Excellent channel. I've emailed this fellow on several occasions with questions and he's always responded quickly and with great information. Much appreciated sir!
at 7.10 no gasket .... you are right. the sensor did not come with it. you have to buy the gasket ... was surprised to see the original sensor also did not have one.... weird. but i am glad you helped your customer. excellent tutorial..
Have you seen injectors fixing these cold start misfires on other cylinders? We have several that other techs have done and techline keeps saying replace the GDI injectors first. If comes back replace the multiport injector. Yet I’ve had instances when done both and same cylinder comes back with cold misfire. Cylinder 4. Can’t see a crank sensor fixing a misfire for cylinder 4. Cylinder 1 I can understand for TDC. Any info I would appreciate it. Even my school instructor Jason says he doesn’t know what is fixing them if any. Since they run smooth. Thanks for any info. Keep up the great work and channel. I appreciate it.
1st start up misfire cold i didnt see that yet. During those misfire event, can you really feel the car misifiring and counting in misfire counter? If its repeatable missfire and the same cylinder, maybe my next testing will be before i start it again i will remove that spark plug number 4 and see inside whats going i there. Hows the coolant level? Both watercooled intercooler resevoir and engine coola t resevoir? And if i dont see anything out of ordinary , i would use my scope compare 3 and 4 secondary ignition waveform, then maybe injector voltage. Since this vehicles equipped with mpi and gdi and what i know first start up its the gdi is firing. Let me know
Here is one had my dealer stumped. 2017 Sonata 2.0 Hybrid. Had a misfire cyl 2, slight, not enough to trip check engine or code, but you could feel it. MAF did not cure it, they could find no explanation. I got the car back, unplugged both o2 and no misfire, but check engine light on. Narrowed it down to o2 #2 plugged in, o2 #1 unplugged, no misfire. Installed new OEM hyundai o2 #1 and still same problem. Have you seen this problem before? Misfire goes away when leaving an o2 unplugged?
If O2 sensor unplug and no misifre, in my opinion the ecu is defaulting and not using the oxygen sensor for the feedback on whats going on of the combustion mixture. When you plug in the connector for the oxygen sensor now it has that feeback data and the computer is adjusting whats going on on the combistion mixture. Is there a oxygen trouble code when everything is plug in? When the trouble code is present whats the freeze frame data(maybe theres some clue in there) and lastly when test driving or just testing, hows the oxygen sensor reads? Fuel trims? I would suggest to start from there and maybe you will get some clues. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the video! I am facing the same issue. Can you let us know if for that car replacing the crank sensor was the definitive solution? I just got the injectors replaced but the fail engine light came on again.
Hahaha. I dont look warranty anymore coz it will just pissed me off.hahha its either pay less or no pay what my aim is just to fix the car and dont see it anymore hahaha
When the misfire happen can you see in the misifre data that its consistent? When does the misfire happen idle or high rpm? Theres 2 injectors, gdi and mpi. When the misfire happens hows the fuel trim?
If you can message me on my email, your vin im gonna try on monday to see if its available, but im already doubting that its gonna be back order especially the car is new and its electronic component.
