Thanks so much for this information. I thought I’d dive right into loan signing because I heard that’s where the money is; however with the market I have some pause about doing that. Your video made the case for GNW. My plan now, after watching your video, is to master GNW, grow my notary business then pivot to loan signing. You dropped a lot of gems here. I haven’t even got my stamp in the mail yet but I’m already strategizing. Thank you for the information! New subbie 😃

The kind of signing you did w/ the Russian guy is called an, "Apostille" which is very much like a regular notary job. Only in this case you were being asked to notarize in reference to foreign paperwork. Yes, there is money in it. If you do it right. I think those types of notary signings go for, upwards of $145 or more. Best of (continuing) luck to you. You go, girl. CA native, here.

I’m glad you said something about getting a Google and a Yelp page. I’m thinking about being an online notary and doing online notary work. So, I’m just trying to get as much information as I can.

Great information. I'm a newbie in NorCal and had the same thoughts in mind...starting with GNW. I do have a few questions for you Did you start your LLC right away? Did you take a loan signing course? If so, which? Do you meet at clients home or public setting when notorizing? Thanks for making this channel and sharing your experience as a notary.

I didn’t start my LLC right away but I did create it a few months into my Notary journey for protection. I took the Notary 2 Notary LSA agent course. Hi! I just got my notary commission in the State of Texas. I'm not NNA certified yet, but I'm looking to start just doing general notary work. Where do you recommend getting your first clients? I created ads on Facebook, Craigslist, and am planning to sign up on Yelp and Google Business.

I almost spit my tea out when you brought up that Google Business page. My business page got disabled for some nonsense literally right before I watched your video. And it’s been a struggle trying to troubleshoot. I almost feel like the free Google page is not worth the drama. Good luck with your business and thanks for the good video.

I think I would be happier doing general notary work as well but Im confused on how you make money doing that? What do you mean when you say you set your own fees? I thought each state had a limit on what you can charge per signature or document. Like here in NYS you cant charge more than $2 per signature. So what are you charging fees for exactly. Thank you.

She’s charging travel & convenience fees. The NNA has a full list state by state, but the majority do not have set fees other than the cost of the actual seal/signature. The ones that do have it set charge by the hour or mileages instead. In VA for example, its $5 per seal but the travel fees is up to the notary as long as it’s agreed upon by the client beforehand. So like she said she charges $25 to meet with the client in most cases plus the $15 for the seal. That’s how you make your money

In person marketing and having a Google Business page is how I got started. Make sure to also have your clients leave reviews on your Google Business page. The more reviews you get the more Google pushes out your page. Best of luck to you! Get in there! 🙏🏿

Awesome content!! Is it NECESSARY to have a Website as a General Notary? How do you get a Google business page and what are the basic start up costs? I prefer to start out without a website and add it later!! Will that work??? Thnx!

We can actually set up a Google business page for free... don't do the Google ads, you'd have to pay for that one

I think all together I probably spent $400. That included: insurance, website, supplies, RON, accounting,licensing, business & marketing, etc. And YES you want a website (there’s free ones) or at least social medias cause otherwise word won’t spread about your services. Once you’ve got that, link them on your Google business page (another must & it’s free) that way that when people search for notaries near them on google maps, you can pop up there too

Tip about Google Business, look for another Google service that offers a phone number and call them. When they answer, let them know you had no way to contact Google Business and could they please connect you.
