After you bubble you jump on top and down air to do the stomp....you can do it three to 4 times and if you do enough damage you can foward or back air after the bubble pops.....best ranno combo
@@neutralflavors rivals of aether ends up being more balanced most of the time so the meta isnt heavily skewed towards a fraction of the cast, rivals of aether characters are better designed and actually have multiple layers of mechanics based on a central gimmick. Smash ult has awesome gameplay design but only for some of the characters (why is sonic still the same as his brawl variant?0. Rivals has much better controller settings, customizability, movement mechanics, and tutorials. Playing with friends online is clunky, and matchmaking is awful. Smash isnt WAY better, only exceeding rivals in size of content and iconography, but the devs of ROA dont have multiple millions of dollars...
Question! Is the design-wise direction for Rivals 2's cool with everyone who plays this? The moves (not ALL, of course) are just mash ups of smash characters (now). Ranno, for example - it's easy to say it's Greninja - charging water move, for example. But I see the exact look (like even the body shape in the air) of Shieks diagonal needle throw, her back air, and Terri's shoulder charge. Watching some other footage, like the bird dude, I see Wario's up smack (with the sound included). The arrow person is clearly Byleth moves mixed with Falco multi-hits (the neutral is a good example). I'm trying to get into playing Rivals, but the style from the first drew me in and I thought it was AWESOME. Now with this, style-wise with the shield now too, it feels too close to smash. What are other's thoughts? Are there crossplayers between smash and rivals, or is that not a typical thing? I'm trying to be both, and honestly not trying to crap on this. The moves just feel a little stolen. The distinguishing line between the two now with this sorta faded for me.
I picked it up a week ago because my friend plays. I’ve been a relatively serious melee player for a little over 7 years now. This being said I like the game and see the potential in it as a competitive player. I quickly learned the frog character that they’re playing in the video because of how close he is to sheik like you said, even beating my other friends who’ve played rivals since the beginning. I quickly realized how much it was “copied” from smash, and considering quitting because I just kept comparing it to melee. Initially I couldn’t get over how they changed some of the controls for seemingly no reason. For example zetterburn is nearly an exact copy of fox, even having a move that is similar to shine that you can wave shine out of. But instead of making it down b, they moved it to neutral b. It baffled my mind because they essentially copied everything else but maybe played it off like they didn’t because they changed the inputs of some of the moves? Long story short, I’ve learned to appreciate the game and I want to get good at it like I once did melee. It’s just a different game I have to keep telling myself, but I’m already better than most of my friends so that keeps me motivated.
To be fair, when a roster has like 90 characters, it's going to be difficult to come up with unique actions esp for normal moves. There's definitely inspiration from smash taken in a lot of aspects which the rivals devs have never denied, but fighting games in general do take a lot of moves from one another (dp, fireball are some that come to mind). What makes me personally a fan of rivals is the movement system intentionally made to be simple yet effective, and the hitfall mechanic unique to rivals. The specials of the characters see what gives them their identity, and are centered around a key element per character which I think is cool. The new special attacks like special pummel and getup attack are also great additions which separate rivals from smash a lot and make it it's own unique game, but a fimilar transition for smash players
The things you named are not really similar to the smash moves you named. Wario upair just doesn't really kill while Wrastor's certainly does. And Terry's dash attack is a committal kill move which hits outward where Ranno's is a combo move which sends up. They have a somewhat similar animation but it's a bash with the shoulder. How many fighters have shoulders? You really need to look at the complete picture of a character to determine if they are excessively referential.
No. I 'll have to play it to see if it is actually slower or just looks that way because of graphics, though. I feel like people haven't figured out the hitfalling and combo trees as well.
