Geometry Trash: Remakes and Rebirths 

I'd put remakes in a scale of Constructive remakes and Cash-ins. Basically Constructive levels would be ones that actually add something new and innovative to the original and actually expand on it while Cash-Ins would be just remaking it without any thought to actually innovating on it. Basically like in song remixes, where there are those that take the original and add a drumbeat on it and those that take the melody and innovate on it, switch the timescale and add a whole bunch of new stuff on it.

6:06 I'm not gonna lie, optical got this a lot, when really his levels were not bad. I feel like as a community we keep on thinking everything has to be super over decorated, and that bugs me, since lots of deco =/= good, it can, but that doesn't define quality. I guess Optical did start to get better again since this video, but looking at his last level, I can't help but say I love the simple style, and optical was always pretty good with colors and made creative effects in the very least.

Imagine if RobTop refused to rate Bloodlust simply because it is another generic rebirth or something. :V

In my opinion remakes are good when a level that is actually old is redecorated and given an extension, like Bloodlust. Like you said, remakes like Ultrasans are very good for the reasons you explained. However the remakes I dislike are the ones that are just pointless and use a level that isn't even that new. 4:19 SWI does blend core and tech though, and thankfully it doesn't vomit decoration ad the air deco. I think block deco core is fine, while air deco core is horrifying and a crime against nature.

I think a remake is fine if it has any history at all like swi, reverts a level back to the unnerfed version like deimos or eod, and when they add an extension like bloodlust

Cool video except for the bit where you trash talked optical. Optical's simple modern style is really good, and it shows that less is more for some styles.

Wait, I'm confused about what you said about core. "Your level contains a large amount of detail within the block structures, therefore it is 'gross' " Like, sure, many creators do it in ways that come out messy or awkward, but many creators can make it beautiful as well.

I agree with some things, but I want to say that ultrasans(1:03) is not a re-creation of ultrasonics, there is different gameplay and it resembles ultrasonis only in decor and part in the beginning (in which the gameplay is also changed) and that’s all, ultrasonics and ultrasans are completely different levels and they not interconnected

3:59 You're not alone in some respects. I do hate SWR's deco, it's genuine garbage especially from people like Funnygame and Serponge. However, I think Auditory Breaker is a bit of its own level at this point; SWR was a good move on Mefewe's part because it was supposed to REPLACE the original SW, and SWI was and is kind of a cool callback. These three remakes are fine. However I do agree that the others are meaningless and shouldn't exist unless they're joke levels built for a joke like Generic Wave.

you do know i was host for Silentium Gradas right? not the main one which i usually am but i was co-host next to Kugelblitz, rallying creators now and then for Kugelblitz to help him out. this was the one of my levels where i didnt really make many decisions but i still had a host participation regardless, i still did what a host does

Well, if you needed serious remasters there are TehTactiq's Redux levels (Stalemate and Breakout), or The Hell Series rebirth by Stormfly and more, since their gameplays had significant modifications, and yeah I find most of these levels good

Are you aware the Soundwave Destroyer footage you show (meatius' clear) is low detail mode of the level? I'd argue the level was the most consistent remake for when it was made. I know this is very irrelevant to the point of the video but I just want to defend a friend here
