I'm an Aussie in my 50s, and find a lot of these words/phrases quite old-fashioned. I've never said "chookas", and I haven't said "rack off" since the 80s! 'Daggy' is a classic, though. Much better than the US equivalent 'goofy'.
I think a lot of slang comes back around again. Kind of like fashion :p The word chookas is very specific to theatre and is commonly used. More so than the typical 'break a leg'.
I thank you for your deeper level research into the meaning of “cheeky” I’ve mostly learned about many phrases in context from doing audiobooks and so i have a general sense of how/when some phrases can be used, but this was a great explanation. Thanks. : )
So many of these are used in the south of the US. Not all, but a good many of them! The Australian accent is surprisingly similar to my southern accent as well so not difficult to do.
Aaaahhh thanks for watching! I'm so glad your kids are liking it. :-) Our production has been put on hold for a while because of the Covid lock down, but we're working towards getting something new out ASAP!
this is gonna sound odd, but how would you say the name, bea minor, with an australian accent? i was invited to a murder mystery, and my character is australian, and i want to do the accent and be able to pronounce the name correctly
