I've gotten 20% into the video and so far you've only described what you are going to be doing, and we haven't learned anything about Nolan except that you love love him. You've shown your folders a few times. I've gotten tired of the repetition and waiting for you to discuss these great beginnings and endings.
I've watched it all the way and unfortunately he doesn't talk about conclusions, he just takes you along while he is observing them but spends little to no time talking about conclusions.
Showing the main character from the perspective of the side-character at the end is a great way to dissociate from the film in smaller steps, but also since the secondary character is the closest thing a viewer can have to "self-insert" in the film it can serve to see the hero from a normal person's perspective. Yes we followed you through all the story and felt your emotions, but now it's time that I return to a third-person understanding of this main character, and see them for what they are : bigger than life.
Would love to see you do more deep dives into directors using this theory. Really enjoy seeing how the insights are unearthed as you watch a director's filmography.
Thanks for this. What I gleaned from this was the importance of theme. The opening scene often conveys the state of mind of the main character and the theme simultaneously. The ending scene conveys the current state of mind of the protagonist and where the story may continue past the end credits.
Such a cool way to find patterns and analyze!! Would absolutely tune in to see this kind of thing with other directors, Villeneuve and Matt Reeves would be amazing!! If I wanted to do some of this myself, where would I find the clips? Just on RU-vid or is there a service somewhere?
There's so much in the opening of Interstellar that only makes sense the second time. And you'd never know it watching it the first time either. It's quite perfect.
Love your videos! Just some constructive critisism: This video could've been half the run time. You've explained the premise of your video like 3 times and it's all over the place. Still very interesting topic! Thanks for putting the work in!
have u ever tried doing anything apart from editing videos? u may find four how less stressful you life becomes. may be good for you, man ( saying this with good intentions)
Do you know that most of Nolan´s movies are based almost shot by shot on an argentinian serie? its documented side by side in Superastral movies fulfilled
This is really hard to watch with the flow of audio and video interrupted so much with constant jump cuts. I often wonder if the cuts are automatic based on gaps in audio, as I can't imagine someone wasting so much time on it.
