This is the best video for the Genie Universal Wireless Keypad. I have looked at several others, but none of them explained how to deal with toggle switches. All the others had learn buttons to work with but this one went the extra mile to explain how to work with a Genie overhead with NO LEARN button. Thank you for explaining it. I even called the Jenie information line and they said just return it. My Genie Keypad is now working and I could do it again, if I had too.
I followed the directions perfectly and it still does not work. I have a blue max 12 dip system from 1992, (thats ID# 21 according to Chart A) Every time I put in the converted code, the led blinks rapidly after I put in the 9th number. That makes me think it’s the wrong ID number as it should allow me to punch in the full 12 numbers. I don’t know where to go from here. Please help
I just purchased this one. I failed the programming the first time and lost track of where i'm at in the keypad step right now. I press and hold the Program and Up/Down button at the same time for 5 second or more, but nothing happend. It's seems like i can't reset it.
Hi Mark - If you still need assistance with this we would be happy to help. First, if you are trying to reset the keypad, make sure all the lights are out before you press the program/up down arrows to reset. If you have done this and still not able to reset, please contact Genie customer support at 1-800-354-3643 for assistance.
If you want to be pissed off. Step:1 Start drinking early. Step:2 follow instructions multiple times. Step:3 Drink more. Step:4 Try again tomorrow. Update...Step:5 Drink another beer and realize you didn't do a step Step:6 Crack another beer and enjoy the fruits of your labor and play with now working key pad
When I try to add a 3rd door, I press program 3 times and it starts flashing, I press 5 (it's still flashing), then I press the up/down button and it flashes red and stops the programming.
Do not mount on wall until programming is complete, because you need keypad with you when on ladder at Opener Motor Learn Button. Leave battery cover off of keypad, because you will want to remove a battery when you start over. You MUST wait for backlight to go dark BEFORE you "start over." I can't wait fifteen seconds for light to go out, so I yank a battery.
@@chetmyers7041 all that still doesn't work. going back. Click It like we had for 15 years with no issues sitting next to Genie on the shelf. I fell for the nice packaging,. Doh
Tried 2 keypads so far and no luck getting them to work. Genie garage door opener is from 1994. Keypad looks just like the one in video. How do I know if keypad will work with my genie garage door opener?
Instructions don't work with the chamberlain yellow learn button. I followed each step to the T. Specifically the step where you hold down the yellow learn button and then press the up/down. It says the opener is supposed to click but doesn't
I was able to program it and it was operational. But, my clicker stopped working. When I activated the clicker, this keypad opener stopped working. I have a 2002 Liftmaster with a red button. I am going to return it to HD.
True. This is my first genie garage door opener and all the other brand that i had before you just hit enter or the down button to close a garage door.
I have the ‘type 2’ learn code on the garage door opener and nothing happens when I hit “set”. It doesn’t light up. Garage is closed. I’ve held it down for several seconds and nothing happens to alert me it’s in programming mode.
How do you put a different pin number for door 2? For instance, I want 1234 for door 1 and 5678 for door 2. Directions make no sense for programming door 2. I have a Chamberlin purple button.
I had the same issue, then re-read the instructions. It is one pin for all three doors, but once you program more than 1 door you have to push 1, 2, or 3 after the pin + up/down to open that door. E.g., if my pin was 1234 and I wanted to open door 2, I would push 1234, then the up-down button, then 2 to open door 2.
I programmed the keypad to my garage door openers. Now my car-clickers do not work. Reprogrammed the car-clickers and the keypad does not work. How do I program the keypad and still allow my car-clickers to work?
I am having the same issue. I do not see any replies from the manufacturer for this specific issue and it indicates that there is no solution for this problem.
Only if you are standing in front of the safety beams. This can be programmed with the door in the opened, or closed position, make sure the door is clear of any obstructions - reach out at 1-800-354-3643
This does not work for the silentmax 1000 series. The programming light does not start flashing at all after holding down the programming button making it impossible to pair the remote keypad with the opener.
So how do I program two remotes? I can only seem to program 1 or the other. It's an Overhead garage door opener. If I use the learn function which seems is the only way, I loose functionality of the other opener.
With the factory reset procedure it appears someone can maliciously reset the the keypad rendering the keypad useless to open the garage door(s). What am I missing?
@GenieCompany I wasn't talking reprogramming, I said RESET PROCEDURE to clear the open/close code which is obviously stored in the keypad. Unlike the dumb keypads which don't store the code, just transmit a code depending on the keys you push. But, after thinking about it, any keypad is subject to malicious disabling by removing the batteries.

So I have tried this process several times for the past hour and my pad does not flash green. All I get are red backlighting. Even the initial clearing gives me a red backlight with a green flash. Entering the new code give me red backlight with tone, indicating the code is not accepted. What’s going on?
It sounds like your garage door opener has reached its maximum number of devices. You will want to check how many devices your Marantec can hold, and see if you can clear and restart programming any devices you have.
Taking this pos back to HD. I've spent an hour + trying to get a fugging keypad remote to work. P*** on that. Will not reset holding the up/down and program buttons. Can pull the batteries, wait 5 minutes put them back and STILL won't reset. But trying DID stop all 4 or our car remotes from working..... Even this help video, give some TIMES in the description where SPECIFIC TASKS are shown. ie 5:47 - programming multi doors or whatever..........
so after some time fiddling around with this thing not working. here are the correct steps you need to perform in order to program it to a Genie Model 2024 Professional Line. May work for others idk…: These numbers correspond to the instructions in the manual. 1, 2, 5, 3 (ID#1), 4, 6 (make sure opener stops running and remote stops flashing), 7. hope this helps someone out
New build house with a Lift Master. Mine does not work and im pretty ashamed that I can't figure it out. Ive tried at least ten times with the direction. I give up, and hate this product and myself. Thanks for the failure.
I have followed every step verbatim. I don’t get a reset tone, no flashing back lights, no movement. Definitely not a quality product. Will be shooting this device at the gun range.
Sorry to hear the video was not helpful. We would be happy to help you program the Universal Keypad if you still need assistance. Please contact our customer support at 1-800-354-3643.
I am trying to sync this with my Craftsman red/orange button opener. I follow the instructions and when I go to sync it, the opener clicks, but does not operate. Then the keypad ends up flashing at the end because it failed to sync. I tried literally everything. I reset it probably over a hundred times and tried, tried again. One single time, it correctly operated, then the keypad acted like it didn't sync correctly and constantly gave me a red lit keypad again like all the other times.
yea the instructions are really confusing. when u look for the door opener number look inside the panel of the actual keypad itself. as long as thats correct i kept trying it like 7 times and did the same thing until it worked. put in my passcode, put in the opener number and then dont hold the learn button too long, and then hit the arrow button a bunch of times this video helped more if im being honest m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hcbwTHWlTZY.html
@@lB-ov3yn Yeah, I tried exactly what he did over 100 times. Every time, I could hear the actual motor click, but not fully engage to open/close the door. Then I would cycle through the entire list by hitting the open/close button and none of them would work. There were three times when I did something different and it actually opened the door, but it wouldn't actually sync the keypad. I tried to replicate it by doing the exact same thing, but it wouldn't open it again.
