He was cheating, though. As @simonnt said: A script thats guesses for him and he doesnt have to do anything himself. You can tell hes cheating because some of his guesses were suspiciously close or weird, for example guessing the wrong country but in the correct general area. Also in one round he literally guessed Vietnam (9:09) and Zimbabwe (8:28) even though theres no street view there which shows hes not good at the game

I have a question, how does the script decide where to place him on the map as sometimes he was not the closest.

@@kvr8986 the scripts online to cheat in this game have multiple options, all using those keys bound to the emojis. The option he would've been using was the one where it would automatically place the pin for him a specific distance away from the exact location in a circular radius, making it seem more realistic and as if he had actual geoguessr knowledge. what he failed to realise is that in some of those rounds the pin would go into places where street view doesn't even exist all because the exact location was on the border of another country that does have street view.

One of the most popular scripts has several keybinds (most bound to emoji keys) that allow you to pick bullseye or randomly abit further away.

@@MostlyLoveOfMusic I don't know, but I guess you can extract the coordinates from the requests to StreetView. I would guess that the images are loaded not from the geoguesser server, but from Google and with that they would need the coords in the browser and you can extract them if you really wanted...

Definitely a cheater, you'll notice he sent the wave emoji at the start of each round, this is almost certainly a keybind to both the wave emoji and a button on his script showing him the exact location.

can somebody explain how he was cheating? and how anybody came to know he was cheating?

@@MostlyLoveOfMusic Your browser has to know the location because it has to request the street view images from Google, and there are scripts you can install that will just read the location from the browser and mark it or display it or something (I never tried it, I don't know). What I have gathered from other conversations about this topic, those scripts typically allow you to press certain keys to tell it how far away to guess, and those keys, like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, are also hotkeys for sending emoji, so if someone is sending you random emoji at the beginning of each round, they might have such a cheat script. Also, they often guess a certain distance away in order to not suspiciously 5K every round, but always guessing 50 km off at a place that makes no sense for a good player is suspicious in and of itself, and there have been videos by Jake Lyons, for example, where he could tell that the other guy was guessing in a region where there were no mountains, or that was flat, but that didn't match with the round, and no good player would guess like that, or they guess in Vietnam where every good player knows is no coverage. If you know what to look for, it is quite easy to identify a cheater, and you can let the developers know and they will ban them and refund your ELO. Such a drag that they destroy all the fun, though!

I'm guessing that if you dig into the source code of GeoGuessr using a browser's inspector feature, you'll be able to extract the GPS coordinates from the network requests that it's making to Google. The cheat scripts probably automate that.
