This video really makes me want to try out X plane, and the Rollins CRJ 200. Fly for vUAL and it might be great for regional United Express flights!

Nicely done video, Only thing I would say is the aircraft's sound file needs to be adjusted as the ground rumble is far too loud. Look at your take off, the sound as soon as you left the ground dropped dramatically, either that or engine sound needs boosting, Enjoyed it

Thank you for another interesting video. Regarding the "floating aircraft", if you untick Runway Follows Contours, does that not fix the issue? Also, do Alaska Airline 737's fly from Geneva?

+David Herky Replying out-of-thread, because RU-vid comments are broken again. Glad you liked the video. I tried to turn sloped runways off, but they still floated. It seems there are some fundamental differences in the elevation data used by FSX and X-Plane here (mainly defined in X-Plane by the airport's surveyed elevation as defined in the custom scenery). TBH, I don't really care all that much anyway. As for Alaska Airlines, that's some XSquawkBox weirdness. Apparently, when it doesn't have an airline-specific livery, it just sticks in the alphabetically first one that it has available (which happens to be Alaska Airlines). I'd fix that if I could, but sadly, XSquawkBox is closed-source, which I find annoying to no end (I'd fix a lot more in it if I had the source).
@Flight231
@Flight231 8 лет назад
+totoritko Yes, your flights are as they should be, detailed and interesting! As for the Vatsim aircraft, could it be the difference between 64 bit (XP) and 32 bit (P3d and FSX)? Anyway, if your not bothered by it that's fine. Look forward to the next one. Perhaps on Pilot Edge with some US scenery? By the way, have you thought about Multi Crew Experience? There is a plug-in for X Plane. I am somewhat fond of this program. Allows you to fly with a first officer. He/She can run your flows and checklists. If a switch is incorrect you will be told and then you can correct it yourself or have the FO do it! I scripted some flows for MCE (FSX aircraft) and placed them in Avsim Libs. With correct flows from the FCOM its spookily realistic and its also great fun! Cheers.
@totoritko
@totoritko 8 лет назад
David Herky The difference isn't due to 32/64-bit'ness of the sims. It's simply because it's completely different software written by different people. Thanks for the flight suggestions. I am a PE customer and fly mostly on PE these days. It should get even more interesting once the PE expansion hits. As for MCE, I'm not prepared to spend quite as much money on something like that. I prefer flying with real people through smartcopilot (which I also own).

Good job, and nice graphic- no question and big like :-).Was there any video editing, cause the Frames are really excellent. What you think about the JRollon CRJ200 and the system depth??
@totoritko
@totoritko 9 лет назад
Altenholz Thanks. There was no editing. The way you saw the video is they way it looked on my screen. I don't do post commentary during flying, everything is recorded live. The only things I do in post-production is either pre-flight planning (which was not used in this video) or special effects, such as the fast-forward part near the end when taxiing at Frankfurt (which was taking forever and I didn't want to bore the audience too much). As for the CRJ-200, it's OK-ish. It's kind of in the mid-tier in terms of systems complexity. During regular operations, it's pretty good. However, many of the emergency systems are not simulated, so it's not good for learning those. Recently I've had dual-engine failure on a line flight for United Virtual and the ADG (air-driven generator) didn't deploy, so I had zero control of the airplane until the APU started up (which should have happened automatically, but didn't). If you're into real in-depth systems study, go for the FlightFactor 757.

@totoritko 9 лет назад
micagas Thanks. It's a GTX 970 and some plain old motherboard I can't remember, but it's got a Core i5 4460 in it. If I were to rebuild it, I'd go with a K-model processor to get the overclocking ability.

totoritko thanks for sharing, with my imac it get stucked a bit , so ill grab a new pc for this Btw, love the plane, wish it has a Tcas, and more working switches functions.. did you had any fire horn alarm ? i think theres a bug there, cause when i have fire on 1 engine, nothing happen when I press the ENG FIRE switch.. i mean.. it only switch off the SOV and shut the engine.. but the horn is still there thanks!
@totoritko
@totoritko 9 лет назад
micagas Yeah, unfortunately Apple has decided to not make any enthusiast-grade computers anymore, so really, Mac users are kinda stuck. I'm running a Macbook for my daily needs and use a dedicated Windows PC just to run XP. I've never had a fire in the CRJ. I have had other failures, but none that would have the engine fire alarm going. I agree with you in that I wish it were more complete, but alas, it's a rather low-fidelity model.

Hi There Totoritko. I'm having a small issue with the CRJ. Using simbrief i'm creating a flight plan, however i'm struggling to get to the right flight level according to simbrief. i've also noticed that trying to get that high really burns a lot of fuel, and i end up very short by the point of landing. Have you worked out a solution to these issues when using the CRJ? Great videos by the way :) really enjoying it.
@totoritko
@totoritko 8 лет назад
+LordDakson Glad you like the videos. I use a highly positive fuel factor to get the burn about right. In simbrief you can create custom air frames, so copy the default CRJ-200, go to edit it and select Fuel factor P25 (+25%). Then just select this air frame when creating a flight plan and you should be golden. It's still not *quite* right, because simbrief is too optimistic on the fuel burn in the climb and too pessimistic in the cruise, but I find a fuel factor of P25 mostly balances things out. As for the climb, simbrief suffers from statistical data from an overpowered CRJ-200 model. X-Plane matches reality much closer, because CRJ-200s are renowned among their pilots for being poor climbers. They are basically a lengthened Challenger 650 with the same wing and not enough extra thrust for their weight. This results in a typical operation being much closer to their MTOW and in addition to lacking leading edge slats, they tend to have very long takeoff runs. My recommendation for a short takeoff (less than 7000 ft runway) is engine bleeds off with the packs being fed by the APU (which you will keep running for takeoff and shutdown afterwards) and engine limiter set to 96% or any setting that keeps all engine parameters out of the red. After clearing 1000' agl, thrust to climb, engine bleeds on and APU off. For cruise level planning, my general rules of thumb are: 1) if you have

Hey m8! Nice Videos! Pretty interesting how you do that. My question ist: Can you make a tutorial, how to install VATSIM and how to fly online, and how to do the whole online flying? Are you german? You sound like that. I like the way how you make your videos. :) You are one of the best (in my opinion)
@totoritko
@totoritko 8 лет назад
+LSlolHD Thanks. "Can you make a tutorial" Sure, although there's a lot that applies to that that's not necessarily VATSIM-specific (e.g. how to conduct yourself in controlled airspace, how to plan a flight, etc.). "Are you german? You sound like that." Nope. Sometimes when I'm careless my mouth does funny things.

Is this crj FPS friendly in your opinion? Always great videos BTW!
@totoritko
@totoritko 7 лет назад
Thanks! Yeah, the CRJ is fairly lightweight, barely any slower than say the default Baron. If your rig can pull modern X-Plane 10.50, it shouldn't have any trouble with the CRJ.
@stefapara
@stefapara 7 лет назад
Thanks to you for the answer. I run x-plane on mid2010 iMac 16GB RAM but only 512 video card, with 10.50 i noticed a decrease in performance in particular with carenado aircraft but with the default C172 and medium high settings i still can get even 80FPS sometimes. I hope the crj will stay above 20.

@ChrisHargreaves2
@ChrisHargreaves2 8 лет назад
I started with the FF777 Worldliner and enjoy it quite a bit, but would have rather started with a 737NG aircraft, however I cannot find a decent one for X-Plane 10 (with 3D cockpit, FMC, etc.). I have considered the A320 but I am really more of a Boeing fan. At this point I was waiting on an aircraft like that to come, but wanted to shop for a regional jet for the time being. The FJS 732 looks nice, but I was really hoping for a more modern, glass cockpit style aircraft.
@totoritko
@totoritko 8 лет назад
Chris Hargreaves I see what you mean. In that case, you'll probably want to take a look at the FF757. It's usable for short-to-mid haul and has a full-featured glass cockpit.

In my opinion its pretty funny that the FSX airplanes are higher then they who use X-Plane xD Will be there a fix one time?
@totoritko
@totoritko 9 лет назад
+Ghost Well depends on what you consider a fix. I suppose XSquawkBox could implement some sort of heuristic to where it would understand that fixed-wing aircraft that are moving below a certain speed and are reasonably close to the ground should really be on the ground. But as far as X-Plane goes, there's nothing to fix. FSX simply has the incorrect elevation map, because FSX airports always have to be a flat plane (which is just not realistic at all).
