Generation Zero - Making Friends [COMPANION UPDATE] 

Hey folks just a small correction, the runner will stick around after you log in and out so you wont need to recraft your companion every time. But if you ever do need to craft your companion again you now know how from this video! :D

Something i found out is that if you remove the MG on apocalypse tanks the dog can solo them with the SMG, may take awhile but it doesn't set off the mines

From a lore perspective, I like how the function of the individual doggos are explained. the radio communication and the native behaviour set when its not on the network

A hunter mech suit that allows you to jump higher and run faster would be sweet.

As a scandinavian its verry fun hearing people from other countries pronaunce swedish names like the bunkers, pansarvangs gevär and älgstuttsare🤣

Little tip: your doggo doesn't have to destroy the robot it just has to do some damage to it and you can finish it off to get the points for it ☺

Just finished a few hours of testing and having fun, after doing the missions. I have to say, it was a bit weird at first, because i also made two. Same with the Armor. I was just really stupid, hehe. As someone thats not the biggest fan of AI Companions, i have to admit: They made it great for me. It is really on and off. Now there is a real NEED for Repairkits and Steel (Yes yes, other dlc stuff also). I was suprised to much fun it actually was. Running around a tumbeling Tank and seeing the final Rocket of the Runner hitting big Time and downing it is just great. There is now even more Havoc, similar to Coop, but still different. I like the Pathfinding. Most of the Time its good enough. The Beaming sometimes feeeeels a bit unfair sometimes, because doggo gets shot at, i run - doggo gets beamed away from the Rockets. But hey. This is just really tiny to me. I absolutely adore the Emotes. This small Interaction. I love it. He helped and shot down a Tank? Good Boi. Spin. Hehe. I am going t obuy the DLC now, because i really like this Update. Also, if i feel like being alone, just pack it. Wonderful idea to have it as a "Gadget" Category. A great Addition and i am really surprised in general. Oh and the Sounds. For being free, this is quite something we got. Like it? Buy and support the Game. This is always in regards of how smol the team and the game is. All over i consider this an additional Atmosphere Boost.

I find myself already enjoying this update and the doggo. A little sad Wolf isn't any of the possible name options but there is a good variety of combinations. The only things I would ask for is the ability to set items we don't want our doggo to pick up if you're using the scavenging module or even upgrade it's carry capacity.

FYI, your doggo doesn't have to destroy machines on it's own to get points. As long as it plays a part in the battle you still get the points when the encounter is over

If I unlock this in a play through and decided to do a new game plus after I beat the game do I have to redo the mission to unlock the companion or will I have him for the new play through?

Csn i get the dog in the base version of the game ? Or do i need a dlc

Im9; ps4 I’ve done all the things in the making friends mission up until I need to go to the companion station problem is I can’t seem to interact with it and I don’t know if it’s bugged or if I’m just doing something wrong

Well, Bucket is great fun to have around. Can't take him near barbed wire, 'cos he runs into it and hurts himself! Unfortunately this update has lengthened the fuse on the grenade! It used to explode on impact, which was great. Then they lengthened it to ten seconds which was useless. Then they reduced it to three seconds which was okay, and now it's up to six seconds again, which makes it mostly useless, since nothing sits around for that length of time. I wish they'd put it back to impact, since it was one of the most useful weapons in the game!

I seem to have the worse pet, it cant take commands, so while I am fighting a tank+ mob, it either just sits there or it runs away and attacks a mob 500 feet away from me. Is this normal?

can someone tell the developer Health perk does not work on console, it's stays at 100% only.

Good thing that it is blue and grey like that instead of colored like the enemy runners. I would prob otherwise put a lot of valuable shock rounds into doggo.

It was fun for the majority of the farm area but it randomly teleporting causes 2 things: 1 - Knocks you into the air which causes death 2 - Knock a large robot into oblivion denying you it's loot

Soooo cute! Trouble is that the new update BROKE MY MOD! Now the game won't load -- just sits at the spinning 'loading screen' ... FOREVER! This is the ONLY mod I've used in the game and now it's broken ... ALREADY! I've HEARD that game updates often break mods, and now I KNOW from personal experience. Now I can't play the game cuz I can't run, can't p/u anything, can't recycle, and can't store anything. Thx, devs! Good times! Anyway, thx for the vid, Tene! Sorry, does anyone know how to unlock the rest of the armor plates? I don't understand why but the only armor I have is the standard one

I feel the need for more specific location indications - don't know where you went - from the beginning.

Cool, but are the Experimental weapons AG4, Astaldare, KVM89, Magnum. Fixed? Magnum doesn't scrapnel, Algustare sights are wrong and hipfire is to the left at the ground, AG4 doesn't ignite enemies properly, KVM89 doesn't have a front sight. Oh and the Experimental SMG with overcharge (x1.8 RPM) says something about slower fire rate for more damage yet it takes roughly the same amount of bullets to kill a hunter. Lastly the resource drops (1 explosive) - why bother? It makes 0 difference when its now 4 to craft 10 rounds. When before it was 25-50 rounds, not individual rounds. That needs to be changed back. The ammount of resources from propane tanks, car batteries, radios, fuel cells and Lures all need to be increased and/ or only need one to dismantle. Increase electrolyte gains and drops. I get one and only one just like explosives from any resource or specific, specific, enemies. Same with wood, 1 per tree? Takes 4 to craft something like a base wall that will last 2 mins in a base defense. Come on man!. Cut the cost or increase the drops. No negotiation here.

So which weapon is best for it ?

Does your companion need to make the kill or simply be around when the fight is won? Even if it has to do the kill you can use radios and lures to summon nearby enemies, then shoot off their weapons and let the doggo do the rest while you dodge and heal.

I hope they add a lynx as a companion in a future update the runner is a good boi tho

Is it just me or did some weapons and character skills get buffed? For example the remote hacking skill now has a 10 second cooldow everytime you use it? Btw im so happy the update is finally here i cant wait to get on gen zero to try it ...

Kinda sucks only one station to work on the companion. Should be able to build a station in your base

Not being able to control him (or even direct him) is super frustrating. He can be 2 meters away from you while you're exchanging fire with a tank, and he'll randomly target some runner 200 meters away, then wind up dragging 10+ more bots into a fight that was just supposed to be one, and his damage output isn't anywhere near enough to offset that much bigger a fight. At the very least, he should only be targeting bots that are actively targeting/engaged with you.

Crashes a lot when joining others in co-op - only thing bad with the update. Everthing else is great.

Question is, can it get into houses

It was a fun update done the mission in roughly 20 minutes funny thing is unlocked all paint jobs in the same spot in tool box's so I. Roughly over the game so I'm not paying for a over price dlc the robot companion is really dumb its runs into water a lot so I give it a 5 out of 10

14.200 Gb update for foot steps new sound. you know they are going to take full advantage of this and add skins and sell it to us more and more monetization. EDIT again. i actually like this companion, its pretty good against most machines havent tryed apoloypse tanks yet but next on my list

The basic armour is garbage

As cute as the companion is, this update is really underwhelming under the hood. Months of work for a standard runner with standard AI and a very short and basic questline, and no other content or updated areas? Feels like minimum effort to sell us another DLC.

The devs should be ashamed actually . After playing this game for years I realised something were never getting new area new island nope. We got control points lol and fashion in a fps lmao them now a companion all payed of course as they Try milking more cash no one asked for control points or fashion or companions we asked for new islands until then I advise all do not buy there dlcs until they get the hint new islands not new clothes or control points or companions to run round same areas have been for years . Get it together devs the games dying

This update sucks, performance was always rubbish cant even complete the quest the update was for. The ingame voicechat is garbage still to this day roughly 4 years and the Essentials are ignored for cash grabbing dlc's.

Ehh not fan of this update so not gonna be playing this time sadly. Very disappointed
