For the most part Gacha games do have some variety besides open world. Arknights = Tower Defense Nikke = Rail Shooter Snowbreak = Arcade style shooter Neural Cloud = Autochess Umamusume = Management simulator/visual novel (I dunno what the actual term for this gameplay style is lmao) Girls Frontline 2 = X-com style tactics game Legends of Runeterra/Shadowverse = Trading Card Game These are just a some games I can think of outside the usual Hoyo titles Granted, a lot of these probably aren't what you call groundbreaking gameplay as they are pretty much mobile games at the end of the day. And personally, if I really want a game that I can sink a lot of time into and has less gacha elements then I'd just play a normal non-gacha game. That's how I see it at least.

The open world in WuWa is amazing, Kuro just stopped giving players reasons to explore it. Echo farming wasn't fun *enough* after the first few weeks, and most events they added for 1.1 take 10 minutes or have nothing to do with exploring. All they really added was a bunch of log-in events and double rewards for stamina activities. They could add a Genshin-esque event that takes you around the open world and has you complete challenges, there's one every other patch in that game. Just copy paste and use your own touches to make it fun for WuWa players. There are events that have you hunt down specific monsters, and you get special drops from them. There's economy simulators in Genshin/HSR that might be interesting in WuWa (especially with the echo system). Just incorporate enough combat into the events and players will enjoy them.

Someone who doesn't read the story, immerse themselves, and only fight like a bruiser? As a content creator, can you truly spit out facts and opinions with your half--baked knowledge? She can talk with confidence but then again what's backing it up is just bleh. She's not even relatable! She's not emotionally invested, then goes on a rant about her feelings about the open-world afterwards goes "I dunno haha..." like wtf?! She's just like Captain Cabinetz like anyone who was in Ryuuku-sensei's stream heard her un-based take on ZZZ. People like us who played PGR wanted a genshin made game by Kuro, then we get people like you who's burn out Hexjuice like bro I'm trying to chill and why am I getting drama on what's wrong with wuwa(Will it even reach kuro).

Well, most genres have been covered in gacha games. Even roguelike thats being asked for we have in many of the popular games (PGR has a roguelike event going on, random chars, random events. Honkai star rail has Multiple of these modes now with slight differences also allowing you to use fully built chars. Wuthering waves has illusive realms and I'm sure as time goes on we'll see more of this. 5-6 years ago I do recall some roguelike games being advertised by yters, just didn't play those.) We have plenty of card games, turn based, strategy rpg types, auto play, puzzle games, action games, open world; it just comes down to being willing to play something that didn't come out in the last year. At some point even if what is being asked for came out this year, it'd be considered an old game to people eventually. Since you and Hex are content creators, you're only looking for recent games being released, since thats what will likely get the most interaction/views of course I get it, but it means ignoring what is already there.

There's a couple of things that go into this, but if anything, the gated region releases of gacha vs. traditional open world games ruins the seamless concept of open world exploration. This is largely on Genshin, for not making older regions relevant to explore. When you clean up a region, it's empty, and when you go to a new region, you don't bother going back to older regions unless it's for a boss or domain, but those don't really count as exploration. So really, these regions could have been created as loadable instances rather than full open worlds. Cause what's the point? Traditional open world games try to make you backtrack to earlier areas of the game for relevant reasons. Genshin doesn't try to make you do that. Dragonspine is just there. When's the last time we've needed to go there. Wuthering Waves attempted to give some reason to use the open world, by making echoes farmable in the open world. It doesn't fully fix the motivation to comb an open world, but it's more motivation than Genshin gives. But it's still not perfect motivation.
@5_tokki

This is one aspect of this genre that I wish developers touched on first. My suggestion is to introduce a metroidvania upgrade system where finishing one area gives you an upgrade that opens a new section in the previous area. For example, in Genshin, finishing Fontaine will allow us to explore water bodies in other regions too.

I think my only issue regarding that video in particular is the topic of feeling fatigue towards open world gacha games. She makes it seem like games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves have been around for decades when in reality it's only been 4 years and we realistically only have 2 prominent ones in the gacha game scene being Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. This isn't nearly enough time and there isn't nearly enough games like Genshin out yet to begin feeling fatigue, unless Genshin happens to be your first very gacha game and you came into the genre only playing open world single player rpgs.

And then out comes NTE a huge open world city RPG, and this entire argument goes back out the window because it's not about it being an open world but instead about it being an ENGAGEING world to interact with. Big world = methods to get around that are fun, a REASON to go around and interact. No one wants to explore in Genshin/HSR/WuWa etc because the rewards are so small, such a trickle, and there is no large dopamine hits. Aka is BORING ya know

My tin foil fat says that the reason genshin keep adding more and more areas while doesn't even change anything systematically to practically wear down the player base, making everybody tired of the aspect of open world itself. Basically sabotage themself to ruin it for everybody, they know they're not gonna be the top forever, so why not just ruin it for everybody and bring everyone down with them. Because majority of the player base that leave genshin to go try out other games that are similar, they will feel tired by the same thing they have been trained for 4 years in genshin.

The biggest difference between Genshin's open world and Wuwa's to me is that Genshin's actually gives you a sense of scale compared to Wuwa's, making Teyvat's geography feel way more authentic to explore / traverse than Solaris-3. I 100% all the areas in both Genshin and Wuwa, and upon finishing I tried to understand why I felt like Genshin's world drew / consumed me into it more than Wuwa's by a long shot. Initially I thought it had to do with Wuwa's camera zooming out way more than Genshin's, which in turn made me feel like I wasn't "there" along my character exploring the world. But then I realized that it simply had to do with just how convenient and fast traversing in Wuwa is. In Genshin whenever I look at Starsnatch Cliff from near its base I can feel just how massive this structure is and how impossible it is to scale it. By contrast in Wuwa structures similar to Starsnatch Cliff are nothing but just a minor inconvenience. There's nothing a "3/4 stamina bar, Grapple into a bullet jump and 10 seconds" combo can't climb in Wuwa. Not just vertical world size is lost in Wuwa, but also horizontal world size. Being able to run almost Twice as fast as a Genshin character while also using No stamina for it transforms you into a bullet train and the world objectives into 3 minute walks from home to your local supermarket. The way in Genshin you heavily consider your stamina bar when climbing a mountain also means it makes you predetermine a climbing path on said mountain. You observe the mountain to look for slightly flat surfaces on it that allow you to take a rest and restore your stamina, and then proceed to climb it (or you can just adapt a path as you are climbing without any prior planning). The system promotes observing the world around you and actually find solutions to exploring it.

Xianyun exist. Genshin exploration is not that much slower with her and Yelan. Also you do the same in WuWa. Sprinting up walls consume a lot of stamina and Xianyun is prob halfway up already.
@_BlackMethod_
@_BlackMethod_ 2 месяца назад
@@zealgaming8161 Okay how many people own Xianyun? Especially newer players whom some don't bother to even roll for Yelan. Because last time I checked both Xianyun and Yelan aren't getting mailed to every Genshin player (old and new) as compensation for gameplay performance issues. Now how many characters in WuWa can sprint-climb, use Grapple, do bullet jumps and perma-run faster than a Genshin character on average? And don't sweat an answer with "oh but muh stamina is so low early game without data bank" because (1) it doesn't affect running in any way and (2) it's all a matter of increasing your world level enough so that you can start collecting yellow echoes, which can take up to a month at most if you play consistently. A new WuWa player in the future will at most only be able to feel the challenge of a low stamina bar in the current region / areas that exist now, and then proceed to speed through the rest of the regions with a fully-leveled Data Bank. In Genshin stamina upgrades feel ten times more meaningful and they end in Liyue. Maybe if they continued in the regions after Liyue I probably wouldn't even be here talking about this.

Gacha games condition you to play for rewards. You fight and explore to get more pulls for future characters, this is by design. So, when there are no rewards to be gained by exploring, of course you’ll get bored because that’s the whole reason you went exploring in the first place. What Wuthering should have done is add more opportunities for getting a rewards such as adding a new companion quest like Calcharo for example, or more side quests and events in this patch if they wanted the playerbase to become more active.

I think respawnable chests/mini challenges would be the best hotfix. Not saying we need ALL chests to respawn, but have rng respawn of the chest that you collected in rng times makes you want to return to older locations and explore again. Or returning small quests from NPCs to go kill, or collect stuff with a bit of premium currency rewards will make location alive again.

I think she played too many open world game, and associated them with open world gacha. we have only 3 major open world gacha game so far. Genshin, ToF, and Wuwa. and Wuwa only came out a few months. this is among hundred if not thousand of Gacha game, most of them are cash grab, and many of them are turn base. if anything, turn base gacha game should be the one that are oversaturated. even ZZZ is not really an open world. so among all the gacah game, we got 3 open world games. that is not alot

I can do my dailies for WuWa and HSR in under twenty minutes. I don’t play it necessarily for just the open world but for the whole package. That said, gacha world exploration is several tiers below playing something like Witcher 3, Elden Ring, BOTW, etc. Hell, it’s a tier below even Bethesda and Ubisoft games. A large number of people probably started playing WuWa specifically because it was an open world game, so the open world could be seen as advertising budget that ultimately led to the success of the game. Since the developers working on open world exploration content are probably not the same developers who are working on other aspects of the game, getting rid of the open world wouldn't have magically made the rest of the game better. There are only two arguments against open world that really make sense to me: 1. People don't want to do exploration but feel pressure to do it anyway for premium currency. If that's you, you probably shouldn't be playing an open world game to begin with. If you don't want to explore and are okay with just leaving the currency on the map, then this probably isn't an issue for you. I like exploring but don't care so much about the gacha, so I take my time with things. I don't have a single 100% region yet, and exploration doesn't feel like a chore since I don't feel like I need to do it. 2. Daily activities involve doing things in the world, which will almost certainly take up more time than just loading an instance or doing an auto-battle. This is probably the best argument against open world. Then again, if you don't want to spend time playing your gacha game and just want the gacha currency to feed your gacha addiction, you probably shouldn't be playing a gacha game with a focus on gameplay to begin with. There are gachas that don't have much gameplay at all, and dailies will be even faster there.

I definitely don't want another big gatcha game Genshin Hsr WuWa With my work hours i dont have alot of freetime so those are it If i dont feel like playing one i just play one of the others but i cant add another longterm gatcha If i did play zzz i wouldn't spend nor would i want to play all that often which means i wouldn't bee able to pull for new characters and the game would become monotonous and boring So if i wanted to add a new game id have to quit one of the ones im playing currently Which i wont do However from the developers prospective there are many players who will play every new title and spend on them so why wouldn't they keep making similar titles

Exactly this. I play those exact three games and they're too much for me as is, there's no planet I can fit another one. The only way I play a new one is if one of these are dropped, and I won't drop HSR because it's the easiest to get through, which means it would have to be Genshin or WuWa. With my job every day, I just cannot do more than this. I've almost quit all other games even, I used to play League of Legends all the time for instance, but now I barely get to log into it. And even with these 3 games, one of the bunch is always suffering from me missing dailys or my points overcharging to max. Not to mention, I'm a light to medium spender. It was easy to get whatever I wanted when it was just Genshin, but the more games that come out is the more I spread my dollar. I refuse to spend 3x as much. No, instead it means I'm spending 1/3rd as much on each game, so it's not reaching as far. This is a personal thing, as it's my choice completely to spend, and I realize that. But it's still a factor, even if it's a personal one. I did a whole video essay on my channel a month ago, about this very topic. There's just too many gacha games to play as it is, let another thinking about another one. Everyone's all excited about Azur Promilia and NTE and I'm just over here like "with what free time!?"

I think genshin is wasting my time even though I like it. I understand if they want to gatekeep the main story quest but let me skip side quests. I will have more quality times on genshin if they let me do it.

I just did the only sensible thing. I dropped both Hoyo slop games. I just realized that for the few good parts with the story, there's far more boring parts. In WuWa I just skip.

If that's the case, I'd recommend playing non-gachas. Some gachas respect your time better than some gachas. But all of them, by nature, don't respect your time due to the daily login requirement to gain pulls.

The thing is that the Genshin and Wuwa exploration formula is not a good exploration formula, because it all comes down to getting chests that will give you the currency needed to pull on the banners. This sense of predictability goes against the real concept of exploration. When looking at other exploration games outside of the gacha bubble, when exploring the "rewards" for doing it tend to be much more interesting things than current gachas tend to provide. And also most people who "explore" do it using an interactive map, and that turns exploration into a "chore", which contributes to becoming boring, because all that matter is get them fast for pull the next character.
@nencrows_4580

Then don't use an interactive map. That takes the point of exploration out the window.

@@nencrows_4580 exactly, but for me I'm too lazy to look up interactive map so I just exploring blindly lol, I'm play slowly and pace my times so don't feeling like doing any "chore" yet.

You know what I don't care? Hollow focking Zero and the stupid arcade mode in ZZZ. I don't know how anyone can bash open world exploration when these two scourges of all game modes exist. And the fact that you have to do like 7 of those HZs per week is just such a massive chore that makes it 100x worse than any open world exploration. I would rather watch paint dry than play these game modes.

Yeah. Roguelike Hoyo slop is getting exhausting. Illusive realm is fun for an hour or two to try new toons. But that's all. Give me huge scripted boss encounters that are fun and difficult or boss rush modes.

I think we need exploration. Athought I think WuWa shoul do some more unique openworld things like where you need co-op to do things in the open world. Or something special needed to do to get that chest.

i quit genshin since got tired of it overtime by time of Sumeru desert, but the issue is not open world per se, but the same gameplay loop. Every game gets tiring over time. What it needs is more variety and change in gameplay. WuWas main issue is that its same as Genshin and people already got tired of Genshin. Say theres open world Monster Hunter game - people still would love it. Or project Mugen/NeT urban open world - too looks appealing to people. But there absolutely is need for more casual games like say Blue Archive (people name ZZZ, but its not really casual) with simple but fun gameplay loops. HI3 is best example of solving those issues - they just basically added new minigames and modes every patch, that provided different fun from basic loop.

I stopped playing Genshin after 2 years of playing not because I got bored with open world games, but because I got tired of Paimon and that they instead of adding more endgame content they just added a bunch of minigames like the TCG that have nothing to do with the core gameplay of the game I was playing the game for to begin with. Tho, the open world exploration in Genshin kind of started to feel like slog because of the stamina consumption while running and slow climbing while the map just kept getting bigger.

Even tho I do agree open world is not everyone's cup of tea dosent mean you should post around and tell everyone how much your not a fan of wanted more for like 2 or 3 videos of "HOW MUCH YOU WANTED MORE BUT DONT GIVE EXAMPLES OF THEM if the only things you play is gacha" but I don't understand why she is bashing wuwa when wuwa not even her main problem.

Now imagine how much of a pain in the arse it will be to invest in a `high spec phone` to run all those since if your just gonna play it on PC, you would be better off playing a game intended for pc, instead of one intended to be played a `short while` due to a stamina system. AKA why `Genshin clone` when you can just warframe where you are only time-gated by crafting times for things like weapons and warframe parts and you can not only buy platinum for your various needs, but can also TRADE said platinum with other players to get stuff and also USE said platinum to just straight up rush those for the impatient types. Moral of the story: The best games are the ones that respect your time, by letting you do other things then being forced to be constantly stalled, instead of `wasting` your time.
