Not only that Romanians of today are not environmentally conscious (my grandparents were) but it's even worse than that, littering the parks, river banks, lakes, green pastures, mountain slopes, etc, is done ON PURPOSE. You say it like you were proud of Romania. The truth is, most of these geniuses lived or studied in foreign countries (mostly France). Romania never gave a shit about scientists, that's why everybody moved abroad if they wanted success.
@@kronks6262 The fact that Romania didn't have so many resources at their disposition, like laboratories or universities doesn't mean that those famous scientists didn't like their country. They were still romanian or of romanian origin and they left, because they had no other choice, kind of sad.
Transylvania means “The country beyond the forest” (latin) and afaik the hungarian name is Ardeal/Erdely (?). I’ve never heard it called Szekely country before, Szekely is a common hungarian family name😲 Also, not all our weddings are crazy lol, those traditions are usually more frequent in rural areas, the rest of us stick to a civil ceremony+church wedding and a reception after. Fun to watch though PS Moldova and Moldavia are the same historical region/province but the former Soviet Union decided to take half of it just because. PPS “Salina Turda” is essentially a salt mine, very picturesque and not the only one, “salina” literally means salt mine. If you ever do visit, include few famous caves in your itinerary for sure
The now region called "Transilvania" was called Sekely wich actualy was a country before Austro-Hungaria and then Romania occupied . Sekely was a country since 368 AD - 1867 , with mixed etnities , Hungarians , Tracs , Daci (Romanians) , Gypsies , Macedonians . They had their own language and mixed culture . When the Austro-Hungarian formed its united empire in 1867 , they conquerd it , as many other regions from various countries from their neighbours . Sekely was a very similar language to the Hungarians and they shared many traditions . However it was never originaly theirs as they claim it nowdays . After World War 1 ended in 1918 Queen Maria went to Versailles , France and asked for the new region called Transilvania and Moldavia to be part of Romania , in exchange for alliance . In 1918 Romania was extended like never before and recognized world wide as a country since 1922 , and since then its theirs . Not a precise date but aproximately from the 1960's Hungarians ploted for a coup d'eta to reunite Transilvania to Hungary , since then it never ended . Even I , in middle school felt the hatered from them , in 2003 . Hungary brainwashes the people living in this regions , more than 90% of them forgot their true etnity and culture , they now call themselves Hungarians blocked in a foreign country whom stole their lands , called Romania . Bu this is just bullshit . Hungary doesen't even care of the regions people , they care only for the land wich has many resources and a great amount of cultural values . It's a "cold war" going around here . But some people started to change . Theres so many things I could talk about . But I wrote enough . Maybe too much so you can get bored maybe . Sorry 😅
@@ulqviorra Interesting fact. The Hungarian government is investing a lot of money in Transylvania, even in infrastructure. For exemple: The railroad between Budapest and Cluj-Napoca, The Motorway between Budapest and Oradea, a lot of historical building in Transylvania are being renovated with money from Hungary, football academies, educational system (Hungarian language teaching schools). Although they seem to forget about poor communities. Investments are made in large cities. They probably want them to be poor just to make more noise.

Strigoi is not a vampire, it represent an evil soul of someone who died, it raises from its grave and takes a form of an animal or creature and it haunts the living. So it kind of similar to a zombie but not quite.
Maybe you use strigoi to refer to vampires but it refers to a damned soul and can be used for undead aswell. So technically neither vampire nor zombie.

The Snakes' Island was not regained in 2009, it is not part of today's Romania. At Haga both of the contestants/claimers, Ukraine and Romania, gave up the right to extract their territories' gas to foreign companies. What you said is not correctly called ''as a fact'', but ''as a fwcked''.
1.We don't have such a highway network, we just hope for one like this for many years. 2. We are called just"români" not "roma". We have some special letters hard to pronounce by english people. 3. Gypsy are also called ROMI ori RROMI, this etymology bring this confusion. Gypsy are stateless! 4. Try to visit Transylvania area because you will have much more to visit here.
You have a lot to visit in Moldova as well, but of course no one cares about it. It's like Transylvania is the centre of the Universe. You have a lot to visit in the whole country, in fact many known objectives are not even in Transylvania.
If you go to Romania, you have to visit Vallachia! Us Czech Vallachians kinda come from there and the culture is hella beautiful, so if you like Czechia you should definitely visit the Romanian Vallachia!

kidnapping ..is just some ppl taking bride during wedding..at 00:00 .. taking her to clubs for fun and drinks ..after they return to the wedding asking bridegroom something in exchange for the bride..sometimes is bottles of whiskey sometimes.. asking bridegroom to perform something like singing..or whatver they have in mind :)
Hello from Romania!!! I really appreciate the effort you guys put in making this video, great job! ... If I can only correct you in one matter... Iași is the second largest city after Bucharest and not Cluj Napoca (but both are undoubtedly gorgeous cities). And, while you may think our national costumes resemble the Balcanic ones (though Balcanic is such a general notion) you should know that most of the motifs used in decorating the traditional clothes and the handmade carpets and towels, etc, were transmitted from our ancestors, the Dacians, since 2000 years ago. So, while you may think we barrowed many things from our neighbours (which in some cases is true - we took the best and made it better 🤣🤣🤣 like the case of sarmale 😜) we also preserved for hundreds of years traditions and symbols that only here you can find. Keep up with the good work and good luck!!!
When accounting invasion attempts to Romania, Moldova doesn't count. We Moldavians are ethnic Romanians. We live in two states because of our "friends" which occupied 50% of Moldova (eastern half) in 1812 and started colonizing foreign populations among us. When we corrected this, in 1918, the "friends" were not happy so they arranged with Hitler (Ribbentrop-Molotov) to break Moldova again in a Romanian half and a Soviet quarter (plus another quarter given to Ukraine).
The thing is that Moldova never tried to take over any part of Romania(Since Romania is made of 3 parts and they once were unified and Romanian Moldova and Republic of Moldova were the same country "Moldova/Moldavia"), but the saying comes from the time when Romania was stuck between the Russian Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire and Ottoman empire from direction. By the saying, I am referring to "Romania's only friend is the Black Sea".

Living in romania is actually pretty cheap, we moved to Belgium for more opportunities and I think that's what most romanians seek, I sure hope a lot of them go back and establish jobs in romania because it is a good hot spot for business, but people want to get wealthier by moving to a other country usually in the west of europe or even russia

The hungarians are not Attila's descendants! They are not huns. This was like a medieval myths they used to establish a bigger name for them. They might use the name Attila but they are not huns. Their ancestors were called magyars(the original ones). An uralic people which migrated from their lands.

The "kidnapping of the bride" is now just done for fun. The bride will go with some friends and just party or take photos for like 1- 2h at midnight. In the past it was serious . Men would actualy kidnap a girl they like It was a way to force a marriage . Sometimes it was voluntary if the parents did not agree to the man the girl loved she would run away with him.
Actually Vlad Țepeș was reqlly harsh în his time and it is said that in his time nobody would steal. Because he was like this the people were calling him Vlad Dracul (în English would similar to Satan) so now many people actually think he was a vampire and just call him Dracula.

Romanians also invented the first airplane! But people don’t know that unfortunately.. we also invented the pen 🖊 lol. The history behind Dracula goes so much deeper. He actually used to kill criminals. Not so much just anyone. He would also “spill” their blood and drink it because he thought it would keep him younger. But also to teach people a lesson to keep crime on the low. People just gave him that name and it kept going.

The bride kidnapping is just a very fun tradition and it's a way to show that the man really loves the woman by rescuing here... I can't imagine what happens if the bride isn't rescued
These Bride-Kidnapping tradition we have also in parts of Germany. The Bride is "Kidnapped" by some guests of the Wedding (often the marriage witness) and the groom has to find her. The Bride and the "Kidnapper" are somewhere in a bar / Restaurant and at the end, when the groom found his bride, he has to pay the bill to get his bride back.
Many People believe that Dracula,, Vlad Țepeș '' lived in Transylvania in Bran Castle but that is not how he reigned in Vallachia! I live Maramures, where is the Merry Cemetery and I love my country! ✌️
The region near the Black Sea is called Dobrogea . Romanians are latin because the land it ocupies now was part of the Roman Empire. There used to be 3 kingdoms Tara Romaneasca ( Muntenia ) the South , Transilvania and Moldova. Dobrogea became part of Otoman Empire. Moldova kingdom included the romanian region of Moldova , some teritory part now of Ucraine and most of Republic of Moldova. First Moldova and Muntenia united then Dobrogea was added when Otoman Empire lost what we call the Independence War. After the WW1 Transilvania united . Russia took by force part of Moldova region after WW2 .
What is now known as the republic of Moldova was actually part of romania before it was forcibly taken from us by Russia I recommend watching mark wiens' series on romanian food, if you're curious about that aspect of Romania. As to the bride kidnapping, not sure how that started but it's normally friends that take her away and one of them negotiates with the groom on a "price" to get her back.

We didn't come uo with i sulin, we discovered it. It is made by the pancreas. We also were the father of modern aviation (Henri Coandă and Aurel Vlaicu). Henri Coandă also invented the reaction engine found on today's commercial planes (of course it has evolved a lot). You asked if anyone lived in the Snake Island. Yes, but it's mostly military staff. Ukraine actually created banks, etc there, so they could support their claim to the land. In fact in the 90's they didn't want the island, but at some point because of local sea explorations that discovered oil in the area they did not want to give the area to Romania. There were discussions about this. In fact Romania was able to hide the fact that there was oil there, as they knew this since Romania was kingdom, so pre WW2, when it was part of Romania territory. There aren't anymore snakes on this island as the soviet army eradicated them; the species there was not poisonous.
Roma the capital of Italy is the gypsies land. Ukraine has not won anything because the maritime oil area of the Snake Island belongs to Romania. There are several international airports. They are not Slavic religious buildings, they are Byzantine. Romania was later accepted into the European Union because it had much more industry competing the rest of the European countries and it had to be destroyed first. And so on.
We also invented the jet engine, the ejectable seat in fighter jets and the torque converter automatic transmission with the constantinesco vehicle. Any many other things like like the pen etc.

Bride kidnapping is a thing in Estonian weddings as well. People are assigned positions at wedding party: one guys job is keep alcohol on table all the time, if it runs out its his job to bring more from shop. There are bride guards, their job is to find and retrieve bride back to the wedding and so on... depending on wedding and how it is setup. Sometimes bride kidnapping is replaced with a flag capture game. Cause there have been injuries and accidents on bride kidnapping. So instead they have so called: "wedding flag", that you have to steal.
if you want a hole Romanian trip you need to falow the Bucuresti-Constanta-Iasi-SIbiu -Brasov-Craiova -Hunedoara-Cluj-Arad-Timis route. Its a long route , but its amazing. Dont miss the Transfagaras and Transalpina roads , "are the most beautifull road in the world" (top gear).

Salina Turda is a salt mine, from there in the 19's I think, from there salt was extracted. Oh and if you want to get to the lift it will take a while because it is very visited, but there is always the other option to use the stairs, I think there are 30 floors some covered in salt and it makes it difficult to walk on them. There is a pool there where I think you can use a boat or something never tried it myself. Been there twice it's really cool down there!
Im from Moldova, and to get there, I basically have to pass whole romania(Oradea-Iasî). It can take up to 12-13hours WITHOUT any traffic jam. So quite a lot
