack Dempsey for a heavyweight title fight. (Greb was also the only guy ever to beat Gene Tunney,) But what the heck. The Rock was a great fighter and I love his accent.
