In this second iteration of my ELTA Solar 42 emulator I add some extra inputs and outputs to the patch bay that do not exist in the hardware. For this demo I show how to use the new polyphonic V/Oct send/return ports to quantize the tuning. This completely abandons the ethos of the Solar 42, but it does make it easy to quickly create some beautiful sounds.
I use attenuated sample and hold from drone voices 3 and 8 as V/Oct inputs for voices 4 and 5. I use a Bernoulli Switch as a flip flop to alternate between voices 3 and 8. I use the sequencer to control the pitch of drone voice 2. Most of the polyphonic channels can be quantized directly. But none of the drone voices have V/Oct input or exponential FM. So I use a mixer to add the sequencer CV to the voice 2 knob CV coming from the send. Cross modulated LFOs slowly and subtly sweep the left/right filters. Lastly I use a polyphonic Bernoulli Switch to randomly bring drone voices 1,2,6,7 in and out.
The visible modules above the patch bay are just used in this demo, and are not part of the emulator. The large majority of the patch that implements the emulator is hidden off screen.
