Did you choose this particular comparison just to stir up controversy? The better, more accurate comparison would be VoicePlay vs Home Free or Geoff vs Tim. Geoff arranges, records, films, produces, and edits his videos with a production team usually consisting of just him and his wife. That's it. Home Free has a producer, manager, and a film crew. Both use the fabulous Ed Boyer for final sound mixing. All four (VP, Geoff, HF, and Tim) put out wonderful music for us to enjoy, in a variety of genres and styles, in moods from make you cry to make you laugh. It's not a competition.

That’s really like comparing apples and oranges. I had hoped when you talked about Geoff’s video you would talk more about the video production. It would have been fairer (and even closer) if you had put Home Free up against VoicePlay’s latest- Christmas Don’t be late. There you would have great vocals and percussion and even more humor. But maybe you were making it easy on yourself. It would have been impossible to choose. So glad we don’t have to. We can enjoy them all!

Really hard to fairly compare Geoff's song (even given his wide vocal range) with a complete acapella group. Both are great. I love Home Free's song a bit more because of the upbeat tempo and being a song new to me.

Geoff was singing the lead more like a traditional bass... that some people would confuse as a baritone; remember, an average baritone can only get down to A2 and then it's on the breathy side. A classic, average bass will be in lower baritone range most of the time (with a stronger resonance than a baritone), giving us those notes below E2 to C2 once in awhile. Geoff does that on this, but then decides to give us notes below C2 to remind us of his true, low bass nature.

This was just so fun to watch all the background slowly appear. The look on the face of the far right is Geoff who didn't get a gift at first. Now you need to go check out VoicePlay's cover of the Chipmunk Song, Christmas Don't Be Late. Home Free is so fun. That's Austin who is taking the lead. Both groups have such a fun sense of humor. It's not far as it was one man up against 5.

Yeah you can't really compare one person to a group even with geoff's 5 octave range. It would be more accurate to compare voiceplays' chipmunk song to home free. That being said both are very good but personally i am a huge geoff fan and he is my pick, not only for the singing but the fact that he basically does the arrangements and most of the production aspects.He is very talented and driven as well as humble.

It’s a strange comparison. One person, Geoff, or a group, Home Free. There are many songs where Tim is singing by himself on his own channel like Will You Still Love Me/Stay which is excellent or do one by Geoff’s group Voiceplay vs. Home Free. I say don’t compare just enjoy. I love Home Free though. I think they are incredible. Try Mary Did You Know, Helplessly Hoping, I Can’t Outrun You, Do You Hear What I Hear. Enjoy!

A comparison should have been Voiceplay and Home Free, or Geoff and Tim. Try again with Voiceplay's Christmas Don't Be Late (Geoff's vision and arrangement) and Home Free's Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. But, since you chose to pit one against five, Geoff won the battle because he did it all. Arrangement, production, 4 separate vocals, 4 costume changes, and editing of the video - all Geoff, all the time. A Renaissance man. After the first of the year, try Tim's Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and Geoff's Shenandoah.

Although I'm very happy that you chose Home Free as the winner 😉🥰, I don't feel this is a fair "competition". 1st, most, and I say MOST, of us don't really compare the groups or individual solo works. 2nd, Tim Foust has a fairly new solo 'doo-wop' albulm out, yet only 4 videos thus far. And it's mind blowing! It's all him, all vocal. All of it. 😍🥰 (Therefore, a comparison of Geoff vs. Tim might be more equal. Or the groups) 3rd, ptx & Home Free have covered a few of the same songs.... that would be an absolute fair comparison. 4th, Geoff has a video of Mele Kalikimaka that is so good!! Geoff Castellucci hands down. Love his voice. And he was very upbeat. Was very Christmas like too. While Home Free is good I don't care for country music. Just a bunch of guys getting together on any day of any week. Also... Why are you comparing a group to a person? And a new video to a year old one? You should be comparing similar songs. Like Voiceplay's Christmas song last year to home Free. Or both from this year. Single to single. Group to group. Holiday to holiday.

Home Free has been doing this longer than some reactors have been alive. For me, what they bring to the table, is a refined sound that is beautiful, complex, and so seamless that you can listen to a few songs and totally forget they are a cappella. Voiceplay, to me, is moving in that direction but still tends to lean heavily on certain members (Geoff). When it comes to solo work, much like the difference in the two groups, Geoff is more about shock value (and I love it) while Tim is a bit more subtle and might even bump some of the complexity up even if Tim loves to shock with his range. Most of Geoff's great solo songs are 4 or 5 part harmonies along with some instrumentation. That plays very well into his multi-geoff videos that are so fun. Tim may only bring in 4 harmonies but they are so layered that filming with multiple Tim's doesn't make as much sense. I don't know. I love them both but in this specific case, it's hard for a solo artist to beat a refined group.

The only fair comparison is Voiceplay vs Homefree....group vs group and/ or Geoff vs Tim as solo artists. Now, having said that, its not a competition, but it is fun to see everyone come out and defend their favorite....LOL I personally prefer Geoff and Voiceplay, but that takes nothing away from HomeFree. Each group has songs they knock out of the park, others not so much. But, it all comes down to what you like. I'm going to just enjoy all of them and great music by super talented people. Rob really does wail. This song is a huge vocal instrument demo of "horns", "guitar" along with percussion. I have to give it to HF, but seems unfair one (however gorgeous) guy vs five! I like Geoff's baritone best, vs his bass or tenor, but they are all beyond impressive.

I don't know where the house exterior is but the interior is Austin's house (it's in their "quarantine" series) - the dogs are those of him & his lady Amberly. The pit bull is Titus and the little dog is Kota (Koda?). Home Free did a version of "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" as well.

Rob's voice IS fantastic. And no matter how silly their videos, the vocals/percussion is ALWAYS exquisite. And I felt Geoff's LOW notes were a bit off at times. He does put a lot of work into his videos - nothing to take away from there, I just felt he was a bit off at times.

I like Home Free but its Geoff for me all the way I also agree that its hard to compare the 2 perhaps a whole acapella group, perhaps Voiceplay's Chipmunk song would be a better compare and contrast? Also with Home Free's version its super upbeat where Geoffs is slower. But the fact that he can compete as a single person is what sways me towards Geoff. The vocals and visuals in his rendition of White Christmas took so much work and creativity.

This is hard... like comparing apples to oranges. Home Free is my choice because of the different singers harmonizing. Although Geoff and those that do a one-man a cappella videos amaze me with the editing needed to put their videos together. That said, I think it would of been better to pit Geoff Castellucci vs Jarod Halley because their a cappella styles in their videos are similar. Then pit Home Free with Pentatonix or Voiceplay. BTW. I noticed you haven't reacted to Home Free "The Butts Remix" as of yet. Jeff, Thanks again for the shoutout at the end. Have a great Christmas.

I love both but i have to say that Geoff is my choice. Home free is awesome & always brings a great vibe to their music & their shows are just as much fun. But Geoff brings so much to his videos even tho he is just one person he brings such a rich full bodied sound to all his videos. If you want to see what i mean then watch last years christmas video God rest ye merry gentlemen by him & you will see what i mean. Def the Geoffs for me

Home Free all the way on this one. But... this isn't really a balanced competition. I was expecting a head to head between Geoff and Tim solo. Pitting solo Geoff against a full group doesn't seem fair. Maybe you should try again with Tim's version of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow and one of Geoff's solo pieces, maybe even this same one. I would be interested to see that.

I think that would have been a better comparison -- pitting group vs group, silliness vs silliness. Plus my problem with Geoff, here and in a couple other songs is several times the thought comes up if he really had to take that word or this series of notes and go so low on them. It seems unnecessary, like he's just showing off his range. Doesn't make me love him any less, it just annoys me a bit.

I have to agree with many of the others. Both were awesome, but not the best comparison, a soloist to a group. Tim’s new all him, all a cappella Doo Wop album, Pieces of Me is amazing. I think he has released 3 or four videos along with the entire audio of the entire album. Next time, compare two groups instead one individual who’s doing everything on his own vs a group. You can’t compare them. My vote goes to Geoff all the way because he played himself all the parts while home free had someone on each part.

Not sure it is a fair comparison. One lone Geoff against Home Free. I like both though I am more of a fan of Home Free though there are some things that Geoff has done solo I absolutely love (Monster Mash anyone?) And yes, it is quite amazing that Geoff can do it all. So I broke it down - Video and music separately - for video, while Home Free's made me giggle (and who doesn't love a shot of dogs), Geoff's video work was impressive to me. What he did is a time consuming process and I always appreciate it. Music wise - knowing that Geoff is perfectly capable of doing masterful layering and mixing, I have to give it to Home Free. The upbeat tempo, the percussion and Rob slayed this song!! This song tends to have me dancing around the house. Love them both though.

I love all, but Geoff gets down to a growl which does not sound very Christmasy. Watching Geoff is like a "WHAT?". I like his higher ranges. Now Rob Millie this one just like he owned End of the Road. The Ruppster does no wrong. If I listened on repeat it definitely would be Home Free! Have you listened to Tim doing his solo all acapella work? He knocks those Doo Woo song out of the park -- Home run every time!

what a strange combination to compare. why didn't you compare a Voice Play Christmas song with Home Free? that would have made more sense. comparing a self harmonising/layering Bass singer with a full fledged acapella group is like comparing Apples to Oranges. we all know Voice play has an amazing library of Christmas songs to choose from too, Edit: and after now reading a few comments, glad I wasn't the only one lol

I appreciate the Christmas theme, but it's not exactly a fair comparison. A whole group of diverse talent vs 1 guy being his own group. Home Free as a group is definitely better than Geoff. He is extremely talented, but it's far more fair to do Voiceplay vs Home Free if anything. I pit artists against each other all the time and I usually try for the same song even if it's different styles so at least you're starting at the same point. But this is mostly VP fans vs Home Free fans in the comments.

Keeping with the theme, you could have chosen Tim's lead on Snowglobe, or shared lead on O Holy NIght, to make it more of a bass off. I'm very grateful for both HF and VP making my Christmas bright, in any case.

this is a flawed comparison....try reacting to Tim Foust's cover of the Beach Boys "In My Room" and then you can talk apples to apples. I have watched videos of both Geoff & Tim and what strikes me as a major difference is that Geoff many many times drops those real low bass notes just to show off and that they really don't fit the song he is singing whereas Tim will usually only go real low if the song actually calls for it and it makes sense.

I actually like it when reactors compare performances, but if you're going to compare two, at least choose the same song. Home Free has done their version of White Christmas. That would be a better comparison. I see no reason why you can't like both. I myself don't care for super low bass singing just to show how low you can sing. It sounds too heavy to me. I love Home Free's lighter approach. I wouldn't eat the cookies. I hope the dog doesn't get sick. Rob's performance in this is fabulous. He is a chameleon vocally and can adjust to any genre.

I prefer Home Free..Geoff is an amazing vocalist but in my opinion whether it’s with Voice Play or solo, he seems to “show boat” his bass voice by dropping extremely low whether it’s appropriate for the song or not. I know his fans love that, which is great but it takes me out of the moment and affects my opinion of the song. Great respect for HF and Geoff’s talent though!❤🤗

I choose Home Free! Geoff is very talented and I appreciate his creativity. However, I think he sometimes overdoes the super low notes. Both in his personal and Voice Play music. Don't get me wrong, I love a good bass as much as anyone. I just don't think it belongs in every song. It takes away from the times that it truly fits. Home Free is just the more well rounded "group" in this battle. I feel the same way about Home Free vs Voice Play in general as well. Great reaction and Merry Christmas! 🎄💖

I don't get this. Why do you want to compere an acapella group to a soloist with a instrumental band? If you want a campetition, chose something from Voiceplays reportoire. Just saying! BTW - Geoff is the sh..!

While both songs are great, they each have their own goal with it. Geoff is specifically singing it as a Superbass and so it's not as "natural" for me whereas HF tends to sing the song as it sounds best, not trying to put super high or super low sounds in (however they do have some they do that with). That is a turn off for me in general. So that's why I picked HF's song.

I genuinely don't get the point of comparing two artists like this, especially when one's a solo artist producing/arranging/performing alone and on his own dime and the other's a full group with an entire production team. I see I'm not alone in that thought in the comments here. Besides, most people watching already have their own favourites and aren't going to pick a side objectively. Not going to be any unbiased debates. It just feels disrespectful to the artists to do comparison videos. I normally enjoy your commentary and analyses, but I'm not a fan of this format at all.

Thank you for providing your input and feedback on this video. Yes, I've also read the comments of viewers stating they haven't been fans of this type of reaction format. But it is something I am going to be experimenting with. I do agree with viewers that the groups I compared in this video was unfair, but again, I consider this video an experiment. I personally don't find this type of reacting format disrespectful, but rather a friendly competition/comparison. Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion, and I'm just simply stating mine on this channel.
