I’m not Pakistani but find Pakistan fascinating. I think culturally it punches above its weight when it comes to music, fashion, language, food, design as it blends elements of the east and west so well. However it fails to reach its own potential and could be so much more if it was able to address its own issues and challenges

Just wanted to tell you few things about Pakistan which you missed such as Pakistan has the world's 2nd tallest mountain K2 , Pakistan is world's 7th Nuclear Power County , We are the pioneers of world's most oldest civilization which Indus Valley Civilization , We produce more then 50% of footballs / Soccer balls of the world plus footballs used in previous 3 FIFA world Cup were made in Pakistan , We have World's most deepest seaport in the world which is in city of Gawadar in Balochistan province , we have world's 2nd biggest salt mine , we have also been in war with India 4 times since Independence , we have Asia's second biggest graveyard and also Moenjo Daro the oldest UNESCO site which predates Pyramid of Egypt . One more thing which you completely missed was the few major celebrities which you couldn't recognise and was shocker to me for example there was Atif Aslam one of the biggest singer we have even you heard his song Go and Sajan das na from coke studio . My family would fall under the category of Other/Muhajir- my grandparents immigrated from India to Pakistan during the Partition (my parents then immigrated to the US). I am surprised to learn Muhajir are such a small minority in Pakistan! I still have distant relatives in India, as I’m sure many Muhajir families do. Also, Hindi and Urdu speakers can understand each other for the most part, but Urdu takes some vocabulary from Arabic and Persian and is written in Persian script.

Hey Jim, you knew another one of the singers, Atif Aslam. He was in the song Go of Coke Studio Season 14 that you covered. Also, to answer your question, I’m a Punjabi 🤘. But it doesn’t matter to me because we are Pakistanis first and Punjabis later. Actually, I’m a dual national so I take pride in both countries I belong to… I loved that you took a deep dive into learning about Pakistan. I wasn’t expecting it actually. That’s pretty admirable. If you want to see the food videos, you have to watch the foreign famous travellers / food enthusiasts who visit other countries and try their cuisines. One of the people whose series actually went viral for Pakistani food is Mark Wiens and the way he brought light to Pakistani hospitality and cuisine from different regions, nobody else did. He’s one awesome narrator for sure and a foodie at heart hehe. He’s got a whole playlist .. first video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7mIzRYh8jGA.html I was raised knowing 4 languages. My mom knows 7. So I feel like I don’t know enough and should have learned more. It’s pretty common there. The one thing that I feel sad about it country’s literacy and poverty levels. That’s where improvement is required. However, the hearts are big and the warmth is never ending. Even a poor guy who barely makes anything selling street food in the market is generous enough to give a freebie of food item to any foreigner visiting as we treats guests impeccably well. You can spend a night hungry but if there’s a guest at home, you better make sure that he gets fed over yourself. That’s the hospitality there. Islam is the predominant religion. While the people of India and Pakistan share similar (not same) culture, I do have to disagree that Urdu and Hindi are the same languages but different in scripts only and some words being borrowed from Persian and Arabic for Urdu. I have got enough linguistic background to understand that both languages are starkly different in their roots. Yes, they have many “similar words” but the dialects, scripts, linguistic roots and the etiquettes going in their speech are quite different. Hindi comes from the old ancient language Sanskrit & Prakrit, Urdu literally drives it’s origin from Persian and Arabic. Hindi had borrowed some Persian words too but not a direct descendant of it. Even though both kind of speakers can understand each other well, the etiquettes of speech is very unique to both languages. Anyhow, amongst the regional languages, Punjabi is the predominant language. You have seen a few songs in Punjabi language in your review of Coke Studio Season 14 songs such as Pasoori, Thagiyaan, Nerey Nerey Vas, etc. Other songs there like the song Go, Phir Milenge, Ye Dunya, were primarily in Urdu and English mixed in them. Hope this helps. The only way to experience Pakistan is to visit it. You should totally check out FTD facts videos about Pakistan. You will gain more understanding about Pakistan from it. I’ll leave some links here for u in case you are interested..😊

I'm a Karachiite, from Sindh. Ethnically,our ancestors migrated from India's Delhi when Pakistan gained independence on 14th August 1947. But I, like my fellow Pakistanis, don't identify by our ethnicity, but our religion, Islam, as that is what Pakistan is made for. That is what makes us distinct from India, our religion, Islam. We're all Pakistanis and muslims. And the non muslims here are our Pakistani brothers and sisters as well. Our flag represents both muslims and non muslims in its green and white colour. We're very proud of our religion Islam and try to follow it and get close to God.

I am not sure if you have noticed it or not, but the "Geography Now" episode on Pakistan was a hastily put together piece with lots of errors and subtle insults and sarcasms thrown in. Makes sense because that "Geography Now" guy is staunch Indian supporter. For example, Hasaini Bridge (the dangerous bridge) is not located in Punjab, but Northern Pakistan. Pakistanis took millions of Afghan refugees not just because of "terrorist conflicts", but because of Russia's invasion of Afghanistan which started in 1980s.

I'm Punjabi because my parents come from the Punjab region(specifically Lahore) and can speak Punjabi as well as Urdu. But the thing is Punjabi is more of a culture/language identity, there's alot of mixing of ethnicities here so some Punjabis really have Pashtun or Sindhi ancestry or mix of them. That's probably why some people in my family look like they could be Persian or Afghan and others look more like northwestern Indians. I guess it's like how a lot of people in england are actually descended from the scotts/irish but they are culturally british. But the difference is here you can easily tell some people look more Iranic or more similar to Indians. Either way we're all Punjabis now. It's just alot of diversity in general. My dad moved here to get his masters degree in Computer Engineering at Syracuse in the 80's(he saw Back to the Future in the cinemas and went to watch it a second time immediately after it finished lol). He always tells me about 1985 being the best year for music and alot of other stuff. And then he married my mom back in Pakistan and came back to the US to settle in California, and that's how I started existing.

Hey Jim!!! Really enjoyed watching your reaction to my country. I'm from Karachi, Pakistan and I'm a Balouchi Khan. You should totally look into more things pertaining to Pakistan because we're nothing like the stereotypical stuff showcased in movies and TV shows in the west. Lots of youtubers have visited and done travel vlogs you can check those out too. A very important food item missing from that video is Biryani, Karachi has the best Biryani ever. If you ever plan to visit do visit Karachi. It's the cosmopolitan city. Best months to visit Karachi and tour Sindh are November and December the weather not as hot. Look into ShahJehan Mosque, you'll love the architecture. It has a 93 domes and it's an architectural master piece from the Mughal Era. We have lots of food streets too. Pakistan street food like bun kebab, pani poori, chaat etc are chef's kiss. I mean there's so much really. We're very hospitable people and you're always welcome 🙏 🤗 it was refreshing to see someone from the US react to the video.

I'm Punjabi and live in Gujranwala city of Punjab province. Born in Sialkot city and lived for almost 5 years there. Then moved to the neighbouring city Gujranwala. I can speak 4 languages: Urdu, Punjabi, Saraiki and English

Currently i live near Islamabad Federal Capital. I belong to Punjabi family, my dad being a banker used to live in all four provinces near provincial capitals, like Quetta (capital of Balochistan province), Peshawar (provincial Capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shortly named KPK) and Karachi (capital of Sindh Province). He also resided in Lahore as well (biggest cultuaral city in Pakistan and capital of Punjab province as well). Naturally we are able to speak and understand all four languages such as Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi and Balochi. National language is Urdu but to your surprise Pakistan's medium of education is in English language. Don't get confused. It's bascially because of British colonials who ruled for 200 years in India-Pakistan.

Hi, Saraiki here 👋, from Southern Punjabi. And about " how do you communicate with each other ?" 😂😂😂 I really don't know how but I literally know I know almost 5 languages and I can Guess other languages bcz if Urdu itself is a mixture of many languages. We can find alot of similar words in Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Hindi Btw I can Urdu • Speak • understand • read • write English • understand • speak • read • write (still struggling with punctuation & some Grammer though) Saraiki • Speak • Understand ° never tried to write it ( bcz never needed to write ¿ It might have a same script as Urdu) Hindi • understand (bcz of watching Indian dramas) • Speak ( it's almost the same as Urdu) ° Can't read the script or write it. Punjabi • understand • read ° can't speak or write it This is me 😂 most of Pakistanis can understand eachother's language easily

Hi Jim thank you for an awesome reaction video.. I'm from Lahore but in Canada for many years.. I can best describe the place as multi color pallet of not only different skin but also different languages we have regional languages + urdu + english Tomorrow is 14th August 75th anniversary of Pakistan but full history goes back 1000s of years.. always been on cross roads of civilizations.. wish we had our own civilization other than indus civilization only those guys were OG they started around 3400-3200 BCE and vanished around 1900 BCE
@TheKayani

One thing that he mentioned but didnt give detail about is that Pakistan is the area where worlds first civilization was born The indus valley civilization They existed before pyramids around 5000 years ago According to archeologist they were the supepower of there era as they had paved streets and sewerage system that resembles modern times According to research they were the first CIVILIZED people

By Blood I am Kashmiri, But when Pakistan was established, Because of the Indian army attacks my Grandfather left Indian-occupied Kashmir and moved to Lahore city which is in Pakistan, Punjab. So I fall into two categories I can say I am Kashmiri and Punjabi as well. I was born and raised in Lahore. Man, I suggest, If you ever visit Pakistan, you must visit Lahore because It's Pakistan's most famous city with the most famous and delicious food and a lot of amazing places to visit here. You should also visit the Capital city Islamabad because Islamabad is called the world's second most beautiful capital city after London. and lastly, don't miss northern Pakistan because rich in its nature. 🍁

Been to the wagah border ceremony a couple of times, it's actually crazy... There's indians on the other side there's pakistani's on the pakistani side. our armies both lower their flags shouting and stamping there feet in the flag lower ceremony and it's like a mock battle of sorts, who can stamp the hardest and who can shout the loudest during the ceremony. Both indians and pakistani audiences from the stands add to the noise, it's literally the noisiest border flag lowering ceremony in the world in my opinion. Almost feels like the last over of a cricket tournament final between india and pakistan considering how loud the people get on both sides. It's all good fun tho. You can also get a lot of souviners from that border. And any indian travellers to pakistan or vice versa actually travel through that border when it's open for travel between the countries. As far as what feelings Pakistanis have toward Indians and vice versa... There's tons of youtube channels that explore this where a pakistani would dress up and present as an indian and get a reaction out of pakistanis and indian youtubers do the same thing. we're generally very congenial toward each other and most of that has to do with the fact that Urdu and Hindi are mostly by almost 80% the same language, to the point that Indians can all easily watch Pakistani dramas and understand 100% of what's being said and we can watch Bollywood movies and understand 100% of what's being said. So yeah... We aren't as cut-throat towards each other as some might have you believe, however the internet is the internet and the comments section on youtube where there are extremist pakistani and indians will surely be 100% lit at all times... :D Oh speaking of how similar indians and pakistanis are... The typical insult is Motherfucker or SisterFucker in both countries and the same words are used to say these insults in urdu and hindi... Madarchod and Bhenchod Respectively... just thought i'd throw that out there.. :D

The secret of the Hunza people is Apricot and Figs.... They eat em with everything even the savory foods, Apricot oil is also a mainstay of Hunzai food, I've been to the Hunza valley quite a few times, and I have to say their old people can beat young people anywhere in athletics... Not to many cars in Hunza as well, barely any air pollution to the point the air feels very very different compared to metropolitan cities like karachi where I'm from... Also a thinner atmosphere, they are like 2.5k meters above sea level and when you are in the hunza valley, there's literal mountains on all sides... If you are not suited to cold climates NEVER GO THERE IN THE WINTER... you are likely to freeze your ass off... but honestly it's one of the most beautiful sceneries you will ever see in your life.. Just google pictures of hunza valley in autumn and hunza valley in winter and you'll see.. Tons of rivers, lakes and just all around stunning scenery. Heaven for high altitude trekkers and mountain climbers.. You can't throw a stone without hitting a peak you might want to scale.
