'Gentle Giant' was one of the most creative, musical and greatest performing bands of all time, they wrote some of the most intelligent and exact music ever. I was an audio engineer and musician in Cleveland in the 1970's-80's and was blessed to meet Derek, Ray and Kerry after a concert there.
Gentle Giant's music will never fade. Charming animation. Man with violin meets gal with cello. Sweet. As a violinist, cellist, violist, flutist, bassist, singer and on and on, I surely enjoyed this! Thanks for a great post.
My personal visuals of the beautifully sweet melancolic song in the 70's was so vivid, bittersweet and satifying that it's hard to watch this. But I still enjoyed it. Thanks
excellent and creative animated video for one of my favorite progressive rock bands of all time! i have been a Gentle Giant fan ever since i was first introduced to their music in the early 80's, and would love to see their work used for more creative video projects such as this in the future. thank you! 8-) bbc
Gentle Giant - I can't think of a better band for animation of this kind. Very charming. I first listened to GG because I read that they were similar to King Crimson. They're very different!
Hey man, I really liked it a lot, these Bohemienne-like atmospheres are my fav ones. You should watch La vie de Boheme by Aki Kaurismäki, I don't know why but this animation reminds me a lot this movie.
Isn't it quiet and cold walking all alone, alone? Happened I missed the bus and found I had to walk, alone What was that? Only me Hear the echo of my feet Footsteps Are they mine? Hear the echo of the street Wished I lived near at hand although I live alone, alone At least I'll find company, so why should I moan, alone Movement By my feet Paper wind across the street Curtains closed Sleepy heads Wrapped together in their beds I used to walk with someone else I didn't seem to notice sights and sounds of the lonely street I used to talk with someone else Now the only answers are the calls of the night Look at that alley cat, it's winding home to rest, alone Half-past four and daylight shows itself once more Walking all alone Walking all alone
Please find the time to do video justice to more of GG's songs! I've spent a lot of time wondering what might have happened to the band if their final album were released after the dawn of MTV rather than in 1980. It's a shame we'll never know now.
looking at the my space page of SAGA I discovered they were influenced by Gentle giant, Gentle who??? I decided to listen to their music and I'm drawn inside their music. I want more, much more.
Gentle Giant refused to bow to commercialization. Hats down to that! I am a bit curios though, how would they've done Shock the Monkey or such. Maybe is better that we never find out ...
Yeh, love the video. My absolute favorite Gentle Giant are the first three albums. After that, I felt they defined their sound too much, and in the process, lost some of the mystery inherent in albums like "Acquiring The Taste", which would be in my "Top 10 Albums Of All Time" . Fo sho my nizzles.
Depends if its a guy or a girl :) Either way, it is still a compliment. Some guys might not react very well to it though since they don't like being associated with the word "pretty". If it's to a girl, she'll love it.
It was done by Lior Vikks, I don't know him but it says in hebrew at the start of the video: "Quiet And Cold" " Movie By Lior Vikks" I think that they probably paid him to make this video...
Agreed, but don't leave Klaus Schulze, Isao Tomita, Jean Michell Jarre, Can, Porcupine tree, Tangerine dream, Ash-Ra Tempel, Al Dimeola, Paco de Lucia, Stanley Clarke, Jean-Luc Ponti Etcetera Etcetera.
