Now, for just a real life example, in my own (somewhat nerdy, bookish) family, beginning G+C Preschool with each of my boys when they were roughly 3.5 has worked for us, and moving straight into G+C Primer for a "PreK" year around the time they turned 4 was good timing for my eldest and I foresee doing the same thing with my younger son.

Your review of the G+C preschool curriculum was a big reason why I bought it! I started "homeschool" when my son was three, but I was just pulling random ideas from the internet. When he turned four and his baby brother was a bit older we were ready for more structure. I used the teacher's guide for about three months (basically writing down memory statements by hand and saying them out loud, checking out books from the library). We loved it so much that it was an easy decision to purchase. My son doesn't have much interest in writing yet so we're not doing the morning menu for now. But he loves having the board by the table and reciting the cards. We weave what he learns throughout the day and he loves saying, "oh yeah, just like my card says!". We will hopefully finish the last two terms by May and I plan on doing the art/music portion at that time...maaaybe reintroduce the menu again. I plan on reusing preschool for another year to focus on writing and early phonics and get little brother involved ❤❤ primer will be an easy decision for afterwards. This is an absolutely wonderful curriculum and company. Thanks for your videos again!

Thank you so much- this has been extremely helpful. I have 4 kids, my oldest almost 7.5 and youngest 6 months. I appreciate the details and explanations. I am mostly looking for my almost 3 and 5 year old.

I'm not using this curriculum and don't plan to, but I just had to say that you do such an excellent job explaining curriculums when you do videos like this!! To the point I still watched it because I am a nerdy homeschool mom who loves to learn about curriculums, even ones I am not using. hahaha!

Oh, thank you so much for the compliment! I think it can be tough to really wrap your mind around what a curriculum entails when just perusing websites, so I always try to make the videos that I would find helpful when learning more about curriculum options.

I like thinking of their attention span at this age!!! I feel like I’m planting more seeds with my youngest than her understanding morals and the bible and I think it’s age appropriate!!! Primer looks awesome but a lot harder!!! My youngest loves acting out stories!!!

Yes, preschool is a great time to lay the foundations of the 'big ideas' that can serve them well for a lifetime!

How do you blend both sonlight with G+C? I saw another video where you mentioned using sonlight too. We have level T & P, but am trying to figure out how to use g+c for different reasons.
@SevenInAll

I've been using Sonlight P with G+C Primer for morning time right now--G+C Primer doesn't have a lot of reading scheduled for a week (one Bible story, one "Wondertale", one The Ology reading, one art or music topic to learn about), so because my boys LOVE hearing stories at breakfast, I've added the Sonlight P readings into our morning time to give us more to read. I don't try to align them or make them fit the same theme as G+C--I like that G+C lets us focus on learning one story or tale very deeply, while with Sonlight we just get to read more, because not every single story has to be learned deeply--sometimes you just want to hear a story. :)

Ah okay that’s a good low pressure way to use it! The way I was trying to blend GC preschool and sonlight felt like it was not working. I was trying to do all of the sonlight activities too. I think I’ve also been trying to learn deeply about each story/book and you’re right, not every reading experience needs to be like that. Sometimes reading it once is enough.

What is this binder you are using? I tried their menu binder and I’m not loving it- I like the look of yours!

I bought mine at a local bookstore, but it's a 60-sleeve binder something like this: amzn.to/3QFnBVY 60 Sleeves means there's enough for all the morning binder pages (plus a few extra) and I like that I don't ever have to switch out pages, I just flip to whichever page we're working on. I also like that it doesn't have rings like a normal 3-ring binder, especially since I have a lefty.

Fun compare and contrast! I enjoyed watching even though I am happy with our current preschool groove (and my youngest is the one going through it! 🥲).

Oh man, being in that season of knowing it's your last preschooler--many great adventures lie ahead but the preschool years really are something special.
