Oliver has come a long way in his training and is ready to do a few "chores" around the homestead. He pulls a load of firewood for the first time attempts to pull a project Jr and Isaac have been working on for quite some time! A hay bale unroller....Oliver does amazing but the hay bay unroller may still need a few adjustments!!! We also go over a small project we have decided to tackle in the coming year AND do a little "Sheep Update" with the flock. A few changes have taken place lately so don't miss out!
Oliver is a two year old Clydesdale stallion that we rescued earlier this year with the help of our viewers. He was very sick when we first got him and REALLY Underweight. He has come a long way and made a full recovery from EPM. He is now well and strong enough to start training to pull and eventually ride (Of course with the ok from our vet and chiropractor). Oliver is amazing and doing great for a young stallion. Even with new things he is calm. One of the things I noticed is how calm he is with the black dog that looks like it wants to play under Oliver's feet. Oliver you're such a good boy! ❤️

He was in rough shape and now look at this healthy, handsome boy who has learned a tremendous amount and trusts you so much. What a beautiful story you have with him. I just honestly love him so much. I mean, he's not my horse, I don't get to play with him, groom him, give him treats, ride him, and yet my heart fills so much when I see an Oliver video. He is absolutely amazing and it hasn't been a year yet. I never would have dreamed this after seeing the video of him arriving home from Texas. He was in such poor shape and I thought it was very touch and go. I am thrilled to death that he is where he is. My God, his legs have muscled up. I wish we knew how wide they were before vs now.

Love a keeper who says "good boy" when their horse responds to a command rather than "bad boy" or other namecalling when the horse Doesn't. we take these animals and their obedience for granted 99% of the time and often equestrians forget that a horse knowing and responding to commands is not the natural equine state. if a horse doesn't do something you want them to do, they're not doing anything wrong, they're being a horse. if they do something, ANYTHING you want them to do, even if it's just simple backing, tell them they're good and give them pets for it, because they've just made an effort to understand and react to an instruction from a human, and that's impressive.

Being an old lady from Norway I love following you on you tube. Learning a lot about horses, but also about how you treat each other and your animals. So much accept and understanding. So much care. You openly tell about your Christian belief. I tend more to believe in the great creator and us being a part of all creation. But you blessing your horse before working with it moved me deeply. I have just starting watching your video. I am now a fan. I love Oliver and the babies. I do hope that you mate Oliver with another Clydesdale because they are such majestic and beautiful horses. I have been waiting for more current videos as I have watched all that are 4 months to over a year old already. Please post as many horses that you can from the farm and the auctions. To think a year ago he was almost a goner. God stepped in and look what happened . I can't get over what a great horse he turned out to be. Oliver is bulking up nicely (muscle wise) you can't see it much under harness but without the harness you can. Wow he really is a smart boy. I just love draft horses, they really are gentle giants

Oliver looked like he just wanted to go to town, pulling the empty cart as fast as possible. His whole " attitude " changed once he got going after the wood drop off. That horse likes SPEED! Might be the nip in the air.., and wanting to run.

Nothing fazes our boy..the wheel falling off..Piney dancing around him..such a good calm gentleman.. he likes being active that's why he's not so good at just standing..he wants a job..but I'm aware he does need to be able to stand quietly.. its no trouble him pulling the cart JR is on as well as the log cart..he's a strong boy..and that is from your love and care from day 1 when you rescued him..😊..he's a very special horse but l know you're aware of that already 😂.. love seeing the sheep and the wonderfull Bear 🐻.. hope you all have a Happy New Year and l look forward to watching all your wonderful videos over the next 12 months..also hope you can double that 100.000 subscribers in 2024.. 🎉🎉🎉🇬🇧💞🙏✝️🐾🐕🐾🐕🐎👍👏👍👏🐑🐏🇺🇸

Interestingly, I love JR's DIY projects and explanations even though my background is computer science. It is the problem solving, I think. Also, it reminds me of my Dad doing things with, as I used to say, baler twine and paper clips! I have a whole new appreciation of the Clydesdale breed if they are all so calm by nature!! Oliver did really well all thing's considered. It's exciting to hear about your plan's for the land/ soil restoration. That is the future of what needs to be done with farming and lands for use. I think it will be smaller independent farmers leading the way who learn new ways to produce healthier, cleaner, toxin free produce and livestock that will restore the health of citizens. Liked this video. Something I've seen used on carriage horses to have them stand is a heavy block with a line to attach to the halter/bridle. Teaches them to ground tie. The block is carried on your wagon until needed to stop for a while. Happiest New Year to all. ❤ 🐎

you have to try in order to see what works. something I've seen before , someone took a rear end differential and turned the driveshift end up, then as you pull it the driveshaft hub spins and either spreads manure or seed, or whatever your need is. Good luck.

Oliver is trying his best - bless his heart! After watching "Working Horses with Jim" for a couple years and I am no expert by no means. He uses a one word command for, stop, backup, go, turn right etc. He does not say anything else in the middle of those commands or change the command with another type of the same word. I hope this is a positive comment as that is my intention. Good luck with Olivers training.

Green antique tractors are pretty sweet in the snow too, camera is ready just don't have any snow yet either. Horses are pretty with their winter coats too, makes them look bulked up.

I built a vege garden by adding 120 tonnes of rotten silage to 1,000M² = (480 tonnes to the acre) plus 12 tonnes to the acre Lime. I grew legendary sized vegetables for 20 years, without needing another gram of fertilizer!! This particular paddock was where i lost my boots - getting stuck in the mud. But after adding the rotten silage/hay bales, i could walk around all winter without barely making an impression 😂

No need to "un curl" the bales. Just plant your bales, (standing room only) and unwrap, then get a Mulcher to back over the bales. Once the Mulcher has done its work, you'll need a 120hp+ rotary hoe to plow it into the ground. Adding the mulch/hay up on high ground is an excellent idea, because all that excess fertility that gets rained off, will trickle down to lower ground 😊

Great video covering a lot of aspects in Oliver's training and how to build a bail roller and using old bails to fertilize fields. I learned quite a few new things from this. Thanks and Happy New Year to your entire family (including the horses, I think.)
