Since a lot of people keep asking, the music is called "I Will Find Him", by Hans Zimmer. It's part of the film score.

You can also find this theme contained in the track 'Arcade' on the Soundtrack which has the entire Superman vs Zod scene music.

@walkingcubkid
@walkingcubkid 3 года назад
So true, he’s actually the best dceu villain of all time, he’s got the best motive of why he’s done these terrible things. He considers himself a necessary evil because he was bred for only one purpose, to protect the people of krypton. He tries taking the survival of krypton into his own hands by killing one of the counsel members for dooming the planet, only the sort of leadership he’ll be giving is that of a dictator. He even tried to plead with jor-el to fight with him. He only wishes to get the codex so that he could keep the people of krypton and it’s legacy alive, but tries to kill jor-el for it. He actually feels bad that he killed jor-el, even admitting that there doesn’t come a day where his death doesn’t haunt him, but he is still compelled to kill him again if needed, because he’s doing what it takes even if drastic to save his race, he tries to terraform earth to make a new krypton in hopes to bring back krypton and his people. I honestly like this version of Zod more than the original movie zod.
@Elphin89
@Elphin89 2 года назад
@@walkingcubkid but it makes absolutely no sense why he would want to terraform a planet like Earth which already has billions of people, he could have chosen any number of lifeless planets. There was absolutely no reason at all why he would need to destroy Earth. Krypton itself was already destroyed, so his maniac rantings about ‘saving Krypton’ were just hiding his true actual intentions - which was to be supreme ruler over an alien race

What makes Zod in this movie such a great villain, and certainly a much better villain than most alien invader-type villains, is his relatability. If you look at Zod's purpose objectively, all he wants to do is save his home and people from sure destruction by any means. If we humans drive Earth to destruction (which we are), then eventually, we will find many people like Zod, trying to save the world even through violence. Zod's death is truly a sad one. He wasn't a true "villain" as much as a martyr.

@Phantom8941
@Phantom8941 9 лет назад
+Desidium it really doesn't, as you are asserting that he was not relatable and was nothing more than a madman who was killing for the sake of killing. When in fact he was killing so that he could bring back his people, granted with his programming and personality he decided to go about in the wrong way but that doesn't make his cause any less admirable, and him any less relatable. Also he wasn't just terraforming so that he could spare the billions of infants to come a little pain, he did it to prevent their potential deaths because if every infant was going to be born with respiratory problems then the odds are in favor of there being a massive infant mortality rate.

This scene is so powerful for many reasons, Faora Ul looking over at General Zod for strength from the leader to whom she follows and admires and also showing him that she too can withstand the imprisonment process. You can tell the words "you think your son is safe?!" Affected Lara tremendously you can see the apprehension in her face when she hears General Zod's threat because she knew his words held much weight. Lady Lara was in tears as the capsules flew away because of the threats and fear that Zod will find Kal. Hans Zimmer's score just captured every nuance of the actors so well. This movie is a masterpiece.

Michael Shannon really knocked this out of the park. He was so much more complex & relatable as a character than Terrence Stampe's cartoonish portrayal. I loved Superman 2 as a kid as much as the rest of you, but let's be honest here- Go back and watch that movie again and you wouldn't be able to look me in the eyes and say with a straight face that Terrence Stampe's Zod had a genuine motivation. Stampe's Zod comes across as being a preening, arrogant aristocrat who has some bizarre fetish of wanting everyone he meets to kneel down. Thank God Michael Shannon came along and put the 'warrior' back into the character and showed Zod's real strength : his leadership. Imagine being this crew of surviving Kryptonians; how utterly hopeless it would all seem now in the wake of your planet's death. Zod kept them together and kept them focused, never allowing them to lose hope... for 33 fucking years! Alone. Stranded in space. For 33 years! Do you realize how easy it would have been to lose hope in that time or how easy it would have been to have your crew mutiny? Zod didn't. Zod kept them all together, focused, with no one onboard questioning his authority or judgement in all that time. That is something Terrence Stampe could never have done. I mean really- Could you imagine spending 33 years alone in space with that guy telling you what to do? Shannon's Zod never demanded subservience; he received it from his soldiers because he genuinely earned it. That's the mark of a true leader.

+Britton Thompson Although they were trapped in space for a long time, was it really 33 years from their perspective? Superman II is a classic but Man Of Steel gave us the better Zod

+Britton Thompson This version of General Zod, genetically engineered to become a leader, a General, a protector of his world, That's all he was doing, To him he was rightly doing what needed to be done to preserve krypton. It's his way of life even though the planet was doomed, That's what led him to try over throw the current leadership because he thought that was key to Krypton survival, The two versions cannot really be compared really, Terrance stamp version is a product of it's decade, Cartoonish villain. while this version was brilliantly written and portrayed by Michael Shannon
@SciAntGaming
@SciAntGaming 8 лет назад
+Abominatrix650 That would have been correct had they spent those 33 years in the Phantom Zone but they didn't. As seen in the movie the Phantom Zone prison machine was destroyed as soon as Krypton was, Zod even says that himself. Then they spent the next 33 years going from one Kryptonian outpost to another and salvaging what they could which is how they got the World Engine. They were trying to find a way to restore Krypton and only 33 years later after they were freed from the Phantom Zone and after Kryptons death, did they receive the message from the Scout Ship on Earth which was sent out when Supes activated it. Also, they do visibly age, atleast Zod does, since you can see the wisps of white hair on his beard when he reveals himself to Earth as compared to when he is freed from the Phantom Zone. For them 33 years might be more like 10 years since IIRC, Kryptonians do have longer lifespans than humans. So maybe that's why the rest of the crew doesn't look too aged, although even Faora's hairstyle changes and she does look like she went from 25 to 35 in Kryptonian years. Cheers from one MOS fan to the next! :)

When I watched this in the cinemas back in 2013 I think, this scene was the one that really gave me the goosebumps. The music, the visual and General Zods character. His determination regardless of how much mighty & painful force was used to keep him and his army away through damnation, it never effected his judgement. He fought for his belief till the end. He truly earned his place as a military general of krypton. It was also emotional for Lara as it was also farewell to her son who will carry the heavy responsibility and face the battle that is to come in the future.

Incredible acting that shows degree of dignity in each personality. Foara tries hard not to scream from pain in front of the councel. Zod from his facial expressions was trying to hide his pain behind his angry face. Challenge look from Lara to Zod while deep sadness for her husband and child was consuming her.

I still find it amazing that critics, especially rotten tomatoes, think that this movie is so mediocre, but then they praise a bland movie like Age of Ultron. Man of Steel is much better than Age of Ultron, and in my opinion was as good as any of the Iron Man movies.
@zhengyingli
@zhengyingli 8 лет назад
+bobizzle1605 I once sat down and read all of the rotten reviews, and most of the negativity had nothing to with Man of Steel, but they were all about how since this is not Christopher Reeve, it's not good. There are legitimate criticisms to be sure, but the "Not Reeve = Bad" mentality is simply lazy.
@bobizzle1605
@bobizzle1605 8 лет назад
+zhengyingli Exactly. I see that same criticism over and over, along with something like "Cavill is too emo!" Or "he's not acting like a cheerful Boy Scout enough he's too brooding!" Blah blah blah. It's like these people are ignoring the fact that this is meant to be a superman that grows over the course of the DCEU, that earns the trust and praise and respect of humanity over time along with the other heroes like Batman. And as a guy who never cared much for Superman and has always been a big batman fan, this movie made me like and understand his character even more, to the point where I'm actually going to be rooting for him in batman v superman to show the world just how much of a selfless hero he really is. This movie showed that despite his powers, he isn't perfect, and he's still quite flawed and therefore he has to earn the right to be this Boy Scout savior that everyone looks up to. I absolutely love that he is being built up this way. With all due respect to Christopher Reeve, may he rest in peace, this movie truly redefined Superman and it brought him even more fans than he had before. I've seen even huge batman fans say that they like him just as much now through this movie. At least the movie had a ton of depth and was inspiring, Age of Ultron was basically just a filler avengers movie that had a lot of boring moments and didn't get anywhere exciting until the last 10 minutes of the movie.

I wouldn't say the film sucks, I agree it takes a lot of unnecessary slack, but it's definitely far from perfect. Its solid for the most part but for me the best way I can describe it is a series of incredible moments like this scene here that are loosely connected together by extremely flawed, bland, or heartless filler. For instance the death of Clarks father (his Earth father) was laughable, he basically died saving a dog and on top of that Clark sits back and allows it to happen (I don't buy his reasoning for it, if my dad was in danger I wouldn't give a fuck who saw me fly in, I would save him) The whole angle of Clark being an unknown person who was mostly on the move and off the grid was completely unnecessary too, as well as the idea that Lois Lane was able to deduce his identity very quickly as a result. And although it's a superhero film the amount of destruction and semi collateral damage caused by Superman is friggin insane, I never thought I'd say it but I got sick of seeing explosions by the end of it, it seemed like Superman was as equally a large threat to everyone as Zod was, I assume that's exactly what they were trying to do in some ways to be fair but personally I don't think it worked, it just showed him to be careless and reckless in my opinion (although the last fight between him and Zod was awesome). I think what rattles me most tbh though is how seriously it takes itself, now don't get me wrong I don't think it should be riddled with humour like some of Marvels efforts (like Thor: Ragnarok which I absolutely fucking hated) but the whole film when it moves from Krypton to Earth is bland dark greys and dark blues and it's so bleak and gritty and humourless it kinda gets draining to watch, this is Superman for gods sake, crack a smile now and then lol. On the whole I would still rate it as one of the better DC films and it shows how visually Zack Snyder is a vastly underrated director, it's just a shame that his storytelling isn't quite as strong.

General Zod was an anti hero..Just tryin to rebuild krypton by destroying earth.

He would have made Krypton great again, I suppose. And making earthlings pay for it.

Make Krypton great again! We need to build a wall...the Earthlings are sending in their drug addicts, their rapists, their thugs....we'd build a wall and make the Earthlings pay for it

Well here is Zod's problem... If he wanted Krypton that bad... He could have colonized Mars!! xD lol the logic. But then we wouldn't have this epic movie ;-;

+xxTheTruMan196 Problem is though, Earths atmosphere is more nourishing, Zor EL stated that hence why he sent Kal to Earth not Mars

In the end he was still a villain. There was a whole universe out there to rebuild his planet. You know...somewhere that didn't have a super powered individual that would get in his way and wouldn't require genocide. Even if Earth was a good location, it was hardly the only choice in the entire universe. Zod was lazy. Take everything you need to rebuild your race and go somewhere else. His plan didn't require genocide, he simply chose to slaughter billions....because it was more convenient. That's not anti-hero.

I remember in Arkham Origins, the Joker saying something about how people's fates were sealed, not by fate or a higher power but simple human nature. Well we at least could fight that nature, that fate, that's what it means to have free will. But the Kryptonians didn't have free will, they were bred and engineered to perform specific roles, i.e. to be bound from birth to specific view point, they were bred to think how they think. Yeah, the Council was a pack of idiots, but they were designed to preserve Krypton's 'perfect' society as they saw it, they had no real choice in how they thought and therefore their actions. The same with Zod, the only choice I could say he made was at the end when he realized he could never fulfill his purpose and went mad with despair and even that is stretching it. Jor-El was lucky, as a scientist he was designed to be an open thinker, which helps with looking for new solutions. Supes was ultimately the only Kryptonian with a choice, which I think is what really destroyed his race, they had no choice in what they did.

Those were great words. And you right. But I feel supermans free will was wasted in the movie. He never really used his ideas in the movie.

Bull. Utter bull. Zod chose to rebel, kill the councilwoman, and his friend Jor El. He chose to invade Earth when he could have colonized one of our neighboring planets. Jor El and Lana chose to create a natural born life form. Destiny changes as we change. The only thing about our fates that is sealed is death.

Levon Gevorgyan Dude, I am talking about thought processing, all of them had personalities they were designed to have. No matter what happened in Zod's life, or Jor-El's life, they were always going to end up, the kind of people they were. All the choices they made around those ingrained personalities are still choices that could be called predetermined. Think about it, yeah Zod rebelled, but Zod was designed to protect Krypton, so when he saw that the council was an obstacle to that programmed goal of his, he would always going to rebel, always, clearly bad programming, but programming still.I can't for certain say Jor El and Lara were designed to be, but as a scientist, he would've most likely been given a personality that was more free-thinking, to come up with new solutions.

I love his delivery of "Jor' el was right, youre a pack of fools..." I love MOS and the DK trilogy.. it really feels that theres something at stake in these films... Marvel films while fun dont feel as if they carry consequence..I dont want grim and gritty but the tone just feels off to me.

One of the greatest villains ever written. Also Michael Shannon does him brilliantly. Would be interesting to have a full movie / series of Zod itself, Origin and all.

In all honesty... Superman is lame... trust me u think Superman is awesome while thinking General Zod is a villain, when in reality, Krypton would have seen them in mirror opposite way.... This is also the same thing with Batman/Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor... I mean thats a lot of similarity if you think about it... They wanted to humiliate Superman which they did... Perfect Nemesis... Billionaires... Smart men... Anti-hero material.. Both of them defeated Superman... People's Champion... Yet you cheer for Batman and boo Lex luthor... But in reality, both are alike... But they execute things in a different manner to accomplish the same goal..

Michael Shannon is brilliant in this role because he shows the intensity of zod's commitment towards saving Krypton at any cost. In my heart and mind he's not so much a villain but a patriot to his core beliefs.

He wanted to induce an omnicide on Earth in a misguided effort to rebuild Krypton on our graves. He could have regenerated 1,000 or 10,000 Kryptonians to be Superman scale superGuardians on Earth and co exist but he had no capacity for strategic thought or revisiting his limited perspective.
