Mum: *'She's very clever.'* Son: *Ohhhh, we know she's clever.* Mum: *'And THAT'S why I like her!'* *Her company, her conversation.* *Even tho' she is a bit of an oddity.'* *She's been to so many places, done so many things.'* *MOST WOMEN ARE DULL & STUUUPID!'* and I ooop😅😂 This exchange was priceless!😂
The Actress who played The Mother should get an Emmy Award (US's Highest Acting Honor) for Outstanding Guest Appearance In A Miniseries/TV Series. She doesn't mince words. She knows deep down her Son is an idiot. Kind of like how Mama Corleone felt about Fredo in The Godfather Movies.
I LOVE this scene!! Too bad Homophobic Broadcast Organization cancelled the show. They didn't promote it. Maybe they assumed they didn't need to & counted on the LGBTQ audience to support it (which they did and more would have if properly promoted.) And HBO likely was afraid of pissing off the hateful, hypocritical, bigoted right wing fascist extremists. This show was SO widely praised, had good ratings and some of the best actors working today in the cast. So there is no other reasonable explanation for the cancellation IMO. Homophobic BS Organization instead keeps funnels $$ into so many lame hetero centric shows & throwing $$ at GOT spin-offs (guaranteeing GRRM never finishes the books. ) Gentleman Jack may have been expensive but the ratings, reviews, quality and positive social impact made continuing it logical. If homophobia isn't the main reason then I suspect there is ageism at play, as well. Why cancel GJ but pay for shows like Irna Vep? HBO execs will pay for shows that have a lesbian lead but only if she's under 28 yo and she & the other young lesbians are bisexual. 🤦 old straight white male executives at HBO satisfying straight male fantasies over quality, intelligent programming. Screw HBO. I only subscribed to watch GJ, Hacks, Barry, and The Flight Attendant. Their done so cancelling HBO. I hope BBC finds a new studio partner with class, vision and integrity. (That eliminates transphobic Netflix.) AMC needs new quality programming as does Showtime.
