We can't trust photographic evidence of ANYTHING anymore. These are so good! As a retired, old-school designer (who taught PS 3.0), you've blown my mind about what can be done now with a few loose strokes and a descriptive vocabulary. I love your teaching style -- clear, concise and quick.

Love how on instagram every "wannabe influencer" will be in Dubai and drive a Lamborghini soon etc... Instagrams resolution is so low, that you can easily fake a rich lifestyle. @@shredd5705 I'm more concerned with manipulating what we see on the news or rely on in court -- we're conditioned to believe a photo is the "real" truth. But yeah, people with less ambition and "influence" in things that truly matter will also use this manipulation for personal gains.

@@ZenMaisy That had been a known issue for at least 20 years. The capture technology chain has to support nonrepudiation from the point of capture all the way to the rendering surface. Canon used to have SLRs to be used for court evidence creation. What we see in the news - that's a huge area for discussion, beyond the technology only.

Quick tip: You had trouble with the leather jacket mainly because your selection was too tight. If you expand the selection around the subject, you'll get better results for baggy, puffy, or other clothing that is not super tight or form-fitting.

Like so many people I'm amazed and slightly troubled by this phenomenal advance in Photoshop technology. As ever I'm so thankful to you for your excellent tutorial on this new feature. I've been using Photoshop (and Lightroom) for many years to "tidy up" my images and inevitably the degree by which "tidying up" is defined has grown with the advent of the new technology, especially the AI element . Entering contests and competitions with an image that has been "improved" by for example using Camera Raw filter sliders is one thing but are competitions going to start adding limits in the terms and conditions of entry to weed out entries that have elements of AI generated additions and composites ? I'm sure we've all carefully "cloned out" (or more recently used the remove tool) to lose the odd distracting item (like an overflowing ugly waste bin in a street scene ), but replacing the bin with an artificially created item (like a dog or a car) changes the meaning and feel of the image. Is it "intelligent" to be "artificial" ?

I think at some point it's going to become so saturated with fake images and things that are absolutely not realistic that people will eventually start coming back to things that are real and images that weren't completely faked. I think there will be value in people posting pictures online and specifically stating what has been edited with the photo. It takes no talent to have something artificially generated.

Even when they get caught occasionally when the background is bending too etc... but now they can create totally believable photos in some exotic countries, even if they took it on their lawn. The resoluion is so low in Instagram that it will be impossible to tell. Or, they can make their glutes bigger.... that alone gets you a huge following in Insta, with zero other talents

I tried this over the weekend and to be honest, you can be blown away with the immediate results, but if you look closer on larger files the difference in sharpness of the pixels between the original and the generative fill is vast. It looks blurry and not even part of the same image. If you pull back on these files you can also see this result on things like grass or anything with a broken texture effect. If you do in small areas on small res files it's great. Not sure if they will ramp up the quality in the release, but as far as I am concerned this is a big issue as a commercial tool. I didn't try the actually replacement tool aspects as there si much in teh way if IP issues in AI, so will see how this plays out.

What do you mean not so convincingly, talk for yourself. this to me will allow people who have concepts but can't bring them to life. People think you can go to a web design course and design a website. It is not about learning to use software. Design is a skill, and it is about ideas and concepts, now this makes designers who were once restricted becuase they do not have the creation skills. I have to understand everything so I spent alot of time understanding the base operating system software, luckily Mac os is alot more efficient than windows, but I remember people didn't bother and it ended up being them back as they had problems with design software as they didn't setup the is properly etc. But it will not be long before ai will be taking the whole design breif as a prompt and then designers are not needed. What is the plan for when we are not needed anymore. Surely we need to put restrictions in to make us relevant or do we each have a robot that works for us. It is inevitable that we destroy ourselves progress will not stop for man, so we either join it or die

Wow. Third video straight I've watched on this. Very well done and comprehensive on this very new tool. As to my reactions, I have two. First, could the noise reduction tool be used to improve the pixelated areas that are created when expanding the image? Second, as a voice artist, I see AI attempting to be creative in my field. You can't generate creativity artificially. This is very much reminiscent of the tale of John Henry. This will be interesting to follow as it develops - there is a sinister side to it, I believe. "Deep fake" is something that will affect so much of what we perceive.

WOW...Thank you for this video. Great job. Question, will this work for adding furniture in an image? Such as staging a home?

Wow I love this! Is there a way to synchronize the generated edited picture to use on other images to keep the same style?

Thanks for a great walk-through - love your videos. And I'm very jealous of the little Adobe hovering art director in the background 🙂

Is there a step missing between updating beta Photoshop and making a selection to make the prompt generation option come up? Because after installing on 2 different machines that feature is not in the contextual task bar at all.

Nice feature from adobe, I used to do these things on an Ai Canvas which took a bit of time. Now i think it will be cool using this feature from Adobe.

Wow! This is excellent! Thanks for the informative video. I do wonder about licensing considerations with the generative fill, especially in cases where it is generating significant portions of an overall image.

Thank you for the run down on this awesome new edition.. QUESTION What happened to the quick selection brush? Is this just a problem I'm having on my computer or is it not available in this Beta version???

I tried it to generate different backgrounds behind a portrait subject and found the results to look just as fake as if I did it myself. They didn’t blend in, it just looked like a person standing in front of a photograph of a beach/forest etc. I’m sure that will improve with updates though.

Just got it. Only needed to update de Beta version on Creative Cloud. Tried it... and got funnily amazed !!! This new feature opens a new world to creative photography. Hope it's soon added to the next regular version. Once again, Photoshop has surprised its users! Good job, Jesus... as always!! Thanks a lot once more... !!!
