CG *sees one pixel of a license plate* CG: *"as you can see, we have a Rhode Island license plate"* 11:24 Bro I can't see! I'm still scratching my head at how you're so good at this! Love the content homie ❤️
This was insane! I can't imagine knowing US geography this well, and I'm not that poorly travelled. Excellently narrated as well. GeoWizard recommended your channel and this vid did not disappoint :)
Damn near jumped out of my chair when I saw the Tucson airport. Only time I could tell exactly where we were in a microsecond. Was really impressed that you got it so fast.
It’s wild watching GeoWizard (who is indeed very very good, but seems to get more views because of his British humor and personality aspect too), then heading over to this channel where you are an actual expert and noticing things in an instant that I need to pause for a while to see. Amazing stuff!
I also highly suggest people make this category competitive! The more runs coming in, and the better the competition, the more all of us will improve in the end! Nice run CG! As a side note, if we get some USNB (NM) attempts, it might make its way to the sheet! Just dont get a 25k right away ; )
Curious. Do you use a large monitor to help deal with the no Zoom? My big handicap is being color vision impaired so license plates do me no good at all, unfortunately. Only yellow and blue show up for me a little on a plate (like on EU plates), otherwise they are all pretty much the same. If I didn't know I was impaired I would think people were lying about seeing shades of red on plates, etc. LOL
Hey Chicago Geographer! I have a quick question. What kind of recording software do you use when trying to set records? I’ve been meaning to start trying, but I’m not exactly sure on how I should record for the geotips submission. Epic video by the way.
Thanks! I use OBS Studio to record - free and easy to use program. You can also stream with it too (that's it's main use, but I use Streamlabs for that haha)
GG! I've had a 4:28 for a few months now, but it didn't show up on the leaderboard for some reason. That's the official WR right now on geotips.net. Really proud of my new 4:03 but I wasn't recording, so it doesn't officially count :( You should record your attempts if you can to get on the record page!
Gen 4 is the newest camera used by Google - you can tell something is Gen 4 if it's a very high quality image with vibrant colors, and it's sometimes overexposed (checking the clouds/sun is a good way to see that)
Lots of practice! If you want to improve at the US in particular, I made a map featuring clues that are specific to each state: www.geoguessr.com/maps/5fb4a16924491b00010c608d
It's a browser extension using Tampermonkey/greasemonkey/similar. I don't have the link handy, but you can probably find the script on r/geoguessr or their Discord server
