Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved, Adventure mode speedrun. PC version. New save file. 1h45m10s
This is a game I was looking forward to try because it has a similar play style to Ion Assault which is another game I speedrun. This run is rather long and the hardest part for me is to keep the focus. For that reason, this is one of the most tiring speedruns I've ever done, mentally and physically.
Around the middle of the run I got stuck in a fairly simple stage because I lost my focus and I started to "tilt". I was able to get over that and the second half of the run was good but I had some difficulties there too.
Some of the stages have a time limit and there's nothing you can do to speed them up but it's crucial to go for high scores in order to have more credits to buy upgrades. Another technique that I use is to press "RESTART" at the end of every stage, go to the menu right after and quit, that way I can switch to the next stage faster.

For sure! This game is awesome. I wish they had balanced more the Hardcore and Ultimate modes because I thought that Adventure mode was harder than these other two.

Interesting idea! Would you want to do a “3 star speed run” for hardcore (just so it doesn’t seem like such a grind) sometime?

all stars hard-core would be interesting...i don't know if pentaleks would run it but seeing as ive gotten into speedrunning this game as of late it seems like it'd be a fun endeavor that being said i don't want to run the category until pentaleks (the mod of the speedrun page) adds the rules for it since there's only any% and 100% which requires wiping your save, something steam makes a chore

@@kyokonull yeah the fresh file rules are tough but the do also add depth to the optimization questions - what order, should I go for 2 star here or there to more quickly unlock superstates, etc - genome and start optimizations for the late game could be super interesting if you could get turret in a reasonable time frame theres so much time safe potential with that power up

@@nickbaker5296 oh yeah definitely. those micromanagements are nice to look into but unfortunately the src page is gutted now since the new mod is... interesting and i moved on to a better speedrun game soooo lol

wiley schmitt I don’t think so. The records for this game are score-based. You should definitely check out some of those videos here on RU-vid.

Yeah I'm really into the score based rankings for each stage, but unfortunately got fully invested in the game years after it came out. If GW4 comes out I'll have a lot of fun with fresh rankings.

wiley schmitt it’s never too late. Scores are still being broken all of the time. Its mostly about self improvement. You should start playing again and join the geometry wars Facebook group!

You're totally right, and I am playing it more than any other game trying to get better and better, like playing a favorite arcade game with unlimited credits.

wiley schmitt good job. Message me on xbox (gamertag same as RU-vid username) and I’ll friend you. Assuming you play on Xbox you should also get geometry wars 2. It is a lot better IMO. Much higher skill ceiling. You can also look at my channel for some geometry wars videos :)
