General Motors along with Bedrock announced plans Monday to move the automaker's iconic headquarters in the Renaissance Center to the new Hudson's site.
The ren cen could accommodate over 10 thousand employees, now there's less than 2 thousand. GM doesn't need the space. Most employees hate going into detroit and transfer at every opportunity.
( My belief ) They’ve been looking for a way out LONG BEFORE the pandemic … As far back as when that last large renovation THAT WAS CANCELLED … some years ago… that was the beginning of the end … They started moving branches of that building to different states and other areas outside that building to the suburbs … had they used ALL the resources available to them they could have kept that office full . Dan Gilbert HAS been GOOD rejuvenating and MUCH THANKS I just WISH we had OTHER power brokers here to that have the same commitment to the city excluding the llitch people😒THE FORD FAMILY has been GOOD for Detroit a some NEW ENTRANTS would be a welcome .
