I've been trying to keep up with this and, honestly, never heard that Space Harrier was going to be an option as well, only Space Harrier 2. If it was announced could someone link me to an article before this launch? That way I can correct the headline and thumbnail.
On the news websites that covered the games revealed they list it as: "Space Harrier II (+Space Harrier) (Genesis) - New ports using the sprite zoom function!"
It’s my understanding that the sound card or chip on the genesis model 1 (specifically the one with “high definition graphics” printed on the console) is better then the one found in the model 2.
I am still waiting to add more games 4 months later. I am surprised it still hasn’t been hacked yet to add anything, but I can’t find any details on it.
Yes the music and sound from choosing model 1 is pretty close to the real model 1 genesis on ssf2 character select screen. I do play a lot of ssf2 on the genesis so I would know.
I got the mini 2 about 4 months ago like everyone else, seems they still have stock on Amazon. I just wish it was hackable to add more Genesis games so I could take advantage of the sound chip changer for more than just the default games it comes with.
Thanks for the SGM2 video this really looks like a nice mini system with a great selection of games. I have one ordered it's a shame the only way to get it is through Amazon of Japan.
Got mine yesterday. I like it more than my mega drive mini 1. I think it's cause of the mega CD audio quality. Planning to beat a few of these games. I was enjoying Shining force CD and Ecco the dolphin. With the mega cd music Ecco is so much more imersive. Seems to look better than the original version too (i booted the mini1 to compare). I really hope this will be hacked. I would love to add more to the mega CD library. Would like sub-terrania there as well. I had that one as a kid and i loved how imersive it was too.
Space harrier is not the regualr one. It'sa complete new version wiyh real time scalling/zooms. It's a technical prowess and it runs at 60fps! That's why you cn see SEGA MArk V. SEGA Mark V console doesn't exist.. But you don't want to read descriptions , and all effort and love they put in this console 😭
Maan, Robo Aleste, Truxton, so many games I'd wanna play. I wish Sega made a console version of this game lineup for modern systems. I'd be all over it.
It is a great game and although the mini 2 looks fantastic, I recently reviewed 2 cheaper alternatives that have bonanza bros on them. For ps2 and psps check out the sega collections.
@@retrogaminghippie3720 that would be great and all if I owned modern consoles. I have nes and snes. I haven't played a console past ps2 Era, not that I don't want to I'm just more of a pc gamer these days.
@@PJ_Playz I am the same as you. Never really played much past ps2. This 2 games are only in the ps2 and psp. I have gotten more in to PC as well.. that is my C64
I personally don't see the point in buying a mini Genesis 2 because I have most of these games on Xbox through the Genesis collection and Sega collection and the fact that I can emulate Genesis games on my Xbox series X
Did any of you have the Sega Channel back in the 90's? A couple of my friends did and it was awesome. It was a game streaming service that ran through the cable company. It was way ahead of it's time.
To buy the American genesis mini 2 version of this do I still have to buy it from Amazon Japan and how much does it cost shipping included and how long does it take?? I'm from NYC!🗽
@@JohnRiggs no, that’s also been discussed online. If you mean the hack with making the game run smoother. Still cool non the less especially good info for those who haven’t heard yet.
I bought my mini moded already it worked fine but the last time I played it I was playing super famicom games and now evertime I try to play the sega mini it stays in that games list it won't let me go back the the other systems would you know why that would be?
"It has a lot of cool games." But it can it play the French localization of Phantasy Star 4 with the fancy old Piata professors who talk in passé simple?
The sega megadrive genesis mini 2 as game sack pointed out should of waited for the chip shorage to end b4 release m2 r great but in Australia to import from Amazon UK was my only option I can't buy from Amazon Japan and Amazon us only let u buy it if u live in the us but w the low Australian $ it's costing me $200.00 wow if sega keep doing this lockout I will give up and honestly the only way we will get saturn and Dreamcast games w probably ve on switches crappy expansion subscription method due to memory costs etc hope I'm wrong I miss the awesome but misguided sega in the 90s oh well I eat the cost this time but that's it I've seen mega final fight home-brew along with super streetfighter 2 which m2 should employ
If anyone is hoping the genesis megadrive mini 2 will be hacked anytime soon will probably be disappointed as far as I know uses a similar board to the turbo pc engine mini ans w the small stock allocation it probably won't happen hope I'm wrong but the good old days off hacking nes snes md genesis minis r gone only look at the astro city series and u will understand basically by it if u like the collection of games on the sega mini 2 but don't expect an instant way to play all sega mega games or cds God I h I personally I'm wrong m2 really needs to reconnect w sega bade of fans w really r not in Japan unless u include the sega saturn if m2 pulls that off I will be amazed I wish I'd keeped my Oz pal collection from here in Australia all sega fans hope u r enjoying the sega mini 2
My only complaints with this mini is that to play the Japanese version of games you have to actually change the language to Japanese in the settings. Then choose the game. Changing back to English is confusing since you have to memorize where to go to change the language. And also to access the mode options button from the controller you have to change in the settings and then hold start for 3 seconds and it takes another 5 seconds to exit out a game. Other than that I love the Genesis Mini 2
sorry, but this thing is not worth it... I hacked my original Genesis mini to have 300+ Genesis/32X games on it + can attach a USB stick with all the Sega CD games on it to play them.
I like this system but cannot help feeling that Sega charged way way too much. There is no instructions booklet, the packaging is not very good, no carton inside to keep things in tact. There was no plug but that can be expected these days if it wasn't for the very high price and only one controller, at the very least there could have been on screen instructions or a QR code for every game to get the instructions online, all in all to round it up Sega just pulled on people's heart strings they obviously knew that only the big Sega fanboys would buy it that's why it was made in much smaller amounts with a massive high price to make a lot of money for fewer systems. Sega hasn't really respected their fans with this one its like having a Xbox series x brand new handed to you in a paper bag and charging £800 for it. I can't help feeling ripped of cash. Its like that George Michael song, if your going to do it, do it right, next time they release a mini i will think it over for at least a month.
If you hold right while on the option selection and press start, it gives you the option to remove the flickering. I have no idea why it's a hidden option.
I didn't even bother editing this video so, yeah, I left it in. This time of year is terrible. If someone calls telling me to vote for them, I'll vote against them every time.
Both of those versions of Space Harrier look terrible. There's a ton of flicker that I know wasn't on the original Genesis or Arcade versions. I'd sacrifice the smooth scaling for a flicker-free game.
Sega including “bonus games” as opposed to actual hidden games reminds me of the AtGames Genesis Flashback consoles with their “bonus games”. Ok, Sega’s bonus games aren’t anywhere near as terrible, just saying
