One of the best possible ways to spend 12 minutes of my life. Well actually I've listened to it multiple times so way more than 12 min. It doesn't get any better than this.
I have never heard of these two excellent piano artists, but I am hooked now ! I love their playing. Beautiful. The bass player and drum are excellent as well. Great group of musicians! . .SYLVIA!
Gene was/is the grooviest pianist. He made his name and art form via his trio - The Three Sounds - for the Blue Note label. Soulful, funky and a swinging master at the ivories. Accompanied by a stellar rhythm section. Enjoy folks, G’day & Cheer!
The lads and lassies coming out of Berklee or N. Texas or Indiana should be locked in a padded room and forced to listen to this non-stop for six hours. The sine qua non of jazz is PASSION. If they don't "get " jazz after that, ship them off to Smooth Jazz Hell! I call Harris "Oscar Peterson with dirt under his fingernails!" (Can't imagine OP ever doin' that Les McCann Oggie Boogie sway. The other old fart does a nice job of keeping up with him. A couple of great performances.
Soooo nice to listen to Gene Harris and Roger Kellaway! Solid accompaniment by Bob Crenshaw and Grady Tate! Remember Roger Kellaway from the opening tune for ‘All in the Family’ (Best sitcom ever...)
