Lot76 Cars catches up with the legend that is Geoff Buys Cars and chats with him about his conversion to Renaults, his future road trip plans..... and could he buy even more Renaults????
The 10 is pretty rare these days, I suspect many donated their doors for Renault 8 restoration projects. The Renault Classic car club is probably a good place to start for advice in these. I'm a member of that club and the Renault owners club. The Laguna 3 coupe was always going to be a bit of a white elephant. Nice cars but probably not going to have the same sense of jeopardy for a long road trip. I actually drive from Yorkshire to Belgium and back in my 97 Mégane coupe 1.6e and it was comfortable and returned over 40 mpg. Peugeot 406 with a 3.0 V6 petro and manual gearbox is a great drive and I'm told can return 30 mog in a long run. The R11 is a car I always liked with its wrap around rear glazing. Nice meeting you yesterday all be it briefly at the end of the day.
Wow, Laguna Coupe, that's Renault's best-kept secret - had mine, the 205GT, for 15 years. The diesel is boring, and the 2L petrol has a much better gearbox. Also, don't be fearful of the 4whl steer GT, it makes long-distance driving a breeze!
