I’m so confuse I’ve been doing everything to avoid throwing my hands down so I don’t cast I’ve been hitting the ball pure and lots of control contact with a nice draw, but my speed is lacking. I figured that’s due to age but now I got a practice this that something seems so counterintuitiveto what we’ve been told and to what would seem like would bring back the casting yips again….dude, I hope you’re right
But don't you have to be careful with that? Once you lift your club, it changes where the ball will make contact with the face. You would have to adjust where you place the club before lifting. I think the club will have to be placed further past the ball so when you hover it will be then back in the middle of the face. Yes, no?
Great stuff! Love your new approach to lessons which are very well presented to help the common golfer understand and yet based so much on new technical findings from golf research.
If your goal is to hit the green in regulation, why scope the flag at all? Why wouldn't you just look at your GPS watch, use the middle of the green distance, and hit toward the fattest part of the green?
Chris I think a light bulb went off for me thanks to this video to ensure my center of mass stays behind the ball at impact instead of trying to force my body to stay back. Solution:push lead foot to make the lead hip go up and back. I have not tried this on the range yet however would like to know if should do this with my irons and fairway woods or would it cause me to thin my shots by hitting up on it? Or not because I dont tilt my trail shoulder with irons like the driver?
I just watched Rory explain how to hit a fairway wood in which he said he never hits down on it but tries to sweep it & not take a divot, obviously going against what we're being taught by nearly everyone.
Great video Chris. Thank you as I can relate 100%! At 50, even though I’m the same height and weight and actually stronger than I was in my 20’s, everything else ages (except both of my hip sockets are both only 10 years old) and my driver distance has reduced slightly. That being said I’m happy with 260-275 metres from the tee. I can’t reach long Par5’s in two shots anymore and I’m ok with this as my main focus has shifted to the scoring irons to help ensure just one put.
For me, I was taught years and years ago to bring the club back down the way you brought it back. Plus, if you're moving forward, looks to me like you would miss the bag completely. But hey...if this works for you, great!!! We always need help. Thanks for all you do, Chris.
The full speed reads faster that trackman by couple mph on ball and clubhead speed .still good video best thing to do is get in gym and get stronger to hit it hard 💪🏻💪🏻
Awesome vid mate. I've been getting a feeling of being cramped for space with driver through the ball. I like how a power move can give me more space in the hitting zone. Can't wait to try!
Agree with a lot of tips. However, and ive said this on other videos. Almost all of the longest hitters on the PGA tour have pretty slow backswings...cameron champ, jake knapp, gary woodland, luke list... incredibly slow takeaways. Sometimes this can have the effect or feeling that you have to activate the lower body to generate some speed, which in turn results in the downswing starting correctly with the body before the arms and hands.
Yeah absolutely, plenty out there who send it with slower moves away, but when it comes to maxing out speed generally faster is better, go up a level and look at the long drive competitors and there are no slow moves away to my knowledge, but always swings that buck the trend
@@ChrisRyanGolf I think it's probably better for the long drive guys, but not sure if it's the best way to attain high 170 or even 180 ball speed . Remember there are 13 other clubs to play with, no point sacrificing the whole bag and swing for 15-20 yards
Well yeah I certainly wouldn’t advocate this with a wedge or short iron, or even say that you ‘must do this’. I can’t control who watches these videos, so is it wise for them to work on this or not? I don’t know, I believe this to be accurate info and movements that will add speed but ultimately it comes down to the viewer to make good decisions on what is good for their game
Hey Scott, he did, super impressive! I certainly never claimed to be a better driver of the golf ball than Rory, but I did have decent speed a few years back
Hey Chris! When you say swing harder where is the club speed coming from? Is it your body rotation, hip rotation, setting of the trail arm wrist, or just old fashioned arm speed?
Personally for me it’s everything, faster backswing, faster downswing, faster hips, arms, club etc. that first point is a little more of a mindset rather than a swing change, it’s just having the intent to move faster
Chris, I am so grateful for your instructional videos. They are so helpful and insightful. As a physician and older golfer, I see some of the instruction by others online that seem more likely to cause injuries to us mere mortals. Your drills to get hand/arm speed early in the downswing are fantastic. All of your videos are amazingly helpful, easy to understand and follow. I just wish you were closer, so I could take lessons with you in person. Thank you for all your hard work and inspiration!!!
This is the best and most reliable visuals I've ever encountered! I like to think I hit my clubs pretty far, but I've genuinely gained 15-20 yards on all of my irons and I'm hitting the ball so much straighter! Went to find a driver tip from you after seeing this video and found your 'stood in front of wall' tip which was also so so helpful. Thank you!
Hi Chris, I’m 75 and recently started topping the ball when driving, I mean consistently topping it, destroying my game. This despite raising tee height. I’ve always hit the driver very well in the past and got to 10 handicap in my younger days. Nowhere near that now😢
