This, I think, is saving my faith. As a former Jehovah’s witnesses elder, I finally rejected JW based on their theology. But it has pushed me to an agnostic position. But you really help to have an more intellectual and historic based understanding of this questions in my mind. Thanks man

Amen! I used to have a coworker who was JW and had many good apologetic conversations with him. Because of that, I've done a lot of research about the JW religion and I have empathy for them. I too used to be an agnostic until I discovered the more intellectual traditions of Christian Theology! May God continue to guide you and bless you, brother.

I’ll be saying a prayer that the Holy Spirit will teach you all things as we are told in the Word & that your faith is encouraged. I too was raised in a sect that was doctrinally challenged to put it kindly. Just like you I found myself falling away as I learned much of what I’d been taught was wrong or an outright lie. I fell away but always felt a sort of pull back to the Lord. I got deep into research & am eternally grateful to God that He lead me to truth, & blessed me with salvation & assurance of His love & grace! It is my sincere prayer that He do the same for you! My life has truly been a testament to the fact that we may give up on Him, but He does not give up on us! All we have to do is diligently seek Him, knock & He will answer!

Another act of mercy or blessing by God in this chapter is actually removing Adam and Eve from the garden. Because, in the garden they had access to the tree of life, which made them live forever. God did not want humans to live forever in a fallen state, as that would be terrible for the humans.
@Whisper-md9hs
@Whisper-md9hs 2 месяца назад
Also given how the series shows both the fall of Lucifer & Man occurred simultaneously, it’s possible that the war in Revelation 12 occurred immediately after Adam & Eve ate from the tree. God may have removed Adam & Eve from the Garden at that moment because He knew that war was about to break out among the angels and he wanted to get Adam & Eve to safety

His videos are very good!!! I have truly been blessed by them. However, no one is inerrant. With that being said, I want to offer a different perspective. He points out the difference between conception and birth, which is fine, but then gives commentary stating that the verse is referring to anxiety fueled by uncertainty in the *Future* conditions and needs of her children. I just don't see this being reality. Normally the only time someone has anxiety at conception, is if they didn't want to get pregnant. But that is certainly not what the scriptures are talkin about. Furthermore, grief or *anxiety in conception* is not the same as *anxiety about your child's future.* The argument could then be made that if that is the band-width of conception anxiety, then that would also include the pains of childbirth. This is why I believe the traditional translation of this passage is more accurate. Pain, sickness, anxiety, grief, and death were not God's original plan. But we know that childbirth brings with it extreme grief in the form of pain and anxiety. When it comes to a woman's desire being for a husband, and him ruling over her, I think this is pointing to a physical out working of a spiritual truth, sort of like homosexuality in Romans 1 is a physical out working of a spiritual truth... Namely, that the parable of man's rebellion towards God's headship and authority will be lived out through the marriage covenant in the form of the woman resenting his authority, and wanting to take the lead or be him altogether... today's popular culture is a perfect example of this. This will cause tension that will result in the man asserting and subsequently abusing his authority over her. Thus, the marriage covenant, along with every other aspect of creation, has been cursed by the Fall. Just another perspective to consider. Be blessed!!!

This whole Genesis series is awesome, well researched and presented. I just saw a preview for The Nephilim, whoa! I will look at many of your videos in depth. On Job right now as well. I was floundering in life, being hyper critical and over scientific and struggling to balance deaths and visions of close family members on their deathbeds with a few instances I have of people in cath labs who say they were sent back and spoke to God. I have been coming back to thinking that maybe earth isn't a prison planet. (My mom died of breast cancer after a long life of suffering and of being practically a saint and a spark of light in the world, she didn't have a good view of God in the end, she earned that way of thinking personally, through pain and suffering) and Lets just say your research is a bright light when I have needed it most.

The problem is with second guessing antiquity is that you can never know.. only surmise. To then claim that as a fact... Is indeed folly.. Very interesting narrative none the less. Mans interpretation is always limited by their personal understanding. The more you know the less you know. The more you think you understand, the less you actually understand. The more granular you get.. the more gets revealed.. It is a never ending seeking for some. Just when you think you got it sussed.. It all falls apart.. Such is life.

My view has always been that God saying not to eat of the tree was not prohibition, but rather a warning. He was saying that knowledge of good and evil makes you responsible for your own actions in a way that animals are not, and that the punishment for doing evil is death. He knew that we are fickle beings unable to be unblemished by evil, and so in the eating of the fruit we "would surely die". The irony is that as soon as Eve ate of the fruit she sins; not because of the bite that she took, but becauss she did so in order to "become like God". The original sin wasnt eating the fruit, it was pride.

This spiritual connection with God is something that is eternal and cannot be lost in this age by the Christian. He's eternally with God.. when he thinks God thinks ..he hears God in the spirit and responds to God in the spirit by his thoughts. This is in Union with God which is what the in God means. It is in Union with God. The most profound thing that can happen to an individual in this world. It is the guarantee in the substance of eternal life for the one who is born again WHO only desires to do God's will he only desires to hear God's thought. The lessons of Genesis are many and profound.The serpent didn’t lie to Eve, but by withholding the full consequence of their actions he took advantage of their ignorance, pride, and innocence.I think we see that Eve had a childlike understanding of morality by her immediate resistance to take the fruit. I think the “Knowledge” they obtained was by their disobedience they began to understand the consequences of evil immediately resulting in their shame and loss of innocence. Where I think I differ from your interpretation is that I think that they should have died the day they ate from the tree.I think we see a foreshadowing of the Gospel when God sacrifices the innocent animal in the garden, which not only provided coverings for them, but for their sin and allowed for them to escape death that day.To be fair, you haven’t got to that verse yet.I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks and God bless you.

If the arrow runs true it runs perfectly straight and hits the target. Sin is when it misses and therefore runs bent or off-target. I think that bending the truth is not possible. There is only truth or sin. I also think there is ample evidence that this is the worldview employed in biblical times. Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm enjoying ur new perspective on fundamental truths we have always believed, but the way you talk in this video is as if there was an alternative to God's redemptive plan in christ. After all, he was "slain before the foundations of the world" because God intended for this to be so to bring us into perfect communion with himself. By trying to naturally explain away why temptation existed in the garden is to not highlight the greatest act of love we have ever seen, the decision that christ would die for us ever before we were even created, thus bringing in God's ultimate desire, the New Heaven and New Earth. Just curious your thoughts on Jesus being predestined to die for us, and us needing to fall into Adam's sin so we all need a savior, to usher in the 2nd coming of christ and God's plan from the start for the ultimate future of humanity. Thanks 😊

Here's another way to view it. Satan said, "If you eat, you're eyes will be opened". Suggesting that Eve was blind. Satan said "if you eat, you will be like God." But She was already like God because she was created in God's image. Satan said, "If you eat you will be wise", Eve was following the LAW OF GOD which brings wisdom (PS 19:7-8) Satan was able to convinced Eve that she didn't have what she ALREADY was.

I wanted to make a correction to a verse you were explaining in the video: The woman's will is not towards the husband, but rather CONTRARY towards the husband. The husband shall rule over her because she is the weaker vessel, and if her will is contrary to his, he would be forced to place rules upon her since he is the stronger vessel, the provider, the protector, the ultimate decider (especially in ancient times when technological infrastructure has not yet liberated both halves of humanity from more barbaric forms of social control. Now fully domesticated by technology, we more or less govern ourselves collectively by our dependence on technology for everything.). Let's face it... women had it pretty hard in pre-industrial times, and since the wish of the women was pretty much completely silenced by the relentlessness of masculine ambition and the harsh necessary steps husbands often had to take to make sure their wives and children were protected from that. Wife and children are to do exactly as the father says or else they would be dead. Some women were surely more able than others, but not against an ancient patriarchal warlord society. Anyone who has been married will tell you that it's a lot of work. That's because male and female are always angling for different things, even on similar interests, and the only real way to be together is through either compromise, mental manipulation, or at worst... coercion. A good marriage is one composed of a stable record of consistent personal compromise, with the male making most of the crucial household decisions that the female generally isn't as confident in. It's the whole thesis, antithesis, synthesis, dialectic. It is what creates the marriage dynamic which generally is successful even today. Conflict, followed by compromise, with the result that it is often skewed more in the direction of male authority because that's just the general dynamic of human romantic relationships. Woman can, however, have a subtler passive yet significant effect which would be more difficult to chart. What I'm saying is that, because they had forsaken God, what normally was a perfect complimentary unity in the presence of God became instead a irreconcilable contradiction of two equally opposed yet chained-together selves. It didn't cause the woman to desire the husband. The woman was already a complimentary state to the man. Instead, it caused that complimentary state to become a contradictory state.

@Joannasavedby Christ I'm pretty sure every single relationship every single day multiple times a day proves my point. No to be too full of myself... It was the *discernment* , or judgement, of good and evil. It represents the divine prerogative of the right to decide *what IS good and evil* . Not merely "knowing right from wrong". When this was usurped, the concern was "Yikes, they had the balls to usurp one divine prerogative, what if they usurp the other one too, and gain immortality?!" At the other end of it in Revelation, God ultimately gives the "tree of life" or immortal existence to those who let HIM decide what's right and wrong. Seems pretty generous to me.

I've always wondered why the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was created in the first place. Seems odd for something to be created but not be used. Still, though, I wonder why God created the tree, made it available prematurely, if He's omniscient and would see Adam and Eve eating from the tree, prematurely. I'll keep praying about it, though.

The fruit is traditionally depicted as an apple even though the text only says "fruit". So it could be any fruit, maybe even a type of fruit we have never seen. Maybe there were apple trees in the garden elsewhere? This is of course not of any theological interest, but still a curious detail. :)

How the creation of god could fall in error with no previous traumas, from no idea of what is deception or jealousy or even envy? This is how I understand the Adam and Eve story. I heard a pastor say, " The book we call the Bible is a history book about Adam, Genesis 5:1. IF you do not know who is who in this book you will not understand the narrative. " It is kind of like, watching a movie, you really do not know what is going on IF you miss the first 30 minutes. Hebrew is a descriptive language. And many times words often have other meaning than we are accustom to. This is why the word studies are critical to understanding. Some words are mistranslated. For example the word, man. Man only applied to Adam man. Adam means to show blood in the face. To blush, or turn red, ruddy, transparent. Only Adam and his descendants could do this. In Hebrew the word Ish it means male. It could mean a bull or billy goat or any creation that has it's junk, lol. As you can see the meaning is not quite the same. But the translators used the word, man to mean both. Consider the praise, Beast of the field. Some have suggested it to mean a demon or a serpent. But as you read through the Bible you will find that the Beast of the field has the ability to speak. It sings praises to the Lord. It covers itself in sack cloth. it has a hand and a foot. Why would a serpent or demon sing praises to the lord or cover itself in sack cloth. If you look the word, Beast, in these passages, in the Hebrew it means a large black living creature. It does not have the bad connotation it has in English. In Genesis it is repeated what God created he created good. Kind after its own kind who's seed was with in itself. Many times we are told Not to mix the seed. Noah was perfect in his generations. In other words his blood line, seed line was pure. You can follow it all the back to Seth and to Adam. Eve was beguiled , to be tricked or deceived or seduced. Remember the Nephilim ? Fallen angles that took, "Women of men for there wives." Basically same thing happened to Eve. Only this time it was with, Nacash , some kind of fallen angle demon. And Eve became knocked up, she was with child, Cain. Cain being a " Out of Kind being. A bastard, Hebrew word mamzer. Is an out of kind being. A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. " Eve may have been partly right when she said, If I eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge I will surely die. In Hebrew, eat has more than one meaning one of them is, to lay with. Once you contaminate your blood line, seed line, those children / beings, and there children, and so forth are lost for ever. Perhaps Eve knew this and this is why she said, If I eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge I will surely die. How does one become pregnant from eating an apple ? Eve said to Adam, I have gotten "man" child from the lord. Man is mistranslated should be an, ish " male " child. Lord meaning here, A title. Most likely in today's times this couple would be headed for Divorce court. If eating an apple was a sin why did they cover there private parts ? One would think that God would have made the punishment fit the crime. And have there teeth to fall out. Why would God tell Eve that he would greatly multiply her pain and sorrow in child bearing. And God did tell Eve that her desire should be to Adam, her husband.

The second is studying commentaries and such and not from Jewish "scholars". Why anyone today puts stock in Jewish anything I don't know as they don't even believe in Jesus, but this channel loves doing that. The choice is always been to serve life or death as it says in Deuteronomy 30:19 I think. So God told us to choose life and he told Adam and Eve to do the same thing but he gave them the option of not choosing right Lee because they had to have free will. The same is true of us today until we have Revelation knowledge which comes by the Holy Spirit guiding us we cannot choose rightly but once we do have Holy Spirit we are responsible to follow the leadings of the spirit it says that the things of the Flesh are not real is that the things of the spirit are real in 2nd Corinthians 4. This Revelation knowledge comes from listening to God and obeying his voice.

I've watched a few of your videos to include Genesis 3a, which were truly insightful. However, I believe you are way off as it pertains to Genesis 3:16. You point out the difference between conception and birth, which is fine, but then, you give commentary stating that the verse is referring to anxiety fueled by uncertainty in the *Future* conditions and needs of her children. I just don't see this being reality. Normally the only time someone has anxiety at conception, is if they didn't want to get pregnant. But that is certainly not what the scriptures are talkin about. Furthermore, grief or *anxiety in conception* is not the same as *anxiety about your child's future.* The argument could then be made that if that is the band width of conception anxiety, then that would include the pains of childbirth as well. This is why I believe the traditional translation of this passage is more accurate. Pain, sickness, anxiety, grief, and death were not God's original plan. But we know that child birth brings with it extreme grief in the form of pain and anxiety. When it comes to a woman's desire being for a husband, and him ruling over her, I think this is pointing to a physical out working of a spiritual truth, sort of like homosexuality in Romans 1... Namely, that the parable of man's rebellion towards God's headship and authority will be lived out through the marriage covenant. This will cause tension that will result in the man asserting and subsequently abusing his authority over her.

"I just don't see this being reality. " Why not? Exiled from the garden, with food and livelihood being uncertain, why would she not have anxiety for her children and grandchildren? To say otherwise makes no sense whatsoever. "Normally the only time someone has anxiety at conception, is if they didn't want to get pregnant." In the ancient world, the opposite was feared, that a wife would NOT get pregnant. You can't compare today's casual sex environment with the ancient world. "This will cause tension that will result in the man asserting and subsequently abusing his authority over her." This sounds like a feminist reading of the text, rather than a scholarly reading of it.

Pretty good, and mostly agree with this. Though, I think you may have been ragging on Adam and Eve too hard, as if they had malicious intent. The Serpent made them question the integrity of God (which produces doubt) and made them feel like they lacked something needed for Life (to which you can argue, they did), but the Serpent made them eat from the Tree of Knowledge and do it from a point of self-effort (thinking they have to save themselves) to attain life and satisfy the lack that the Serpent made them feel they had. Concupiscence manifested in them (We all want to live, of course) and they ate. Unfortunately, they gained the wisdom, but now they interpret that wisdom as them needing to clothe themselves by their own effort. A never ending cycle of trying to satisfy your own lack when only God can do that. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was intended to show them to the Tree of Life so that they may live forever. Satan deceived them, and caused all of this.

They were never going to be allowed to eat from the tree after a period of time, the wording is “knowledge of good and evil,” it’s an intimacy statement, not a statement of intellectual expansion, though that would be a kind of byproduct. If that was the case, the wording would have been “good [from] evil,” which would indicate a mere intellectual development. This is where many go wrong when they claim that God was withholding “knowledge” from Adam and Eve, so as to keep them in a childish state, which is obviously false. Additionally the verses you quoted from Isaiah, 2 Samuel, and 1 Kings speak of “discerning right from wrong,” which is not the same as having “knowledge of good and evil.” Right back to the difference between the words “and” or “from. One speaks of seeing the difference and the other experiencing. Adam and Eve had two options before them, either 1) know only good, or 2) defy God and know evil also, obviously bringing about the need for a saviour, which was always part of God’s plan to express the fullness of character and Glory, hence why he immediately clothed them. All a foreshadowing of things to come in Christ. But you’re absolutely right, the tree was not evil, God said everything he created was good, and that included the tree in question. It’s like you said, many things/actions are good and not sinful, but they can be done in a sinful way. Appreciate your videos, don’t agree with everything, but definitely respect your efforts. The rest of the video is great. Something that does stand out that I forgot to add is that the tree was literally a stumbling block, which is exactly why the new heaven and new earth are said to have every stumbling block removed. There will be no cause for stumbling.

I don't follow your train of thought in your first paragraph so I am not grasping what you're trying to say. This is not a criticism for the sake of it, but I don't think they way you've written it is as clear as it could be. You seem to think your conclusion is justified by your reasoning, so am very interested to try and understand: would you care to try restating it again for me? Assigning intimacy for one and intellectual ascension to the other is not clear to me, similarly for 'seeing' for one and 'experiencing' for the other. Both involve some form of 'knowing,' but just different ways. Separately (although kind of related), re: second para and options 1 and 2, would I be correct in assuming that in both these two options you'd agree that A&E would 'know' evil in both, but in different ways? i.e. in 1) they would have to 'know' good at the very least of being able to conceive in their minds (imagine) transgressing God's commandment without actually doing it (i.e. knowing evil in the sense of 'seeing' (imagining) evil) while in 2) it would be 'knowing' in the sense of not only directly engaging in evil themselves but also directly experiencing the consequences of that evil? I ask because to my mind I think surely in order for 1) to work, A&E must have at least been able to conceptually mentally and intellectual ascend (think of and imagine) the _idea_ of evil (transgressing God's commandment)? I say this because without the ability to do this, the charge that always comes in free will discussion would hold re: just being puppets/robots without moral autonomy and not actually having any freedom to choose anything other than good, which would make life effectively meaningless/pointless. In fact, by virtue of having the option to engage in sin, I think it would be sound to conclude that it is definitely the case that in both 1) and 2) there remains the necessary freedom to 'know' evil by being able to mentally conceptualise it (imagine it, think about the consequences of choosing to do a particular thing). So when you give option 1) as 'only know good,' I want to understand what you mean by this. Apologies if this doesn't make sense and is rambling, I am very tired.

The "ACKNOWLEDGMENT" about the evil seems to be the SAME "ACKNOWLEDGMENT" between Adam and Eve (Gn 4:1) - a spiritual relationship, not only a physical one. And that's WHY we are called ADULTERS if we put our hopes and faith on others that is NOT The Creator ALONE. We "TOUCH" with eye-sight, by hearing, by seeking, by wanting. The sense of "touch" only by hands is really poor...

"You would be eternal if you eat from the tree of life.." That's funny seeing as how Christ says he is the tree of life and that all who partake of him are in him and he is within them. There isn't some magical pomegranate sitting in heaven, it's obviously allegorical in it's description. The father is life and the son is in the father so he has life. If you are in the son then you have life also. To eat the true food you must be like Christ with the holy spirit dwelling in you so that he may grow spiritual fruits in your life and heart. All those who lack fruit will be removed from the vine and cast into the fire. By their fruits you will know them to be my followers and those who call themselves Christ are deceivers if they have not love and compassion. For the Lord showed compassion to son of man and raised him from the dead to lead humanity to himself and by so doing save the world from our self destructive ways.

So... Are you just going to ignore Revelations Chapter 22 verse 2?

@Daulton Horton I agree it applies to that as well but sheep in wolves clothing is not a reference for pastors or leaders. It's a direct reference to those who claim to follow Christ "my sheep know my voice and follow me. Those who are not my sheep do not hear my voice." The neat thing about the Bible is that it likes to allude to various issues with one simple command or rebuttal. There's no shame for any Christian not associating with those who do not have the fruits of the spirit. If we cast pearls before swine they will crush us underfoot without hesitation or mercy.

Nexion Nekros St. Ignatius of Antioch "I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life. I desire the bread of God, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ, who was of the seed of David; and for drink I desire his blood, which is love incorruptible" (Letter to the Romans 7:3 [A.D. 110]). "Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God…They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes" (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2-7:1 [A.D. 110]). St. Justin Martyr "We call this food Eucharist, and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [i.e., has received baptism] and is thereby living as Christ enjoined. For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nurtured, is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus" (First Apology 66 [A.D. 151]). St. Irenaeus of Lyon "If the Lord were from other than the Father, how could he rightly take bread, which is of the same creation as our own, and confess it to be his body and affirm that the mixture in the cup is his blood?" (Against Heresies 4:33-32 [A.D. 189]). "He has declared the cup, a part of creation, to be his own blood, from which he causes our blood to flow; and the bread, a part of creation, he has established as his own body, from which he gives increase unto our bodies. When, therefore, the mixed cup [wine and water] and the baked bread receives the Word of God and becomes the Eucharist, the body of Christ, and from these the substance of our flesh is increased and supported, how can they say that the flesh is not capable of receiving the gift of God, which is eternal life-flesh which is nourished by the body and blood of the Lord, and is in fact a member of him?" (ibid., 5:2). Clement of Alexandria "’Eat my flesh,’ [Jesus] says, ‘and drink my blood.’ The Lord supplies us with these intimate nutrients, he delivers over his flesh and pours out his blood, and nothing is lacking for the growth of his children" (The Instructor of Children 1:6:43:3 [A.D. 191]). St. Cyprian of Carthage "He [Paul] threatens, moreover, the stubborn and forward, and denounces them, saying, ‘Whosoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, is guilty of the body and blood of the Lord’ [1 Cor. 11:27]. All these warnings being scorned and contemned-[lapsed Christians will often take Communion] before their sin is expiated, before confession has been made of their crime, before their conscience has been purged by sacrifice and by the hand of the priest, before the offense of an angry and threatening Lord has been appeased, [and so] violence is done to his body and blood; and they sin now against their Lord more with their hand and mouth than when they denied their Lord" (The Lapsed 15-16 [A.D. 251]). Aphraahat the Persian Sage "After having spoken thus [at the Last Supper], the Lord rose up from the place where he had made the Passover and had given his body as food and his blood as drink, and he went with his disciples to the place where he was to be arrested. But he ate of his own body and drank of his own blood, while he was pondering on the dead. With his own hands the Lord presented his own body to be eaten, and before he was crucified he gave his blood as drink" (Treatises 12:6 [A.D. 340]). St. Cyril of Jerusalem "The bread and the wine of the Eucharist before the holy invocation of the adorable Trinity were simple bread and wine, but the invocation having been made, the bread becomes the body of Christ and the wine the blood of Christ" (Catechetical Lectures 19:7 [A.D. 350]). "Do not, therefore, regard the bread and wine as simply that; for they are, according to the Master’s declaration, the body and blood of Christ. Even though the senses suggest to you the other, let faith make you firm. Do not judge in this matter by taste, but be fully assured by the faith, not doubting that you have been deemed worthy of the body and blood of Christ…[Since you are] fully convinced that the apparent bread is not bread, even though it is sensible to the taste, but the body of Christ, and that the apparent wine is not wine, even though the taste would have it so,…partake of that bread as something spiritual, and put a cheerful face on your soul" (ibid., 22:6, 9). St. Gregory of Nyssa: “Since it has been shown that in no other way was it possible for our body to become immortal, but by participating in incorruption through its fellowship with that immortal Body, it will be necessary to consider how it was possible that that one Body¸ being for ever portioned to so many myriads of the faithful throughout the whole world, enters, through that portion, whole into each individual, and yet remains whole in itself…, which Body also by the indwelling of God the Word was transmuted to the dignity of Godhead. Rightly, then, do we believe that now also the bread which is consecrated by the Word of God is changed into the Body of God the Word. For that Body was once, by implication, bread, but has been consecrated by the inhabitation of the Word that tabernacle in the flesh. Therefore, form the same cause as that by which the bread that was transformed in that Body was changed to a Divine potency, a similar result takes place now. For as in that case, too, the grace of the Word used to make holy the Body, the substance of which came of the bread, and in a manner was itself bread, so also in this case the bread, as says the Apostle, ‘is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer’; not that it advances by the process of eating to the stage of passing into the body of the Word, but it is at once changed into the body by means of the Word, as the Word itself said, ‘This is my Body.’ …By dispensation of His grace, He disseminates Himself in every believer through that flesh¸ whose substance comes from bread and wine, blending Himself with the bodies of believers, to secure that, by this union with the immortal, man, too, may be a sharer in incorruption. He gives these gifts by virtue of the benediction through which He trans-elements the natural quality of these visible things to that immortal thing.” (The Great Catechism, Ch. 17 [A.D. 385]). St. Ambrose of Milan "Perhaps you may be saying, ‘I see something else; how can you assure me that I am receiving the body of Christ?’ It but remains for us to prove it. And how many are the examples we might use!…Christ is in that sacrament, because it is the body of Christ" (The Mysteries 9:50, 58 [A.D. 390]). St. Augustine of Hippo "I promised you [new Christians], who have now been baptized, a sermon in which I would explain the sacrament of the Lord’s Table….That bread which you see on the altar, having been sanctified by the word of God, is the body of Christ. That chalice, or rather, what is in that chalice, having been sanctified by the word of God, is the blood of Christ" (Sermons 227 [A.D. 411]). "What you see is the bread and the chalice; that is what your own eyes report to you. But what your faith obliges you to accept is that the bread is the body of Christ and the chalice is the blood of Christ. This has been said very briefly, which may perhaps be sufficient for faith; yet faith does not desire instruction" (ibid., 272). Council of Ephesus "We will necessarily add this also. Proclaiming the death, according to the flesh, of the only-begotten Son of God, that is Jesus Christ, confessing his resurrection from the dead, and his ascension into heaven, we offer the unbloody sacrifice in the churches, and so go on to the mystical thanksgivings, and are sanctified, having received his holy flesh and the precious blood of Christ the Savior of us all. And not as common flesh do we receive it; God forbid: nor as of a man sanctified and associated with the Word according to the unity of worth, or as having a divine indwelling, but as truly the life-giving and very flesh of the Word himself. For he is the life according to his nature as God, and when he became united to his flesh, he made it also to be life-giving" (Session 1, Letter of Cyril to Nestorius [A.D. 431]).

The tree of knowledge was not allegorical. God made a literal garden, he placed literal grass and trees and fruit in this garden, and specifically said let the fruit be ur meat. Whats not to understand. Jesus being the tree was allegorical. U have it backwards.

Although this may be an unorthodox and strange idea for most traditionally Christian folks to consider, the ideas discussed in this video have some interesting parallels with the Entheogen Theory of human development, an idea that I spent some time steeped in before coming back to follow Christ in a more traditional way. For those unfamiliar, an 'entheogen' is another term for what we now call 'psychedelic substances'. Both terms are rooted in Greek (entheogen = generating the divine within; psychedelic = manifesting the psyche/spirit). One interpretation I heard a while back in regards to Genesis story is that the "fruit" described in Genesis 2 was actually Amanita muscaria, which is the famous red and white spotted mushroom that serves as the 'type species' in most peoples' minds for this group of organisms. The mushroom itself is mycorrhizal (i.e. growing in association with plant roots - for this species in particular tree roots) and certain populations of it are known for inducing mind expansive visions due to the presence of the compound muscimol. Their use in religious rituals are well documented, and it's even featured in some old Christian artwork. Given it's bright color and the fact that it almost appears to 'fruit' from the tree (albeit around the base of the trunk) it could be theorized that this was what the authors of Genesis may have meant. Now, it should come as no surprise that use of substances like magic mushrooms, LSD, and others are commonly used nowadays for various purposes (spiritual, recreational, therapeutic). However, if we are to consider them in light of the Biblical Genesis story, this would be like YHWH warning early man that they should not partake, that they were not/are not ready for that level of knowledge or type of experience. Thus, the way people of today are experimenting with them more or less haphazardly may be against the wishes of the Divine. Even shamanic traditions well separated by time and geography from the Abrahamic faiths (e.g. Ayahuasca use in the Amazon Rainforest) is heavily safe guarded and only done under the guidance of an elder who knows how to navigate people safely through the 'realms' that they enter under the effects of the drug. It would explain why there are so many people led into various strange beliefs and allegiances after experimenting with them on their own. Simply put, they are not prepared for what they find. So IP's analysis in the beginning of this video fits well. In my own prior experience of using them (LSD in particular) the experience can be either one of extreme happiness and elation, or one of the most severe horror you could imagine (bad trips). For me, my final LSD trip was the former and lead me into a couple years of constant existential anxiety and bipolar depression. Interestingly though, that experience in many ways put me on the path to finding God again, as before doing so I was more or less an agnostic materialist - but we all knows He works in mysterious ways. Now I understand it this way: such compounds are indeed found in nature, they are a part of God's creation and should be respected. They are not inherently evil. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea for us to partake in their use, at least not at this current point of humanity's relationship to God. In the words of Jung, "Beware of unearned wisdom."
