Golf isn't all that much fun if you are constantly curving the ball offline missing fairways and greens, learning how to consistently square up the club face at impact is a key skill that all golfers need and over the last 20+ years i have found a really reliable system that has helped golfers do just that.
In this video I share with you the 3 stage process that will teach you how to square the club face at impact every time giving you complete control over your golf ball
The most common issue here is that golfers are subconsciously aware that they need to do this, but they often do it in the wrong way which results in over the top swings, early releases and poor body movement.
Really hope you enjoy and as always just drop me a comment and ill get back to you

I just started playing October 2023. I dabbled in the early 90’s but have decided to get more serious. I’m shooting under 100 most rounds and learning the whole, “strike the ball first.” It’s the most difficult sport I’ve ever played. My short game is coming along nicely and my goal is to be shooting low 90’s when I reach my first year of playing. I really enjoy and appreciate you taking time to share with guys like me, a hack.

Absolutely one of your best training videos for not only how to swing a golf club but most importantly how to square the face for accurate directional control and compression. It’s going into play my next round. Worked well on practice range today. Thank you

Hi Chris great video I seem to think this is an extension to your video from last week where the drill was for setup impact. I have finally got my practice net and can now start working with your videos to improving my technique as I’ve got a President Cup game this week and I want to get a good score. With your videos I’m sure going to try and make that happen.

Awesome Chris. Thank you. I’m playing a round this afternoon with someone I’ve known since 91. He mentioned that he still struggles with a slice (we haven’t played in around 20 years due to children and living basically a 2.5 hour drive from each other here in Melbourne). Due to him being a good friend and the round will be more hits and giggles, I’ve sent him this very video which will hopefully help him and get you another few subscribers. Luckily for me it’s halfway and also a course that I was a club member throughout my teens where I got my handicap down to half my age). At 50, handicap is similar and due to technology I can hit each club further so it will be an interesting round. Hopefully he can get even just part of this video as I know it will lead to more golf games. Perfect timing. Cheers, Marcus.

@@willemflach9834 A lovely course. My home club is Sandhurst (my backyard is the 8th (Par 3 tee) on the Champions 18. Playing at Yarrambat hitting of at 2.04. Good luck with your round. 😊

Great strat sending to someone you'll be playing soon. If you know he watched it, make sure to have some money on the round. Nothing against the content of the video but if someone is trying to incorporate changes from a video they just watched, it will be a big number on the score card most of the time.

@@M1Swagg72 I agree 100%. Hence why we arranged to hit a bucket of balls each at the driving range before our round. He ended up only trying it during our actual round once or twice. However, the idea has been planted at least to provide an alternative as the number of scratch golfers on here will be low. I had a shocking round as I gave a total of 4 balls swimming lessons on a course that I was a junior member of when it was new in the 80’s (played twice there so if anything the water hazards were less). A proper shocker! 😂

Love your videos and explanations. You've really helped my golf game. Thank you. Since watching and using your drills, I've gone from a mid 90s to a low 80s, now if only I didn't putt 40 times a round!

Nice demonstration Chris. For a driver should the timing or positioning of the rotation feel slightly different in comparison to an iron shot?

Respectfully, Over the top is not a result of no. Square at impact. U have other things going on that cause ur ofer the top move. Perhaps try learning how to transfer weight to left side heel then drop the club into the slot deactivate shoulder turn as ur first move.

Just superb Chris as always. Without a doubt this is probably the most important skill in golf - if I could master this skill, I wouldn’t even need to know how to play bunkers 😊 Does the Blaster App provide feedback as to how well you are closing the face? Thanks for the great job you do!

Chris, for your 3rd drill, is this the same move that should be used for a distance wedge?
@user-yo5sg8zz3u
@user-yo5sg8zz3u 2 месяца назад
Thanks Chris another gem of a video. When you have a slow swing you ask for a closed face to hit the ball low and left, yet when you increase the swing length, the club face comes back to square for hitting the ball straight, is that going to happen naturally or do we need to focus on that? Cheers Socks in NZ
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 2 месяца назад
Great question, generally as you up thr speed it becomes harder to make the movements that you were rehearsing, so I would say rehears the left shots and as you add speed you should find that naturally that becomes harder to do and you end up with the neutral shot, but this may be different golfer to golfer. However, once you essentially know and have trained the right move, it’s then just a case of saying to yourself, a little more of that, or a little less of that, to find the good one

My golf superpower is that i hit all clubs stupidly straight! but only carry driver 210, think i have an element of early release and save slight steepness by moving through the ball to shallow,evidence is my divots are long shallow square and down the line,sometimes they start after the ball! i know this is a fault will try headcover drill,have done a lot of right arm only drills which helps square clubface

Thoughts on maintaining a face square to the path using a grip/wrist hinge that is set up to produce it (ie. No opening, and therefore no closing required)?
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 2 месяца назад
Hey Scott, there are golfers they open the face less, DJ, Brooks etc but Hearn impossible to keep the face square to the path throughout whist also generating any kind of speed The only shots that do this would be putts and short chip shots

The square clubface is automatic when the rest of the swing and setup is properly executed. Respectfully is one focuses on squaring clubface manually its a futile effort.
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 2 месяца назад
Afraid this just isn’t true, the face squaring automatically goes against all the physics, data and studies that show is exactly what happens. The golfer has to ‘work’ to square the face, nothing automatic about it unfortunately. Even just the resistance of air against the face of the driver approaching the ball is trying to open the face, if you as the golfer does nothing it will never arrive effectively
@nebula524
@nebula524 2 месяца назад
chris, why not just strengthen one’s grip?
@ChrisRyanGolf
@ChrisRyanGolf 2 месяца назад
Strengthening the grip generally means that it’s set in such a way that it will ‘twist’ during the swing, so it could be an option and it’s almost going the same thing in that it encourages you to twist the shaft on the way down. The issue then would be it means you are unable to use other speed factors so distance would be a huge issue at impact

Great lesson, but the way you swing the club standing straight up is NOT how the club swings in an actual swing. Could you please demonstrate an actual swing standing up, with shaft lean and body positins at impact, and explain how low point after impact can be achieved. That would really improve our understanding. Top down camera angle with painted ball position would be perfect.
@kevinjohnson4039
@kevinjohnson4039 2 месяца назад
Actually his demonstration makes perfect sense whether he is standing at address or standing up straight as he did in his example. In both scenarios the path of the club is the same - rotating about his torso/upper body, the clubface does the same thing, it opens by roughly 90° So we need to close it by that same 90° at impact, makes no difference if he is standing up straight or bent over a ball.
