@otaama: I had the Motif XS7 (76 keys) for 6 months, and didn't like it too mouch, so I sold it and bought a PC3. In my opinion, the PC3 sounds way better than any Yamaha I hav used. The XS is (in many ways) easier to use than the Kurzweil, but it's sounds are better. It even beats my OASYS-88 in some deparments :-)
@dragonsagoth666 Not quite. The PC3X also has user samples u can burn to internal ROM (no need to load samples into RAM upon power-on). Only the X series can do this.
Pro!s: Excellent demo! Excellent musicianship!! Excellent sounds!!! Con: Keep the sounds and sequencer/recorder, and give me the controller! I NEED a weighted 88-key controller with wheels and aftertouch BADLY!! Pleeeezzz, Kurz, we NEED it!!
Hmm.. Would really like to know if they're up to a new workstation. Maybe in few years. :) I recently bought Korg m50 cause I didn't have much money and our band is just developing. But I might buy a new workstation in about 3 years. And I gotta say. The idea of an up to date Kurzweil workstation sounds quite tempting! :P
Nice feature how you can have all those instruments for access across the keyboard at once. How many sounds can you have at once across the keyboard?? That is a nice features I don't think the Kronos can do. Can you do a smooth transition from one sound to another without any loss of sound of the first sound when the second one comes in.
There are some great sounds - I agree with that. Same time, you get tricked a bit by Gee's skills, wich hides the fact that a lot of the sounds are kind of "dead" theres not a kind of warmth that I'm looking for. Ok no line in - direct sound, but still Spectacular, yes.
They do. However the sweetwater piano sound sets are geared for the Kurzweils and are stellar. My opinion on buying a Kurzweil that uses VAST is that if you are looking for good stock patches buy a Roland with Supernatural. If you like to have an unlimited programming platform buy a Kurzweil.
During the 80's & 90's, Kurzweil made very innovative, advanced & elite products. At 1 time that had the best pianos sounds available. But the PC3X seems a bit dated IMO, like something from 2001-2005 or so. The piano sounds on my Korg Kronos X are totally unbelievable. Each note has 8, velocity sensitive multi-samples + damper effects & more. Also, large, touch sensitive, color displays are the norm now, but Kurzweil is still using plain LCD that is relatively small by today's standards.
I recently bought one. It has a ton of vintage keyboard and synth patches. I'd use a small PA over an amp - I'm assuming you mean like a guitar amp. I'd ask a keys guy in a music shop for that kind of advice.
Magnífico sonido sin duda es como estar tocando un piano de cola yo tengo un pc3le8 y la verda estoy muy complacida con este maquinon kurzweil sin duda lo mejor en worstation
With a difference. If you study, practice, practice and practice, you will never be beautiful and well-dressed. You CAN however become a good keyboard player. What I meant is that people so often think they "only" have to buy this keyboard to be able to do the same thing the guy did in the demo.
@alphasxsignal pc3x has been discontinued as the whole pc3 series, the reason is logical, cause kurzweil made pc3k models, they are the same and pc3 but with flash memory that lets you load up to 128 mb of samples in it and when you turn the kurz off, samples still remain inside and you dont have to load them, so basic difference is that pc3k models have sampling option and old pc3 models dont have, but i have pc3x and im very happy with it, very powerfull workstation with great sounds
What do you play this through, it looks like a PA System? If I were to use an amplifier to play this through, what would you recommend? It sounds pretty impressive, but was hard to hear with all the background noise. What does it have for old keyboards sounds? Does it have Farfisa, Vox, and B3 organs? plus drawbars? And Leslie?
Does someone know if Kurzweil is up to some new workstation?? Ofc this is awesome instrument but SOME things are a bit outdated. :F Would be great to see a new Kurz synth.
what should I buy?? really need help! a Kurzweil K2000 V3 A KORG Z1 with pcmcia card = more sounds) or A YAMAHA DX7 I need answers as soon as possible;)
Have you checked out the Korg Kronos X? I've always been a "Korg Man". (Poly 800, M1, M1Rex/(T1), O1/W, Triton ProX & now Kronos X 88) In a word, the Kronos is "AMAZING". I also have a Yamaha MO6 & A Roland XV5080, which has many of the sounds of the Fantom G. I love Roland (I have Alpha Juno, W30, JV1010) & Korg, but my recommendation is in NO way biased. The Kronos is incredible. I can't really think of much more I'd want or expect in a keyboard. The Kronos is a near perfect instrument.
Is there going to be a new Kurzweil coming out??? Im looking to buy a new Keyboard system. Ive looked at Kronos,Jupiter 80,Pa3X and some others. This PC3X has been out for a while and there should be a upgrade with this I would think soon. Should I wait and if I didn't and Kurzweil comes out with a new model real soon will I get a upgrade discount on the new model.
L'ho preso da Merula a Roreto di Cherasco, in Provincia di Cuneo. Ahhhh no ma era 1590€, non 1350€, mi sono sbagliato. C'era qualcosa che non mi quadrava in effetti.
Somebody please tell me I'm gonna buy a synthesizer which is best? 1. Motif xs8 2. Yamaha s90XS 3. Kurweil PC3X I know the motif is the best but how do the other 2 compare
I love the guy's playing. It's effortless and fluent :D While it's true that you need a definite amount of skill to play it the way he does, I've found learning with better tools improves both the learning and experience quality. This tool, also, is likely targeted at professional musicians, so you know.. Skill is kinda assumed with these products.
I find it humorous that Kurzwell creates all of those symphonic patches to use as demos. They should spend a little more time improving the dated sounds hat they still use. Some are still relevant, other should be completely overhauled.
Respond to this video... also you can find some pc3x at lower prices now in some stores cause they try to rid of them so they could have room for pc3k models or used pc3 models...trust me you will not be dissapointed with kurzweil they did great job with whole pc3 series, and they will soon throw out new ROM card with new sounds for pc3 and pc3k models...and they have many more tricks but those will be revealed when they make new k3000 model, and that will be a really mighty beast.
Kronos and now the X is hard to beat and its getting better by the month with new third party sounds coming out every month. Tons of companies jumping on the band wagon like they do with Yamaha motif stuff. You need third party companies if you want to be better and Kurzweil is hurting in that world of third party companies. Thats why I choose Kronos
Yeah I could see that. I bought this keyboard and returned it not too long ago. not only the sounds but the construction is cheaply put together.. a lot of ground hum which made for a nasty output. It's definitely time to upgrade there technology if they wanna stay in the runnings.
uh, no it doesn't. As a controller this kicks the Motif's ass. I work in a music store and gigged with a Motif ES8 and while it was a nice self contained unit, it did not have controller features that the Kurzweil has. And the PC3X has a better feeling keyboard for multiple instrument playing techniques. finally, its orchestral soundblock kills the Korg M50, Yammy S90SX or Motif SX, etc. Kurzweil makes the best keyboards dude.
hi.... i need.. to know how do i do to send midis from pc to he keyboard..... do i need some software???...... more over i wanna know if this xD card ... is a simple type of card xD, or is it special???..... i have one of 1 gb of memory, can i use it????
i own the 700gx , you can view it in action in my videos, but honestly the sounds are horrible. i played the kurzweil and it blew me away the only thing that the roland does better is the keybed, thats it
@alphasxsignal You can layer and/or split up to 16 sounds in a Setup. Kronos can do the same. Smooth sound transition is done in some cases only, Kronos does that better. But PC3 is better built than Kronos! ;)
why do you feel the need to express your opinions with the f-bomb? In the end, they are just your opinions. I don't see the Motif in Jordan Rudess' set up and he's one of the most gifted keyboardists around. I do see Kurzweil products in more set ups than the Motif (which I am actually not knocking- I like it but I prefer the editing and synth architecture of the Kurzweil more). Wendy Carlos has tons of Kurzweil's and she's one of the forefathers of electronic music.
