Un-monitored nets are a *HORRIBLE* idea on thru-water flow ways that are shown. In areas that only see water during storms it's quite useful. In either instance they will just trap wildlife and stray pets which then die and create a rather noisome situation. Better to have an oscillating screen that continually clears itself (a net on a drum that dumps it's accumulated litter out of the way. This does not impede water flow as it remains clear and dumps trapped wildlife aside. Hard on fish, though).

Awesome idea. Problem? Getting the lazy ass state and county laborers bosses to get their butts to do the work. Taxes at work? Ya sure.

Doctor Cheng most cell phones have a “do not disturb while driving” feature. Unfortunately most people don’t turn on that feature. Too bad cell phone companies couldn’t come up with a feature that basically locked the phone from being used while driving. The hardest part I see about that would be the phone being able to tell if you were actually driving or just a passenger in a moving vehicle.

What makes you think they'd go find the nearest public toilet? Given the vandalism some of the drunk yobs do, the public toilets would not be in operation very long.

nope at effective, not all garbage make it out on the open. Imagine an arteries when it gets a build up inside. The water way would eventually constrict and the canal would eventually block without proper maintenance and this could be a huge difference in densely populated cities. Imagine people throwing cans each seconds and millions of people share the same space, its like you would need to clear the canal every half a day or so depending on the weather condition and that's labor intensive. Here in the Philippines the trash here can even make flood canals walkable because poor urban design, slums clumping up together near flood drains, and poor public discipline. Proper throwing trash in bins and *not throwing in streets and storm drains* is still the best solution

You can guarantee I'd make anyone I saw throwing trash around pick it up and place it in a bin, we have many. We have a whole day dedicated to cleanup. It still doesn't stop the trash because people are stupid. Mostly tourists. It's better than doing nothing.

We do clean up drives but it is being used by greedy politicians as campaigns. We have many trash bins but still I can't understand the difference between drainages and trash bins

@Lana Joy i know, i live in the Netherlands and it can be just as wet, but what i am trying to say is that you are more likely to slip on a wet surface than on a dry surface, and if the sun is shining it can glare back into your eyes, thus reducing visibility and that isnt a problem when it rains.

I have done concerns about the amount of glare this LED poles would create, especially on a rainy night.

LED traffic lights have a problem in colder areas . They get covered on ice and snow. Regular lights are warm enough to melt it, but with LED lights you have to add a heater, which kills any energy savings.

@@travisrolison9646 Presumably just the pole-wrap portion would be LED supplemental to the main lights and cost virtually noting *extra* to power. We didn't NOT USE rubber tires because they get a bit slipperier in the wet and snowy/icy places. We just made prudent adjustments to rubber compound technology and carried on. Admittedly it was decades ago now but I did see an up-close display of "traffic lights over the ages" and they featured some serious built-in metal visors to counteract glare and some weather issues. Point being - traffic lights can be specialized to suit different climates per installation. Intersections where lots of distracted collisions happen might be perfect for something like that pole lighting. Possibly even making the strip semi-animated like a simplified pixel board with pulsing in the proper direction.

Ugh no on the LED traffic lights. Light pollution and UGLINESS polution! Plus it enables distracted drivers. My city recently implemented a $1,000 fine for talking on the phone or texting while driving ($3,000 if involved in a wreck) and suddenly people go now when the light turns green

It's more a case that the outside uses mirrors to made it harder to see by reflecting the pavement around it and instead of cover boards they use one way glass that allows natural/street light in. Just remember not to take giant flash light in with you :p

Light pollution is actually a thing, believe it or not. As is sound pollution. They don’t talk much about “smell pollution,” but I think it’s definitely a thing. My husband is a habitual offender. 😵

@@calebmatthews2026 😂 wow. Calm down. A proper raincoat isn't generally warm enough for you to wear just the one coat. So you'd have to wear one underneath. I'm basing my experience off a few trips overseas to places like the UK, Canada and some parts of Europe. You can get coats with waterproof exteriors but most people would just use an umbrella. For a country like the UK for example, when rain can be unexpected, an umbrella is much more appropriate. It means your coat won't be wet when entering onto public transportation like trains as well when you're all tightly packed in like sardines during peak time which would also get others wet. An umbrella can be shaken of to remove the water, as can your coat but if it's got some kind of lining to make it warmer, if the water does get in it would take alot longer to dry out than an umbrella would. Imagine rain when the temperature is -7°C basically. A proper raincoat wouldn't do you much good, you'd need a coat underneath and have to take it off your raincoat when entering the train to avoid water dripping everywhere and on everyone else.
