Naptural85 . Hi I have been wearing my hair natural for quite some time and I plan on keeping it that way. My is very curly and gets dry a lot. what should I do about it and what products are best used for it? Right now I am using shea moisture shampoo and conditioner with the deep treatment. What should I put on my hair after deep conditioning? Any advice?

Naptural85 you look so beautiful and make these styles look so easy! what is the maximum time you can keep these braids in?

Kiara Williams you should search in this channel for the deep conditioning video, that'll tell you what to do.....also just try not to manipulate your hair too much after you moisturize it!

OK SO..... I want to start off by saying this is NOT a trolling comment. I love this channel and what it has done for me and many others on their NH journey. However I will say I tried this technique and there are a few things not mentioned that may help others attempting this style. 1. We all have different hair types so if you have a more coarse texture, 2 stran twist the left out hair to prevent frizzing. 2. The clear rubber bands do prevent breakage, BUT are also very fragile and will break if you don't use more than 2 of them. Several of them broke after I installed the braids and were a headache to pull out. 3. BE CAREFUL when putting product on your hair. MAKE SURE you are not using anything flammable. Even oils can catch fire if the flame is too close to your hair. 4. This hairstyle is not a good idea if you work out often or sweat a lot. I say that because if you wash your hair your roots will no longer blend with the hair. Anything that prevents someone from washing their hair I don't recommend. 4. This took several hours to do including washing ,blow drying, sectioning, braiding, trimming hair that would stick out along the braids, using a lighter, and finally dipping the braids in water. Overall the style is worth it depending on your hair type. For more coarse hair Marley hair might be a better choice if done correctly. These are just a few tips that might help out. 💜 I also want to say to new naturals...this comment is really for you. Not everyone has the same texture so keep that in mind when watching natural hair videos. If kanekalon hair doesn't blend with your beautiful texture don't be discouraged. Not all hair tutorials have the same results for everyone. Im not a cosmetologist or a "guru". I'm just a fellow natural black woman on this journey as well trying to help .

If you’re scared of using rubber bands for your box braids, you can let them sit in a bowl of your favorite oil while you’re braiding your hair. This will reduce the friction of the rubber bands, as well as nourish your scalp

one thing I've learnt from braiding is that, if you split the braiding hair in three equal sections and attach your hair equally to those sections, it makes the braid smoother and reduces the bumps. It takes a lot of patience to learn this method but it makes the braid a lot smoother and long-lasting

it may be time-consuming, but it's so easy. I do my hair as a stress reliever, so I like to take a lazy Sunday and use the whole day to just wash, stretch, trace, and braid. the whole thing takes like 12 hours, but I have very long hair and it is usually shorter for most people. and that's why I appreciate jumbo braids so much, because with my hair length and thickness it might take a full 24 hours to do smaller braids.

@naptural86 do you think this process would be the same with Marley hair and twists? I am interested in twists bc they are a little more flexible than braids, would you use the same method? I think I am going to try this (once I see how your hair is when you take them out...we are hair twins).

@DiscoveringNatural 7 лет назад
Michelle Rodgers This method works great with twists however, if you feel the twists will be loose at the root. you could braid a little bit and then twist afterwards. I did this video a year or so ago without braiding and a trick to make it not come out.

I just had an idea...if you used a latch hook to feed the braiding hair under the rubber band it would look more natural ??!! ...I'm gonna try it that way! p.s. I love ur content ❤️ great video!

don't burn the hair, it makes it rough and scratchy. you can trim them off with hair scissors.

I have fine hair so I'm not sure it can support the jumbo braids, but I love it. They look really good. I may give it a go anyway. 👍😋💯😃🌷💜🌻🌴

Same here... maybe also making them shorter would help so there is less weight on each section? I dunno but I'm too chicken to try it on mine. Haven't had them since relaxer days ( although they looked bomb)

Using a good edge control before snatching your hair to tie in elastic bands will make your parts look neater and makes my braids feel more secure....I finally did this last night and my hair looks so much better than usual. Great video, thank you!

my natural hair always sticks out the braid ugh
@Naptural85
@Naptural85 7 лет назад
Hey Kitten! A few tricks, twist the hair together as you braid (the natural hair INTO the synthetic hair) if that doesn't work, you can sandwich your natural hair between the synthetic hair in the section, so that the synthetic hair covers it on both sides, that way it won't be able to stick out. Hope that helps! 💗💗💗
@DanaConquersBoutique
@DanaConquersBoutique 7 лет назад
KITTEN MAYZ + when you get towards the end of your hair, add a little product (gel, cream, edge control) to it. I do that and twist my hair into the braid like Whit said. And just braid super slow at that section.

The entire concept of this video is to NOT do box braids in the traditional way with tight root grabbing. Her tutorial is SUPPOSE to look more natural and loose when they're done- why have dummy tight braids if youre going to have them in for over 3 weeks?

This tutorial gave me the inspiration to try it out. I have no girlie skills. Can't cornrow, flat twists are fuzzy, straightening takes way too long, etc. This took about 5hrs, but the result isn't terrible! If I can get 2 weeks out of this it's totally a win. Your videos have been so very informational and helpful, thank you.

@Naptural85, thank you for the excellent tutorial, using the rubber band method made doing this protective style so very easy. I am not a braider and plaits are what I do best, so I love this. A lot of the clear rubber bands broke the same night I installed them but the braids remained intact. Thanks again and keep making these wonderful videos. Blessing!!!
