Today we are building this huge multi-generational modern farmhouse style home! I really wanted to do something huge and classic Doctor Ashley style for today's Real to Sims build. It can fit a family of 8 Sims or a family of 6 Sims and you can rent out the guest house! This is one of the largest builds I've ever done so I would be so happy if you enjoyed it! I lived on campus when I went to University but stayed with my parents over summer breaks because it's cheaper than paying summer rent for college. I think it's a really great idea for young people to not fully move out because while living at home, they can contribute to the household, do chores, go grocery shopping for their parents etc while saving money. On top of helping out the parents, they can also save money because they aren't paying the full rent, or at least paying partially. This is huge especially when people start working and saving money for an apartment and for when they move out permanently. In my view staying home shouldn't be looked down upon in society because, in America where I live at least, it's seen as a failure of some kind if a person did not leave home at 18. That isn't a good mindset and I feel that it's a financially savvy and wise plan to stay with your parents as long as possible until you find good-paying jobs and can live independently.

I have always firmly believed that if you do what you love, security and money will follow. Hi Ashley, I am a new subscriber and I am now just watcing this video, but I just want to say your story about your career hit so close to home. Long story short, I am working in a field that I thought I wanted, but people I was working under left and I was left to pick up the pieces and fill in that hole without getting a pay raise, I just ended up getting overworked working under Salary so I COMPLETELY understand. I too have the option to move up, but I will just get EVEN MORE overworked. What changed my mindset was recently I've accumulated over 100 hrs of "overtime" as in PTO and not $$ so during that time I was able to dedicate my time solely to the sims and tell me why I fell in love all over again. I used to spend hours just building homes like that was my passion and I just reignited it. Anyways, I am so happy to find someone with a similar journey to mine and I can't wait to see what you do next, cheers to the future!

Congratulations Ashley! May your success be fruitful for years to come. Personally, in my country, and in some Southeast Asian households we don't move out until you get married. But once you do, you get to choose from three options : to live in your own family's house, at your in law's house or your own home when you think it's appropriate. This may be from the fact that our culture is embedded in the idea of taking care of our elderly. 😂 So yes, as a 25 year old woman, I am still living in my parents house and I love it, because what is rent 🤣.

I think it’s so funny that you call this a long video meanwhile I watch 1-2 hour stream vods back to back 💀 Also yes, I reached the end of the video. I think I would describe the flavour of this build to be…chai laté. A really nice one, a little bit spicy but also creamy foam with minimalist laté art in a warm mug.

I’ve been struggling with the same choice. I currently work in health care, very much underpaid already, and they cannot find anyone to work. Probably because of pay. It seems like every day I get more and more responsibilities with no additional compensation. It’s beyond frustrating. It’s incredibly brave to choose yourself and your happiness above a secure livelihood and I’m hoping I can make that leap soon.

It's the same in my town. It's not terribly expensive to live on your own, but there aren't many apartment complexes, duplexes, or townhouses, so most young adults, fresh out of high school and college both, usually live with their parents for a few years

I didn't move out till I was like 22 coz it was so expensive and for not that much advantage, since I had a good relationship with my mum who was alone in a 4 bedroom house if I didn't live with her ahhaah I live with my partner and best friend now 🥰

So happy you were able to take that leap to do your own thing. Corporate world has been rough the last 5 or so years (even before covid) but once you find the career path that no longer feels like a job and you naturally put in more effort into it, it's all worth it! Love this build too and I am also obsessed with concrete lately!

we need a nursery pack for the Sims 4 idc if the babies have to be involve it will be so cool & awesome to make or decorate a nursery room. i want more bassinets, baby wallpapers, chairs were the female sims can sit at & breast feed their babies, more decorations as well.

Your corporate journey mirrors mine. I was laid off during the start of the pandemic, and moved across the country to take a new job. Since then, many of my team members have left every three months. Two weeks ago, the manager and another person exited. I didn't get promoted,but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another one that's available.

I work in finance too. We’ve been experiencing a lot of turnovers especially in management and I feel like it because not many of us are not as skilled in sales anymore. And honestly it’s been driving me crazy I’m ready to find something else and move on too

I'm on salary pay in London and we still get overtime pay I don't get how you don't get over time where ever you are?? No hate u do what's best for you I'm jus curious.

There was still overtime pay at my salaried job, however, it is normalized in the finance industry to stay late for free because it “showed commitment to the firm” and proved you weren’t “just there for the money” 😞 Basically they would pressure you to not ask for overtime and you probably won’t get a large year-end bonus or get promoted if you were always asking for overtime pay when other people weren’t ☹️ Very toxic!

I heard a term recently on tiktok, "act your wage" and I love that. Don't over work yourself for no pay rise, labor shortage is because nothing pays a living wage anymore and we've had enough. So good on you for pursuing what makes you happy regardless.

Did they remove the ability to resize counters? It looked like she put the microwave on a shrunken counter to place it in pantry, but even tho I seem to be able to resize most things it won’t resize - anyone else?

You're able to resize island counters! You cannot resize regular counters :)

I’m so happy to took the leap! I’ve been in such conflict about leaving my position. I’m currently a HR Office and training to be a HR Director and I’m not sure if it’s something I want to do. I feel like I’m doing this for the greater of others but I still haven’t found exactly I want to do.

I just resigned from my job after a year of complete burnout as well. It’s hard to leave something you love, but sometimes we have to prioritize our health and well-being. If pursuing your creative passion doesn’t work out the way you want it to, the finance field will always be there waiting for you. But I have faith that it WILL work out for you. You’re hardworking, talented, and very funny and entertaining. I pray it will all go well for you. And congratulations on prioritizing yourself and your growth over a dead-end high stress job. You got this!
