The endless nights, the frustration, the blood sweat beers and tears...All done for your son...Got 2 sons myself Petty fans they are... And 74 was the car they wanted ... 74 charger we built...I know all you went through...The best is the first ride...The smile on the kids faces....Only a select few will really understand this vid...Beautiful car...You Sir are a real dad...
Bought a tear to my eye, pure beauty in the making. I live in Australia and it kills me knowing I will never own the car of my dreams. Drive her with pride; Long Island's General Lee has arrived.
I'm sure one day you will get one ( the classic Dodge Charger is my dream car too and it's really hard to get a charger in the UK ) but I'm sure you will get one mate don't give up on it ;-)
We all know the doors are supposed to be welded shut, but only stunt vehicles had welded shut doors to prevent them from opening. Other than that, the General Lee's doors were locked.
I bet your Son was beside himself. I thought it was cool taking pics of him with the car during restoration. I have some of my Son with my Elcamino while we were working on it. They are my favorite things. He will also treasure them years from now when he owns The General. Good job Dad!! The world needs more guys like you passing on the love of cars.
The best parts are where your boy makes his appearance showing that even with the difficulties in a car build that you all made it a family project with everyone's involvement.
I loved this video, it's real good to see your boy involved in all the stages of restoration, I think he's learned to love the car as much as you do & will make a great custodian when his time comes, well done mate from the UK.
This really brought tear's to my eyes from the music to the car it's self takes me back to around the same time period when my parents were getting a divorce and I was only about 3 then but other than that this was the first time I got to build a truck with my dad it was my first motor ever doing.we still have the truck and actually we just put a 400 big block in it.Oh what I would give to go back in time and relive that all over again.😭😭😭
THAT a thing of PURE BEAUTY! I want one very bad! VERY NICE JOB! There is a guy not far from me that has one of the orig. ones from the series he rebuilt. I think there are only 17 of them that still exist.
This video makes my day, knowing theres people out there willing to spend alot of time both good and bad into these magnificent pieces of history...the way it should be, instead of leaving them to rott and die
well, I have nothing more than a great respect for you my friend! not only for restoration, but the spirit of building something special with your family. Unfortunately we don't have much of that here in Brazil ... My sincere congratulations for you and your sons !!!!
arb9399, I can't help but to notice the knit picking comments and dislikes!!!! Totally unbelievable!!!! There are truly a lot of sorry people out there. You did a beautiful job on the car and you and your son should be proud. Great job!!!!!!!!!
Increíble!!! Que buen trabajo y que lindo que lo hayas hecho en compañía de tu hijo. Yo tengo un Malibu del 79', desde Antofagasta Chile, un fraternal saludo!!!
this is what makes legends and never will be forgotten the whole life from father and son... love the car and the memory of my childhood with the Dukes and the american legend muscelcar greatings from GERMANY
Nice car and job well done. If I was going to make one of these I would try and go for the original design from the first episode. Leave the vinyl top chrome trim on 1/4 panel top half and remove the gas cap trim ring. Full roll cage and a narrow front push bar. I think the engine was a 383cid. Trunk mount CB antenna and the crossed flags on the rear glass panel. I would leave the doors unwelded for access and to roll up the windows when it rains.
1969 Dodge Charger was one the best cars built .my father had a 68 same style I use to love the look of that car . I remember stopping at the gas station and putting gas in it . It had an awesome gas cap .
THANK YOU FOR WANTING TO KEEP THE GENERAL LEE ALIVE AND LIVING AND KEEPING THE FAITH OF THE TRUE SOUTH ALIVE AS WELL LONG LIVE DIXIE. KEEP THE FLAG FLYING REBEL YELL!!!!!!!!
awesome vid. thanks for putting that together, and congrats on bringing the car to life, and the time spent was well more than worth it. Can't wait to do the same thing in my life sometime.

She is so beautyfull ! Thank you for having saved. So realistic, restored and well done, you are awesome ! In France we loved this show. Thank to keep the memory of a special tv star ;)
what i would do with that car, thanks for posting this video, i'm from portugal a 16 year old pal, and i would like to say that u really have a nice job in there, we don't have dodge chargers in portugal...really there isn't a single one, the best u can see around here is probably a Chevy Nova !
really amazing to see how an ordinary father rebuilds some classic like this with his son! this is what I call keeping traditions! Would be nice to know how much money you have spent on this car.
Nice job man, im re-doing a Charger R/T just like you, General Lee for the win! but im just searching around and seeing how other people are getting along with making General Lee's, Again man, Good Job. =]
That is one beautiful car my good friend. I wish that I could have one of my own. If I ever become a millionaire, I will do all that I can to get my hands on one.
